Chapter 010: Magic Cuisine
“I believe Lord Buzhe will definitely show up, as long as he’s still on this continent,” Du Fan said after some thought.
“I really hope we can find him soon,” Nayixiu said again, filled with melancholy.
With Fisher pressing for an immediate marriage, it was likely that Du Fan and Nayixiu’s wedding would have to be rushed. Nayixiu naturally wanted to find Buzhe before her own wedding. That way, she could have her parents attend her wedding. As a daughter, this was probably Nayixiu’s greatest wish at the moment.
“Nayixiu, how about you use your status as the Elven Queen to issue a decree ordering Lord Buzhe to come see you? As the ruler of the elves, I think Lord Buzhe should obey such an order, right?” Du Fan suggested after thinking it over.
“Lord Buzhe is my savior. How could I do such a thing?” Nayixiu replied seriously upon hearing Du Fan’s idea.
Indeed, if Nayixiu used her status as the Elven Queen, she could issue orders. As a member of the elf race, if Buzhe still remained loyal to his people, he would surely come to see her. But doing so would mean ordering Buzhe to come to her—something Nayixiu, out of gratitude toward him, didn’t want to do.
“Haha, that would indeed be impolite toward Lord Buzhe. Then, Nayixiu, we’ll just have to spread the word more widely,” Du Fan said with a smile.
“Mm, that’s the only option,” Nayixiu nodded in agreement.
Just as Du Fan and Nayixiu were discussing how to find Buzhe, someone suddenly came to report that people from the Magic Guild had arrived.
Hearing that someone from the Magic Guild had come to visit, Du Fan grew puzzled. If they wanted to contact him, they should have stepped in during the fight between the Mercenary Guild and Randy and his group. Why wait until now?
Despite his doubts, Du Fan got up. After all, the Magic Guild was also an organization that rivaled the Holy Church and Roland Academy on this continent—a group he couldn’t ignore.
Soon, in the Green family’s reception hall, a great mage familiar to Du Fan was sitting there. This person was none other than Master Barbari, one of the two great mages who had helped the crown prince during the chaos in the imperial city.
“Ah, how undeserving I am, Du Fan, to have Master Barbari come all the way here personally. It’s truly a sin, a great sin,” Du Fan said hurriedly upon seeing Master Barbari.
Although Master Barbari seemed to have a relatively low level of cultivation in Du Fan’s eyes now, he was a powerful figure within the Magic Guild. Even Du Fan had to show this great mage proper respect, at least on the surface.
“Duke Du Fan is not what he used to be, haha. It’s a great honor for me, Master Barbari, that the guild leader sent me to invite Duke Du Fan. I’m here at the request of our leader Edward, to invite Duke Du Fan to our Magic Guild for a discussion,” Barbari said with a smile.
Hearing this, Du Fan was somewhat puzzled. A great mage should usually have an arrogant attitude, but from Barbari’s words, it seemed he was full of bureaucratic tactics! It seemed that Master Barbari’s position of power in the Magic Guild wasn’t something he’d gained by chance.
“Oh, an invitation from Leader Edward?” Du Fan was taken aback. What exactly was Leader Edward planning?
“Haha, since it’s Leader Edward who’s inviting me, of course I must go. Otherwise, Edward might think I, Du Fan, am extremely rude,” Du Fan said with a smile after a brief pause.
“Is this Her Majesty Queen Naixiu?” Barbari suddenly asked, looking at Naixiu.
“Master, I haven’t officially taken on the role of Elven Queen yet. If you don’t mind, please just call me Naixiu,” Naixiu said with a smile, bowing to Barbari as she spoke.
Even in the eyes of a noble like Du Fan, Naixiu’s bow was perfectly proper, leaving no room for criticism.
“Naixiu, when did you learn these human customs?” Du Fan’s lips twitched, and a voice only Naixiu could hear reached her ears.
Naixiu pursed her lips and replied in a voice only Du Fan could hear, “Ugh, it was my mother who taught me.”
It seemed her mother was really thoughtful—teaching Naixiu such things during her own unconsciousness!
Hearing Nayshu’s words and seeing her bowing to him, Barbari’s mouth split into a smile. It was indeed a great honor for the Elf Queen to bow to him like this!
“Master Barbari, since it’s President Edward who invited us, we’d better go soon so as not to keep him waiting anxiously!” Du Fan said with a smile.
“Hmm, Duke Du Fan. Our president wants Queen Nayshu and Duke Du Fan to go together!” Hearing that Du Fan was about to head to the Magic Guild, Barbari was overjoyed and quickly mentioned that Edward had also invited Nayshu.
“Great, President Edward is really thoughtful. Nayshu, come with me; let’s go visit President Edward together!” Du Fan said to Nayshu with a smile.
Hearing this, Nayshu naturally took Du Fan’s arm.
“Master Barbari, please lead us to see President Edward,” Du Fan said with a smile, gesturing for Barbari to lead the way.
When they appeared in front of the Magic Guild again, the oppressive aura inside remained. But Du Fan was no longer the same as before. He could clearly sense that the pressure emanating from the Magic Tower meant that even a high-level lower god wouldn’t be able to gain any advantage here.
Feeling that powerful mental force once more, Du Fan raised the status of the Magic Guild in his eyes even further.
When they reached President Edward, he said with a smile, “Du Fan, it’s almost lunchtime. On behalf of the Magic Guild, I invite you and your noble Queen Nayshu to enjoy our dinner!”
“Ahaha, President wants to treat us to a meal? Of course, that’s great.” Hearing this, Du Fan suddenly felt uneasy. Could it be that President Edward sent people to bring him and Nayshu to the Magic Guild all this way just to invite them for a meal?
They entered a room where only President Edward, Du Fan, and Nayshu were present; even Master Barbari was nowhere to be seen.
“Du Fan, have some tea first,” Edward said with a smile. He snapped his fingers in the air, and soon a magician entered the room.
“Du Fan, today you will enjoy a magical meal—none even the current emperor has ever received such treatment in our Magic Guild,” Edward said with a sudden sigh.
“A magical meal?” Du Fan asked in confusion upon hearing Edward’s words. Could this magical meal be something made from various magical beast ingredients?
“Guild Master, what exactly is this magical meal?” Du Fan quickly asked.
“Back in the day, one of our guild’s masters was an extremely fond gourmet. Under his leadership, a special dish that incorporated magic into food was invented. Thus, magical meals came into existence. I doubt anywhere outside our guild can serve such a feast. We must admire that master’s genius. Magical meals have since become a tradition in our guild for entertaining the most distinguished guests. Over the past hundred years, fewer than ten guests have been treated with magical meals by our guild,” Edward said with a smile.
Hearing what Guild Master Edward said, Du Fan’s curiosity was instantly piqued. How wonderful could a meal based on magic really be? His heart was filled with anticipation.
“Elder, please serve us tea,” Edward said respectfully to a magician who entered.
There was nothing special about this magician at first glance, but upon being addressed by Guild Master Edward, it turned out he was an elder of the magic guild!
“Elder! Guild Master Edward, you’re asking an elder to serve tea for us—this is really not appropriate!” Du Fan quickly waved his hands upon realizing the magician was an elder.
“Duke Du Fan, please sit down. Preparing magical meals requires advanced magical skills and precise control. Otherwise, how could we showcase their uniqueness? That’s why those in charge of preparing magical meals are usually our guild’s elders,” Edward said as if it were obvious.
“Duke Du Fan, please sit. It’s my duty and honor to serve food to our guild’s esteemed guests,” the magician, referred to as the elder, said with a smile.
Hearing their words, Du Fan also sat down, ready to enjoy this feast. In the blink of an eye, the elder brought out three white jade cups. As soon as those cups appeared, the temperature around them dropped sharply!
“Han Yu! President Edward, were these cups made by Han Yu?” Du Fan exclaimed in surprise upon seeing the three cups.
“Duke Du Fan has excellent eyes! These cups indeed were made by Han Yu! You must be aware of how precious this kind of Han Yu is.” Edward said with a smile.
Du Fan was well aware of the rarity of Han Yu! Even just one of these cups was worth over three million gold coins at market price!
This kind of Han Yu was an excellent material for cooling down in the summer. Just this cup before Du Fan could lower the temperature in a room of about a hundred square feet by five degrees!
With such a Han Yu cup, one could ensure a cool summer. Moreover, thanks to its inherent cold nature, it didn’t require magic or magic stones to function. Such an item was truly worth keeping as a family heirloom.
Additionally, using Han Yu stones in ice-related martial arts or magic training could double the effectiveness for the practitioner. Even for those not practicing ice-related skills, the cool and refreshing aura of Han Yu could help them stay calm and focused during training.
