Chapter 014: Frenzied Battle (Part 2)
The earth element giants, whose bodies seemed entirely made of rock, roared as they charged at Oscar under Du Fan’s command, determined to crush him into pulp with a single strike.
But at that moment, Oscar’s combat energy erupted violently all over his body, and a golden glow flashed in his eyes. He managed to break through the dizziness spell using his combat energy.
By then, the first earth element giant had already raised its hand to strike Oscar. There was no time for him to dodge. With a grunt, he lifted his long sword, and with a sharp “whoosh,” he severed the giant’s hand with a single swing.
Then, Oscar suddenly drifted backward, his combat energy exploding once more, accompanied by a burst of blue light!
Was Oscar’s combat energy of the water element?
Before Du Fan could react, Oscar moved like lightning, arriving beside the first earth element giant in an instant. With another swing of his sword, blue combat energy surged, freezing the entire giant into a block of ice!
Next, Oscar let out a low grunt, and with a crackling sound, cracks appeared all over the giant’s body, which quickly shattered and fell to the ground.
Watching from above, Du Fan broke into cold sweat. Without hesitation, he used his Holy Radiance Staff repeatedly, causing the remaining earth element giants to charge at Oscar almost simultaneously.
Yet, a hint of sarcasm flashed in Oscar’s eyes. He suddenly gripped his sword tightly and swept it horizontally—
Blue combat energy instantly filled a seven- or eight-meter radius around him. The earth element giants entered this area and were instantly frozen in place.
Without delay, Oscar swung his sword repeatedly, producing a series of “crack” sounds. With each strike, the remaining giants turned to fragments.
Only after finishing all this did Oscar grunt and glance upward in Du Fan’s direction.
Originally, Oscar had some respect for Du Fan’s talent, but after witnessing his series of vicious tactics, if not for his own strong strength, he would likely have lost his life by now.
A figure of his caliber, originally aiming to defeat Du Fan and win his loyalty, realized after just a few moves that Du Fan was completely beyond his control. For such a person, if he couldn’t be used, the best solution was to kill him! Otherwise, even if he managed to restore his power today, keeping Du Fan alive would only bring future troubles.
With murderous intent now burning in his heart, Oscar’s gaze toward Du Fan no longer held any trace of indifference—only cold, lethal intent.
Under Oscar’s stare, Du Fan felt as if half of his body had turned cold. He knew his own limitations well and understood that under these circumstances, not only could he not fight back against Oscar, but he wouldn’t even have the strength to escape.
Glancing at the surrounding crowd still engaged in battle, Du Fan could only sigh in despair. Even if he tried to run, he’d likely be killed by some unknown thug—true suffering indeed!
The two stared at each other in silence for a moment before Oscar suddenly sneered and said, “Lord Du Fan, quite the clever move! But… if you have nothing new to show next, don’t blame me!”
With that, Oscar slowly bent down, raising his long sword in a strange posture. His ice-blue combat energy swayed like boiling flames…
Du Fan immediately realized that if Oscar attacked now, he would definitely go all out. He was gathering his strength—under normal circumstances, Du Fan wouldn’t have given him such an opportunity… But if he rushed at him now? It would be suicide!
Yet if he didn’t act now, once Oscar’s strength was fully gathered, he too would die…
His situation was utterly awkward and contradictory…
Thinking this, Du Fan finally resolved to take drastic action! Rather than stand here waiting to die, he might as well fight to the end…
Although winning wouldn’t bring any real benefit, it was still better than waiting idly!
Having made up his mind, Du Fan regretted nothing. He suddenly bit down hard on his tongue, and with a “pfft,” a mouthful of blood spat out.
Strangely enough, as the blood came out, Du Fan’s magical power and combat energy instantly returned to their peak levels!
This move was precisely a barbarian secret technique similar to the Holy See’s revival spell—Blood Sacrifice! Du Fan had already learned this move from Ringtone, preparing it as a last resort to save his life. At this moment, Du Fan felt utterly desperate; if not now, when else would he use it? Seeing Du Fan’s combat energy and magic power restored with just one move, how could Oscar fail to recognize what technique he had used? A strange expression appeared on his face as he murmured, “You actually know such a move? It seems I underestimated you!” At that moment, Oscar suddenly snorted and then said with a cold laugh, “It seems I really won’t be a match for you, Du Fan, unless I show some real strength!” With that, Oscar took a deep breath and then slowly exhaled. As he exhaled, the air around him seemed to be drained, and a thin layer of frost immediately formed in the air—clearly, Oscar had pushed his combat energy to its extreme. Du Fan saw this clearly and realized that unless he converted his magic power into the same attribute as his combat energy, he might only be half a match for Oscar; otherwise, he wouldn’t even be able to land a single strike! This was the fundamental gap in their strength! Under such circumstances, combat energy was the only way to confront Oscar. Du Fan acted swiftly, and in no time, his magic power spread throughout his body through the operation of various techniques, instantly turning into combat energy, as if his combat energy had doubled. Seeing this, Oscar’s expression remained unchanged, but he suddenly stepped forward, moving toward Du Fan in mid-air! It should be noted that mages usually float in mid-air using wind-based magic, while warriors typically rely on combat energy to fly. But Oscar neither used combat energy nor magic—he simply “walked” forward, which was extremely strange. As he moved, the air around him became extremely cold; within seven or eight meters around him, it seemed like a frozen wasteland. Those fighting around them instinctively stepped back upon sensing this cold aura, and the corpses and blood on the training ground had already turned to ice—all because of Oscar’s combat energy.
Oscar stepped forward gradually toward Du Fan. Though he knew he could retreat to stay out of his reach, Du Fan seemed unable to think of escaping. As Oscar drew closer, the pressure around them grew heavier, the air becoming increasingly dense and oppressive, as if a massive wall were collapsing toward him with no way to avoid it—this sense of powerlessness was utterly infuriating. Fortunately, Du Fan’s combat energy had been fully activated under such pressure; a pale green aura formed a thin shield around him, preventing Oscar’s energy from overwhelming him, and he refused to back down. Everything around Du Fan was covered in frost, seemingly ready to crush him into powder in an instant, yet it couldn’t do so right away—this contradiction only heightened his frustration. Watching Oscar get closer, Du Fan realized that if Oscar reached him, the sword strike would be beyond anything imaginable. It seemed Oscar was already on the verge of grasping the “rules”… Could it be he had reached the peak of level nine, almost reaching the sacred realm? If so… he was definitely no match for him… Should he flee now to save his life? But even if he ran, the aftereffects of the blood sacrifice might still allow Oscar to chase him effortlessly! As Du Fan raged with thoughts, Oscar arrived in front of him. With a cold smile, he raised his long sword and slowly thrust it at Du Fan. The speed of the strike wasn’t fast—utterly slow—but in Du Fan’s eyes, no matter how weak he was, the sword would inevitably strike him. That seemingly slow strike had already seemingly broken the rules of speed! Oscar was truly at the peak of level nine!!!
