Chapter 005: Domain Master
“And I am a domain!”
Spoken under these circumstances, these words carried an indescribable arrogance and domineering tone. As Garfield shouted them, a blinding silver light erupted from his entire body. This light held no trace of killing intent or pressure, yet it seemed to possess endless coldness, instantly melting away all darkness around it.
There was no clash of sacred-level domains, no struggle of immense forces. The absolute darkness emitted by Chenchen gradually turned into light under this silver glow, until it completely vanished…
The sky remained the same, the land remained the same…
The two of them, looking at each other, seemed to still be in their original positions, as if nothing had changed.
Yet, somehow, everything was different now.
It was as if a harsh winter had suddenly arrived, as if snow had fallen from the sky, as if the world had been frozen over…
Everything around them was utterly submerged in absolute coldness, a coldness that seemed not created by anyone but to have arisen naturally.
Du Fan, watching from afar, suddenly felt an absurd sense—as if Garfield had merged with the entire world; as if the whole world would change according to Garfield’s will…
A hint of surprise finally appeared on Chenchen’s face. She glanced at Garfield carefully before nodding and saying, “Not bad. You’ve truly grasped your own domain and reached the realm of the legendary domain masters… It can be said that on this Roland Continent, aside from the Twenty-One Death Disciples, you have no rival.”
Garfield’s eyes narrowed slightly before he replied after a moment, “You know about the Twenty-One Death Disciples?”
Chenchen smiled faintly and said, “I know far more than you imagine. But right now, we’re in a life-or-death situation—what’s the use of talking about this?”
“Still, you are after all a domain master,” Chenchen said, a hint of regret appearing on her beautiful face. “Throughout history, many peerless masters have reached the pinnacle of the sacred level and could never go any further. Yet you have taken this final step and reached the status of a domain master… Perhaps, perhaps… you’ll have the chance to reach that legendary realm in the future… It’s a shame, such a pity. It would be a real waste to kill you here…”
At this point, Chenchen suddenly smiled again and said, “Garfield, I think we might as well stop now.”
Hearing these words, Garfield was momentarily stunned. After a moment, he wore a half-smiling expression as he looked at Chenchen and asked, “Are you scared?”
Chenchen shook her head slightly and said, “Even if you’re a domain powerhouse, I’m not necessarily afraid of you. But it would be a shame if such a genius were to perish right here and now… To personally strangle a genius is indeed an extremely cruel act… Originally, if you were only at the peak of the Saint rank, killing you wouldn’t matter much. But now that you’re a domain powerhouse, what’s the point of letting you go?”
“Letting me go?” Garfield laughed heartily. “Miss, aren’t you afraid your tongue might get frozen from speaking so boldly? I admit you’re the greatest fighter I’ve ever met. Even the eight Holy Knights of the Sacred Church might not be as good as you. But… in my eyes, you’re still far from being my match… Letting me go? That sounds rather funny!”
Chenchen sighed and said, “You’re really full of arrogance. I kindly offered you a chance to live. Since you refuse it, I can’t be blamed…”
Garfield smiled and said, “Arrogance must be backed by strength. If you really want to give me a chance to die, why not give me one first?”
At that moment, Garfield’s figure flashed suddenly, and he pressed himself close to the ground before rushing toward Chenchen. The wind and snow in the sky seemed to follow some unseen guidance as well, sweeping in that direction.
Originally, the distance between him and Chenchen was only a few dozen steps. But with that flash, it seemed as though the distance between them had changed drastically. In just one breath, they were now only a step apart.
In just another moment, their bodies would have collided.
But at that instant, Chenchen suddenly shook her head. Without any visible movement, she drifted backward. It was such a slight movement that the distance of just one step once again became dozens of steps, as if they had never been close at all.
At this moment, both these peerless masters used their understanding of the rules to forcibly alter the spatial rules. With their advances and retreats, a bizarre force field was instantly created.
The two of them seemed frozen in mid-air. Though the surroundings kept changing, they remained motionless in their original positions, as if it were the scenery that was moving. Yet in reality, it was the scenery that was truly still—only the rules of space around them had long since been altered by their powers! Finally, Gaffield let out a soft hum, and with a loud “boom,” the distortions around them seemed to freeze instantly, as if the rules created by Chenchen could no longer hold back his advance. Their figures drew closer rapidly again, and Gaffield raised his right hand, a chilling cold aura emanating from his fingertips! With all the rules seemingly frozen, the cold aura from Gaffield’s fingertips was about to touch Chenchen’s forehead… Just then, a faint golden glow flashed suddenly in Chenchen’s eyes, which had always carried a gentle smile. Yet with this brief flash, the space around them seemed to shake violently! Gaffield immediately felt that the rules, which had been under his control, seemed to lose some control due to this shock. He had clearly locked onto her energy, but after this shock, she was still right in front of him yet also seemingly out of reach. He could still see her presence, but could no longer sense her! With a “hiss,” Gaffield’s finger pointed toward Chenchen’s side—seemingly aiming to strike her, yet unable to do so no matter what. This bizarre contradiction made Du Fan, who had been watching their fight, feel extremely frustrated. He felt his internal energy surge, almost forcing him to spit blood! In that instant, all the distortions around them vanished, and Chenchen and Gaffield returned to their original positions. Gaffield’s face no longer showed arrogance; he looked at Chenchen with confusion, his eyes flashing with strangeness: “What kind of power is this? Are you hiding your strength? That dodge you used just now was by no means the power of a Saint-level warrior… Could it be… you also possess a domain?” His expression at that moment was absolutely remarkable.
Chenchen smiled faintly and said, “Is it a domain? I don’t know myself either… But I do know one thing—namely, you are definitely not my match. If you run now, there’s still time. If you don’t run now, you might not get another chance later!”
“Could it be that you’re… that legendary rank…” Before Chenchen could reply, Garfield shook his head and said, “Impossible! Impossible! Legends are just legends. Even if one possesses the essence of gods and the power of angels, humans remain humans after all. How could they possibly reach such an extraordinary rank? So, you’re also a domain expert? Very well… Then let me see whether your domain is stronger or mine!”
Chenchen smiled gently and said, “Garfield, you don’t need to worry so much. Maybe my strength is even weaker than yours. But since I said you’re not my match, then you definitely aren’t… Please make that clear to yourself!”
As she spoke, Chenchen’s figure slowly rose into the sky. When she reached mid-air, she took a gentle breath…
But with just that breath, it seemed as though all the air around her disappeared. After completing this action and standing in the void, Chenchen suddenly stretched out a finger and gently pointed in Garfield’s direction…
“Then, let me bestow upon you endless darkness!”
Her words sounded as if she were merely stating a fact, yet it seemed as though that fact had always existed!
In that instant, everything in the world seemed to lose its original colors—whether it was mountains or trees, flowers or grass, streams or rivers, hills or plains…
Everything lost its color and turned into pure black. This black was different from the darkness before…
Compared to the artificially created darkness, this darkness seemed so calm, so natural, as if everything in the world was meant to be this way…
It seemed like a second passed, yet it might have been an entire century. Finally, Garfield’s solemn voice came through the darkness: “So, you’re indeed… also a domain expert!!!”
