Chapter 005: Air Battle
Du Fan simply smiled lightly and didn’t say any unnecessary words. He let go of Eileen beside him and stepped outside, giving Alex’s shoulder a casual tap before saying calmly, “General Alex, I’d like to borrow your long sword for a moment.”
Alex hesitated for a moment, glancing back at Prince Fischer. After seeing the prince nod slightly, he handed his long sword to Du Fan and said softly, “Then be careful, Lord Du Fan.”
With that, Alex slowly stepped in front of Prince Fischer. Though he no longer held a sword, his gaze remained vigilant.
Du Fan weighed the long sword in his hand before looking up at Leoport, whose face was dark with tension. With a slight smile, he said, “I’m ready. What about you, Your Highness?”
Leoport sized Du Fan up strangely before finally snorting and saying, “A fool who doesn’t know death!”
Without wasting further words, he drew his sword from one of his subordinates and charged at Du Fan.
As Leoport rushed forward, his sword moving like lightning, Du Fan’s eyes flashed briefly before he lifted his sword slightly and pointed it upward.
“Clang—”
A sharp sound of metal colliding echoed, followed by bursts of flames in the air. Both men’s wrists trembled slightly, and Du Fan couldn’t help but frown inwardly.
That strike had been a test from both sides, so neither had used combat energy—just relied on raw wrist strength. Yet from that brief contact, Du Fan felt numbness in his palm as his sword trembled continuously. It seemed Prince Leoport, though appearing somewhat delicate, possessed remarkable strength. His gentle strike already revealed his astonishing skill level.
His words to Alex hadn’t been an exaggeration at all. With Alex’s skills, he was likely no match for him.
Moreover, judging from his swordsmanship, Prince Leoport must have dedicated many years to martial arts—someone who started learning late like him could hardly compare!
Thinking this, Du Fan took a deep breath, placing his sword across his chest as he watched his opponent warily.
But in truth, Leoport was also secretly surprised at that moment. Although he hadn’t used combat energy in his move just now, his charge carried considerable momentum. Moreover, though his sword strike was casual, it contained a hint of hidden strength. Over the years, those who had fought him with swords had all been sent flying with their swords still in hand after just the first probing strike. Yet, he never expected this seemingly ordinary noble young man to be able to block his sword strike without showing any change in expression.
Leoport couldn’t help but laugh, speaking coldly with a hint of arrogance, “Impressive! It seems killing you will indeed be a bit difficult! But don’t worry! I definitely won’t let you die so easily!”
Du Fan snorted and simply said, “Arrogant! Who will kill whom is still to be seen!”
Leoport laughed heartily and said, “I can be certain of one thing—it will definitely be me who kills you!”
Du Fan frowned and remained silent. Instead, he raised his sword, and a faint white light enveloped its blade. This pale light seemed to carry a sacred glow, flickering gently.
Leoport smirked darkly, a hint of surprise in his eyes, and said softly, “Light combat energy? Interesting! Coincidentally, I also practice light combat energy. How about we see who’s stronger?”
With that, Leoport swung his sword slightly. Following his movement, a white light covered his blade as well. With that swing, a sword aura traced a deep line across the ground. “Then let’s not waste time! Let’s start!”
Du Fan gripped his sword tightly, while his other hand gently grasped a magic scroll hidden in his sleeve. Then he let out a fierce shout and charged at Leoport, a sword aura like a rainbow shooting toward him.
A glint appeared in Leoport’s eyes. He neither retreated nor advanced and swung his sword fiercely…
“Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang—”
With several loud noises, the swords of the two clashed repeatedly. The combat energies colliding created gusts of wind, scattering everything in the pavilion everywhere. The warriors who were already on the ground were sent flying into the air before crashing down violently. As for those who were standing, they all couldn’t help but take a few steps back, gathering in the corners of the pavilion.
White light kept flashing on the long swords in both men’s hands. Sparks flew everywhere as their swords collided, and bursts of energy exploded around them, while the floor beneath their feet emitted continuous creaking sounds! Clearly, with such intense fighting, the pavilion was about to collapse!
Du Fan had also given it his all, using several sword techniques he had just learned from Anthony’s sacred scriptures, but they were all blocked by his opponent. His plan to end the fight quickly had failed. Hearing the constant creaking beneath his feet, Du Fan feared the worst—if this continued, even this “Fairy Residence” might be destroyed.
Originally, destroying an brothel wasn’t something he couldn’t handle, but this place had complex backgrounds, and he had Prince Fischer and others behind him. If they were hurt in the slightest, his life might be at stake.
With this in mind, Du Fan swung his sword fiercely, sending a gust of sword energy that pushed Leopold back. Then he smiled coldly and said, “I can’t use my skills here! What’s the point of fighting? If you’re brave, follow me!”
With that, Du Fan vanished in a flash, leaping out through a window of the pavilion and soaring into the air. Leopold sneered, pointed his sword, and rushed in Du Fan’s direction. A bright light flashed on the blade—clearly, he intended to force a direct confrontation while Du Fan was unable to dodge in mid-air.
Seeing his intention, Du Fan understood right away. Being in mid-air with no chance to dodge, he gritted his teeth, his combat energy flaring intensely, and his sword glowing brightly. Then, aiming at Leopold’s position, he swung down from above.
Leopold, already at the end of his strength, faced Du Fan’s attack with a fierce grin. But as soon as his sword made contact with Du Fan’s, his hand trembled violently. He felt as though Du Fan’s strike was like a mountain pressing down on him.
Leopold tried to fly upward, but after taking Du Fan’s attack, he lost all his strength and plummeted to the ground with a “thud,” landing on the street in front of the Fairy Residence.
Prince Fischer and Leopold’s men rushed out of the pavilion and stood on the terrace to watch. Everyone inside the Fairy Residence was also alarmed, and men and women rushed out in disheveled clothes.
When they came out, seeing Du Fan with a long sword in hand and his combat energy burning brightly as he landed on the roof, they couldn’t help but cheer one after another! You see, most people in the capital recognized Du Fan. Seeing him with his combat energy blazing and his sword shining, it was obvious he had just fought someone—how could they not be excited? As for LeoPorter’s dozen or so subordinates standing on the terrace, they merely sneered at the crowd below without saying a word. Just then, with a loud “boom,” a figure shot up from the ground! LeoPorter let out a fierce cry and appeared in mid-air, his combat energy burning fiercely—clearly Du Fan’s attack hadn’t hurt him at all. Yet a flash of anger crossed his eyes, but instead of charging at Du Fan, he landed on another building and stared at him from afar. Du Fan looked at him and sneered, saying, “You’re unharmed? Then try taking a couple more attacks!” With that, Du Fan waved his hand, sending two beams of light toward LeoPorter, one to the left and one to the right. But LeoPorter didn’t even glance at them. He seemed to close his eyes and suddenly recited a strange spell. As he spoke, a layer of black combat energy appeared on his sword alongside the white combat energy, like burning black fire! The two beams of light sent by Du Fan reached him, and with a casual lift of his hand, he sent them flying back to the ground, where sparks immediately erupted. Then, LeoPorter suddenly sneered, as if about to vanish. In an instant, he flashed forward and appeared in front of Du Fan, swinging his sword down at him! Du Fan felt a figure suddenly appear before him, leaving him with hardly any time to react. He managed to raise his sword in front of his chest, but when LeoPorter’s sword struck, he felt an overwhelming force that forced him to step back several times. At the same time, a strange sensation spread throughout his body—like being struck by lightning. Du Fan staggered, wanting to retreat a few steps. For a moment, he even felt as though all his strength had been drained! Then there was a loud explosion as the two swords collided, emitting intense light. Du Fan let out a groan as the roof above him collapsed, sending him crashing into the room below!
