Chapter 014: Assault
“Basha, since you want to die quickly! Then your brother and I will send you on your way sooner,” Tatakjin said in a deep voice.
After assessing the situation, Tatakjin thought for a moment. If his third and fourth brothers, along with those skilled dwarves, could hold off Du Fan and Nayixiu, while he and Tata Yin dealt with Basha first, it would be a good strategy.
Moreover, he was confident that Tata Tong and Tata Tie could hold off Du Fan and the others until he finished with Basha.
According to the intelligence, Basha was just a warrior at the early stage of the Saint rank, while he and Tata Yin were at the intermediate stage of the Saint rank.
Another point was that the purpose of this mission was to eliminate Basha! Once Basha was killed, his mission would be complete.
“Tata Yin, since Lord Basha wants to fight us two, we’ll give him what he wants! You don’t need to stop Du Fan anymore. Let’s deal with Basha together first,” Tatakjin said.
“Want to fight two against one?” Basha suddenly smiled at Tatakjin.
“Basha, why are you smiling? This is a matter of life and death. Who cares about fighting two against one?” Tatakjin said, finding Basha’s smile strange.
“Basha, it was you who sent Du Fan away. Are you regretting it now?” Tata Yin asked.
“Six Wings, come out!” Basha said softly.
At Basha’s command, Six Wings suddenly spread its six wings and appeared behind him. Its bones glowed with milky light, its six wings were extremely magnificent, and it held a long spear in its hands!
Seeing Six Wings’ splendid appearance, Tatakjin and Tata Yin were stunned.
“Elder brother! A skeleton with six wings!” Tata Yin exclaimed.
“Exactly. This is my new companion, Six Wings. Hehe, Tatakjin, you wanted to fight two against one? Now, let me and Six Wings show you what we’re capable of!” Basha suddenly laughed loudly.
“Six Wings, attack!” Basha swung his axe, and Six Wings, holding a long spear and spreading its six wings, flew toward Tata Yin and thrust its spear at him!
The spear came like lightning! It was the first time Six Wings had been released since leaving the Divine Ruins. Seeing this new world, it was filled with curiosity. Upon seeing Tata Yin, it immediately launched a fierce attack.
Seeing the fierce spear, Tata Yin quickly raised his axe to block it.
Six Wings thrust his spear into the surface of the axe, then tapped it lightly with the spear tip. With a flap of his six wings, he performed a graceful flip and landed behind Tata Yin. Without even turning around, Six Wings immediately thrust his spear again, aiming at Tata Yin’s back! Hearing the sound of the spear thrust behind him, Tata Yin rushed forward a few steps in haste. The tip of Six Wings’ spear barely pierced through Tata Yin’s clothes, after which he heard a crisp sound of metal breaking behind him! That spear thrust made Tata Yin break into a cold sweat—the crisp sound was the result of his inner armor being pierced by Six Wings’ spear! If Tata Yin had been any slower, that spear thrust would have taken his life! Feeling the icy sharpness of the spear in Six Wings’ hand, Tata Yin had no doubt that it could easily pierce through his combat energy defenses. He couldn’t believe that his combat energy defenses could compare to his inner armor! That inner armor was made from materials far superior to gold, silver, copper, and iron, primarily black iron with numerous precious materials added. During testing, it had withstood Tata Tong’s full-force hammer strike without damage! Its protective power was evident, yet even such armor shattered under Six Wings’ casual thrust! In fact, it couldn’t be said that Six Wings’ spear was more lethal than Tata Tong’s hammer—firstly, Six Wings’ spear attacked in a pinpoint manner, while Tata Tong’s hammer struck in a broad area. Secondly, to be honest, what humans call divine weapons are merely highly superior weapons crafted by master blacksmiths. Though indeed much better than other weapons, they still cannot be considered true divine weapons! What Six Wings held now was a true divine weapon! Protected by gods and demons, aside from a divine essence, was this very spear—left behind after the fall of a powerful god. The fact that it was deliberately preserved as a guardian already showed that it was a remarkable divine weapon, even in the divine realm. With such a true divine weapon in his hands, coupled with the spear tip’s sharpness, it was no wonder he could pierce through Tata Yin’s inner armor with just one thrust.
Tata Yin had no idea that the long spear in Six Wings’ hand was a true divine artifact, but Six Wings’ spear attack made Tata Yin break into cold sweat. Six Wings’ showy appearance, agile movements, and the fighting instincts hidden deep within his skeleton all stirred a sense of fear in Tata Yin’s heart! Just as Six Wings thrust his spear at Tata Yin, Basha also charged at Tata Jin with an axe in hand; both used large axes and fought evenly. With Six Wings’ appearance, Tata Jin’s tactical plans were completely disrupted. Originally, Tata Jin’s plan was for Tata Tong and Tata Tie to lead ten skilled dwarves to support Nai Xiu, Du Fan, and the three magicians, while he and Tata Yin would quickly deal with Basha before joining forces with Tata Tong and Tata Tie. Six Wings’ sudden appearance prevented Tata Jin and Tata Yin from working together against Basha. Moreover, that strange skeleton seemed even stronger than Tata Yin. As Du Fan approached Tata Tong and Tata Tie’s group, the things Tata Jin had been worried about finally happened. When planning the attack on Basha, they had already considered that Basha was a saint-class expert. Thus, aside from the four brothers of the Tata family and the mountain giants, the other ten people consisted of six ninth-level and four eighth-level dwarf warriors. With such strength—remember, it was an attack!—there should have been no problem attacking Basha. But they hadn’t expected Du Fan to leave three dual-element saint-class magicians in Basha’s home. Before the attack, they had also tested Basha’s household experts and concluded that there was only Basha himself as a saint-class expert. At Du Fan’s signal, the three dark-element saint-class magicians also did their best to conceal their presence. Magic of the dark element was inherently excellent at concealment and stealth, so it was impossible for those people to detect the three more saint-class magicians in Basha’s home! This was the first reason for the failure of the ambush: they failed to detect the three saint-class experts in Basha’s home. The second mistake was failing to expect that Du Fan and Nai Xiu still hadn’t left. If it hadn’t been for Du Fan and Nai Xiu’s sudden appearance in Glass City, with the speed of the mountain giants and their innate advantages, they would likely have caught up with Basha. Once caught, it would have been very difficult for Basha to escape.
Things gradually deviated from what they had expected, and by now, the situation had turned extremely unfavorable for them. Du Fan moved with the agility of a ghost! Led by Tata Tong and Tata Tie, there were six level-9 experts and four level-8 experts. Ahead, they had to face the magical attacks of three mages, as well as Nai Xiu’s icy arrows. Behind them, Du Fan was already closing in! With the speed of a ghost, Du Fan took advantage of a level-8 dwarf busy dealing with the mages’ magic. Suddenly, like a silent gust of wind, he appeared behind the dwarf. Frost Snow pierced through the dwarf’s back without any hindrance, piercing his heart with a single strike! As the sword was pulled out, blood gushed from the dwarf’s chest. Before he could even utter a sound, he fell to the ground, dead. When the mountain giant died, the four brothers of the Tata family hadn’t felt much, but this time, seeing their own clan’s experts die right before their eyes—especially Tata Tong and Tata Tie, who were not far away—they felt as if their hearts were shattered. “Tata Kun!” they shouted at the same time! The man killed by Du Fan was named Tata Kun. Although he was only a level-8 expert, he was a close friend of the Tata brothers. Moreover, in the Tata family, a level-8 expert was considered a high-level talent. “Du Fan, you attacked from behind! You’re despicable! You wretched human!” Tata Tie cursed angrily upon seeing Tata Kun die. “Tata Tie, have you lost your mind? If you can attack Basha from behind, can’t I do the same to you? What nonsense is that?” Du Fan said calmly, smiling, shaking Frost Snow in his hand to dislodge the remaining blood. “You!” The dwarf race wasn’t good at verbal battles, and Tata Tie was immediately stumped by Du Fan’s words, unable to speak. Just then, Du Fan vanished in a flash, disappearing right in front of Tata Tie! As Du Fan disappeared, another scream came from not far away from Tata Tie! Tata Tie glanced in the direction of the scream—another level-8 dwarf warrior had been split in two by Du Fan’s sword at the shoulder! Tata Tie roared and charged at Du Fan with his axe. As he ran, a sharp sound of wind pierced the air—Nai Xiu’s arrow had hit him!
The arrows were like meteors. Tata Tie had no confidence in daring to withstand directly the arrows of a holy-grade archer. He quickly dodged with agility, avoiding Nayixiu’s meteor-like arrows!
But even as Tata Tie dodged, Du Fan’s figure disappeared again.
Soon, another scream was heard. This time, however, the dwarves were prepared to defend against Du Fan’s attacks. He merely severed the left arm of an eighth-level dwarf warrior.
The eighth-level dwarf clutched his bleeding left arm, his face pale as gold, as he retreated step by step!
“Form a circle!” Tata Tong shouted.
Quickly, the remaining dwarves formed a circle. Led by Tata Tong, they resisted Nayixiu and the mage’s attacks, while Tata Tie led them in blocking Du Fan’s assaults!
The situation, where Tata Tong and Tata Tie had been chasing Nayixiu, rapidly deteriorated. Now, the ten skilled dwarves led by Tata Tong and Tata Tie could barely protect themselves, let alone chase after Nayixiu and the mage.
