Chapter 010: Chaos Unleashed
Just then, a massive bolt of lightning suddenly appeared in the sky and struck ahead of the rapidly charging cavalry. After hitting the ground, the lightning spread at an incredible speed in all directions. Instantly, hundreds of cavalrymen at the front were thrown off their horses; their armor and weapons turned to dust in an instant, and they fell to the ground along with their horses. They were then trampled into pulp by the cavalry behind them, as if they had never existed in this world.
The imperial army immediately cheered. This scene was like a divine punishment, giving them immense confidence. With the arrival of that lightning, the soldiers of the Bauhinia Dynasty immediately felt a sense of powerlessness.
Originally, these imperial soldiers were somewhat weak, but after feeling that lightning, they became utterly frenzied. They let out a thunderous roar almost simultaneously and charged at their enemies! At that moment, the imperial soldiers seemed fearless of death or pain. For the soldiers of the dynasty, if they couldn’t kill their enemy with a single strike, the enemy would charge at them regardless, willing to sacrifice their own life to sever even just one arm of a dynasty soldier.
Some imperial soldiers seemed indifferent to the blades hitting them. Even if one of their arms was cut off, they ignored it. Instead of lying on the ground screaming in pain, they would pounce suddenly before their opponent could react, use their remaining hand to cut off the enemy’s neck, and then turn to attack another enemy!
Even if they were knocked to the ground and unable to get up, they would use whatever strength they had left to bite off a piece of flesh from their enemy, even if it meant using their teeth.
A soldier from the Bauhinia Dynasty had just knocked an imperial soldier to the ground and was turning to attack the next one when he suddenly felt pain in his foot. Looking down, he saw that the enemy he had knocked over was now clinging to his foot with a fierce expression and biting down hard!
The soldier from the Bauhinia Dynasty screamed in pain. Just as he tried to deliver another strike, an imperial soldier with both arms cut off suddenly pounced on him and bit down hard on his throat. He let out a long scream before collapsing to the ground.
And after he fell, those two soldiers who should have been motionless long ago still charged at the other enemies.
Madmen! These Imperial soldiers are all madmen! They are demons! They are not human!!!
The soldiers of the Bauhinia Dynasty finally collapsed! Perhaps they were in the majority, or perhaps they were determined to restore their kingdom! But no matter how brave or fierce they were, when faced with madmen who feared neither death, pain, nor bloodshed… no, not one, but a whole group…
Even the bravest soldiers would be terrified in the face of such a group of madmen!
Because they realized that apart from cutting off their heads, they had no way of confirming whether they were truly dead!
Looking at the corpses on the ground, they would doubt whether they were Imperial soldiers who hadn’t died completely and might strike them down in an instant.
The battles in the sky were even more brutal than those on the ground. The strong warriors of both sides clashed constantly; with every flash of magic, every burst of combat energy, someone would fall from the sky and turn into flesh paste amidst the sea of troops!
If there was a one-in-ten chance of survival in the battles on the ground, then in the sky, even the slightest carelessness could mean instant death.
At that moment, in the great battle in the sky, Abraham watched in indifference in Oscar’s direction.
He floated mid-air, his expression cold, but whenever any strong warrior from the Bauhinia Dynasty tried to approach him, a slight lift of his hand would send a bolt of lightning from his fingertips, turning that warrior into minced meat as if he had never existed in this world.
After several more attempts by stubborn warriors, those from the Bauhinia Dynasty had no choice but to deliberately avoid Abraham. In their eyes, a warrior of Abraham’s caliber was beyond their reach—even the chance to fight him once was impossible.
Obviously, that thunderous strike that had just come from the sky was also Abraham’s doing.
Often, a peerless strong warrior can rival thousands of troops, and it seems this truth is most evident in such moments.
Oscar stared at Abraham in the sky, his expression as cold as ice. He didn’t know when he had drawn the sword at his waist, waiting only for Abraham to descend!
After all, he was just a warrior. If such a warrior were to fight in mid-air against a magician, especially one extremely powerful, he would likely be reduced to dust even before getting close to him.
But Abraham didn’t seem in a hurry to attack Oscar. With a slight lift of his hand, another massive bolt of lightning shot out from his fingertips this time, striking in front of the cavalry unit charging at the Black Armored Army. Instantly, hundreds of cavalrymen turned to powder!
The tiny number of Templar Knights and Black Armored Army soldiers took this opportunity to unite and charge back at the Purple Blossom Dynasty’s cavalry.
In war, charging cavalry are often far more formidable than those staying in place, while those staying put are slightly stronger than panicked cavalry…
Now, charging cavalry faced panicked cavalry—there seemed no need for further explanation as to the outcome… Moreover, above the Templar Knights, a dozen or so divine spellcasters continued to unleash their spells.
Oscar’s eyes twitched slightly as he let out a soft sigh. “Is this what they mean by ‘one wrong step leads to ruin’?”
Duke Belinger beside him said calmly, “Young master, even if they can hold out for now, they won’t last long against such overwhelming strength.”
Oscar wore a peculiar expression for a moment before saying, “The 50,000 troops we brought this time are the elite of our army… If we suffer too heavy losses to achieve a narrow victory, it won’t benefit us at all… It seems we should deal with the problem in the sky first!”
After saying that, Oscar glanced at the sky before adding indifferently, “Prince Belinger, could you please ask that man to take action? Tell him that if he does, I’ll agree to all his conditions!”
Duke Belinger quickly bowed and said, “Of course!”
Then he stepped back a few steps, joining Oscar’s guards, and said calmly, “Master… The young master has agreed to your request—provided you can resolve the problem in the sky!”
Suddenly, one of the guards let out a harsh laugh. “If you had agreed earlier, we wouldn’t have wasted so many people!”
As soon as he spoke, a mass of dark energy emerged from his armor and rushed toward Abraham in mid-air like a human figure, while the rest of his armor clattered to the ground.
At that moment, Abraham seemed to sense something as well. He glanced toward where the dark mist was approaching and suddenly exclaimed in surprise, “It’s you! You’re not dead?”
The mass of dark mist drifted in front of Abraham and slowly solidified into a tangible form. The figure held a magnificent magic staff and gave it a slight nod toward Abraham, saying calmly, “There have been many who wanted me dead this lifetime… But even that old fool Edward couldn’t take my life… Do you really think the Great Prince, with his meager skills, could kill me with just one strike? Abraham!”
A face with a ferocious smile appeared before Abraham’s eyes, radiating undisguised murderous intent! It was the forbidden magic master! Ampere!!!
On the platform, Prince Fischer watched everything quietly. The frantic slaughter between the two sides didn’t cause even the slightest disturbance in him. Bishop Aaron had already floated into the air, casting several holy light spells to protect the people around him. After all, he knew well that the empire’s elite were crucial pillars supporting the Holy Church. If they all perished here, the impact on the Holy Church would be immeasurable.
The soldiers below the platform fought with astonishing strength. Though they were weaker in both stamina and numbers, they seemed to unleash all their potential, using barely ten thousand remaining troops to hold off an army several times their size…
Could this be the so-called power of faith? Or did the God of Light truly favor his believers?
Even Du Fan, who had proposed this idea, was deeply shocked by what he saw. Just a false miracle could create such a powerful army. If all believers were this fanatical, then who could stand against the Holy Church on the Roland Continent?
Presumably, the empires on the continent understood this, which is why, while embracing faith, they also strived to curb the growth of the Holy Church…
Faith was indeed like blind obedience—this was one of Du Fan’s favorite things in life…
