Chapter 011: The Magician’s Battle (4)
Across from Abraham, after Brisbane used this demon-summoning spell, it seemed as though all his strength had been drained. His face turned extremely pale, and large beads of sweat streamed down his forehead. He trembled weakly, his magic robe soaked through with cold sweat, as if it had been soaked in water.
Some astute nobles realized that after using this spell, Brisbane was at his limit. At any moment, the great magician might lose control of his magic due to depleted energy and be reduced to nothingness.
Yet despite this, Brisbane showed no signs of giving up. He glared fiercely at Abraham and suddenly pulled out a light green magic potion from his robe and drank it, which slightly improved his complexion.
Immediately afterward, he waved his staff again. This time, countless spatial ripples appeared around him, and a swarm of bone birds, reduced to nothing but bones, flew out and quickly filled the sky over the training ground.
Seeing this, Abraham frowned once more but said nothing.
Brisbane, after using his move, fixed his gaze on Abraham. With a sinister smile and a hint of weakness, he said, “Master Abraham… It seems today, it’s either you die or I live! But I wonder how much of this attack you can withstand!”
With that, Brisbane waved his staff again. The bone birds in the sky let out a chorus of whimpers before diving fiercely toward Abraham. Meanwhile, the giant skeletons on the ground also stepped forward toward him.
Abraham smiled slightly and said, “As a great magician, it’s impressive that you can create such a scene… But if that’s all, then you’re still not my match!”
As the swarm of bone birds grew closer, Abraham raised his hands slightly and skillfully sent out golden threads. These threads quickly landed on the heads of the birds in the front row, causing their whimpers to vanish instantly. Golden light covered their bodies, and after struggling for a moment, the golden birds suddenly twisted mid-air and rushed back at the incoming swarm.
For a moment, the black bone birds and golden bone birds collided with each other, filling the air with dark and golden auras as bone powder drifted everywhere, creating a truly apocalyptic scene. As nearly half of the bone birds turned golden, Brisbane’s expression suddenly darkened. Then he opened his mouth wide and spat out a mouthful of black blood with a “Wah—” sound. Wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, the great mage was shocked and couldn’t help but exclaim, “Control magic… It’s actually control magic! Damn it, this Abraham really knows everything!” Control magic is a spell that uses mental power to control summoned creatures. The controlled creatures no longer obey their original master’s commands but immediately side with the enemy… Thus, this powerful spell has always been the greatest fear of spellcasters specializing in summoning. However, this spell has always been considered a secret art. Although there are many mages on the continent, few can master it. Seeing Abraham use this spell, how could Brisbane not be astonished? He realized that if Abraham could control the bone birds he summoned, he might just as easily control the giant skeleton he had summoned next. Immediately, Brisbane made up his mind, bit his tongue hard, and spewed out a mouthful of bright red blood, which instantly turned the sky into a bloodstorm that fell upon the giant skeleton. Sensing the blood scent, the skeleton’s aura of death grew even stronger, and its black flames seemed to be burning fiercely. This was exactly what Brisbane had been waiting for. Ignoring Abraham’s further plans, he quickly commanded the giant skeleton to charge at him. The skeleton let out a loud roar, opened its massive mouth, and saw a wave of black flames sweeping toward Abraham’s location. Even from afar, one could sense the intense aura of death within them. Abraham frowned slightly, gently tapped his hands a few times, and soon a thin barrier of light appeared in front of him. When the black flames reached the barrier, they instantly split into two streams and dispersed to either side. But at the same time, the thin barrier kept emitting a “hiss” sound, clearly unable to hold up much longer under the pressure of the black flames. Seeing this, Abraham smiled lightly and said, “Interesting… Let me think. To counter your necromancy, the holy light magic of the Holy Church must be the best… But that might be a bit too harsh… How about we have summoned creatures fight against other summoned creatures?”
As he spoke, Abraham raised his right hand, and a fiery red ring flew out. When it reached his face, it suddenly turned to powder with a “ding” sound. Then, Abraham pointed vaguely at the spot where the fiery red ring had shattered, and a crack appeared in the air. After a sharp cry, a firebird over five meters tall rushed out from it. Once out, the firebird opened its mouth wide and unleashed a blast of flames, just in time to block the red flames emitted by the giant skeleton. It then spread its sharp claws and lunged at the giant skeleton. The firebird and the giant skeleton clashed, with red and black flames bursting forth from time to time. It was impossible to tell who would win at first glance. Brisbane’s expression changed drastically. He had used all the moves he could, and his magic power was almost exhausted. Yet Abraham had easily countered his ultimate attack—there was no need to question who was stronger. Seeing Brisbane’s expression, Abraham smiled slightly and said, “Master Brisbane… it seems you have no more tricks up your sleeve. In that case, let’s not waste time. How about I send you on your way now?” With that, Abraham raised his right hand again. This time, only the ring on his index finger glowed, and then a wave of cold air rushed toward Brisbane. The cold air was extremely intense; wherever it passed, the moisture in the air turned into ice, as if a wave of ice was spreading toward Brisbane. Even the bone birds that happened to be there were instantly frozen, unable to move at all. Watching this, Brisbane’s face turned deathly pale. He couldn’t move, nor could he do nothing but watch helplessly as everything unfolded. Behind Brisbane, Barbari was still gathering magic power, planning to attack after a short rest. But he never expected Brisbane to be defeated in an instant. Now, he couldn’t afford to rest either. He thrust his magic wand forward, and the last beam of light in front of him rushed toward the incoming cold air. With a “boom,” that last beam of light also turned to powder, but Abraham’s cold air was blocked by this collision.
Seeing this, Abraham simply smiled lightly and said, “Very good. Master Barbari, you’ve recovered too? I was worried that after Master Brisbane died, there would be no one to play with me… But it seems I can rest easy now!”
At that moment, Abraham suddenly spread his arms wide as if embracing the entire world. Then, colorful lights emerged from all over his body, and various spells surged toward Barbari and Brisbane like a tide.
Barbari gritted his teeth and pulled the weak Brisbane behind him, then raised his magic wand high and quickly recited a long string of spells.
One after another, magical shields and barriers appeared around the two of them, creating a dazzling array of colorful lights that were too bright to look at directly.
Soon, Abraham’s spells collided with the magical barriers summoned by Barbari. Although Barbari had created many shields and barriers, their power seemed weak. With each impact from Abraham’s spells, one shield or barrier turned to dust. As Barbari continued to summon more, his expression grew increasingly grim. In the end, he felt his magic reserves were almost exhausted, yet he still couldn’t block all of Abraham’s attacks.
A look of despair finally appeared on the great mage’s face… As a magician himself, he knew well that given the number of spells Abraham could summon, if all of his own shields and barriers were destroyed… he would surely be left in ashes!
As one after another of his defenses were shattered…
By the time the last barrier was destroyed, Barbari had already closed his eyes. But after a moment, he realized he was still unharmed, and the magical lights in the air had disappeared. Clearly, Abraham had calculated precisely—the number of spells he sent was just enough to destroy all of Barbari’s defenses, neither more nor less.
Such mastery! Such foresight! It was likely on par with President Edward!
