Chapter 015: Bone Dragon
The battle between Du Fan and Ampere was nearing its end. Inside the massive magic circle beneath Ampere’s feet, a black aura of death continuously spread. The trees lying on the ground around it emitted harsh “hissing” sounds whenever touched by this deadly aura, along with a foul smell of burning. Soon, this aura of death began to surge like boiling water. Ampere, inside the magic circle, gripped the Holy Radiance Staff in both hands before suddenly pointing it at the ground!
Boom—
An astonishing pressure surged out like waves. Du Fan felt a heavy weight on his head and nearly fell to the ground. Then he heard a roar that sounded like a scream! The black aura of death quickly coalesced into a fully formed, pitch-black Bone Dragon!
Du Fan sighed. A Bone Dragon! It was actually a Bone Dragon! It was said that summoning such a necromantic creature required at least a level 9 necromancer. Yet this Ampere, though not a standard necromancer, was still able to do this! From this, it was clear that his reputation as a forbidden magic master was well-deserved!
Ampere noticed the expression on Du Fan’s face and sneered. He flew into the air and landed on top of the Bone Dragon. Then he pointed the Holy Radiance Staff at the dragon’s head…
Suddenly, the Bone Dragon opened its mouth and roared—a sound filled with humiliation and resentment, yet also brimming with murderous intent and arrogance.
Standing atop the Bone Dragon, Ampere stared at Du Fan and suddenly grinned viciously. “Little Du Fan… are you doomed this time?”
With that, he tapped the Holy Radiance Staff lightly again. The Bone Dragon opened its maw wide and unleashed a torrent of black dragon breath, rushing toward Du Fan like an unstoppable force.
Du Fan grunted in pain. No matter how brave or confident he was, he didn’t think he could match a Bone Dragon. He threw a few wind blades before retreating at lightning speed.
Ampere seemed to have anticipated this. He sneered from atop the dragon’s head and said, “Just running away? Useless. I want to see whether you can escape faster or if my Bone Dragon can fly faster!”
Then, raising his staff, he commanded the Bone Dragon, which spread its skeletal wings and soared after Du Fan’s fleeing direction.
After all, a Bone Dragon was still just a Bone Dragon, not a true dragon. Though it could fly and move at great speed, it couldn’t soar high at all—almost gliding just above the ground! Although its speed was faster than Du Fan’s, as Du Fan moved through the jungle effortlessly, the Bone Dragon could only charge straight at him. With trees blocking the way, its speed inevitably slowed down. Yet these trees would rot within moments under the intense aura of death. Though Du Fan kept retreating deeper into the forest, the distance between them continued to shrink. Finally, the Bone Dragon was right in front of him, and Ampere’s cold smirk appeared in Du Fan’s line of sight. Du Fan’s heart turned icy. Just as he was about to change direction, Ampere raised his Holy Radiance Staff and shouted at Du Fan, “Go!” The Bone Dragon opened its mouth and spat out another blast of dragon breath. Du Fan desperately tried to dodge in various directions, but with Ampere’s guidance, the dragon breaths circled around him relentlessly. Realizing he couldn’t avoid this attack this time, Du Fan gritted his teeth. His combat energy flashed, and his Light Combat Energy ignited! Before he could get ready, the dragon breaths surged like a tide. Du Fan felt his movements stiffen, as if the air around him had become extremely viscous. Eventually, he could barely move at all. Worse still, his Light Combat Energy seemed to be suppressed by the dragon breaths. Despite his efforts to boost it, his energy kept being eroded by them. Seizing that Du Fan was struggling, Ampere’s voice suddenly rang out coldly, “Kid, it’s useless. Though Light Combat Energy has an innate resistance to the aura of death, what you’re facing now isn’t just that. It contains dragon breaths. Even old Anthony would have to be extremely careful to deal with it. You definitely can’t handle it. Just accept your fate!” Du Fan snorted and said, “I doubt it!” With a final effort, he pulled out a magic scroll hidden in his sleeve and threw it. With a loud “boom,” the intense dragon breaths were blown apart. Seizing the opportunity, he flew sharply to the side. But after flying less than half the way, his combat energy ran out, and he crashed to the ground, unable to get up for a while.
In his haste earlier, Du Fan had managed to keep his direction in mind. But now, after falling to the ground, he found himself back at the very place where he had been ambushed. Corpses lay everywhere; Alva, the top expert in the inner court, was lying on the ground, his fate unknown. A few remaining masked warriors were gathering the corpses, while the secret guards watched from the far edge of the crowd. Then they all saw Du Fan fly out from a corner of the forest and land on the ground. Before these people could react, Ampere and the giant bone dragon beneath his feet tore through the trees blocking their path. Seeing the scene before them, Ampere seemed stunned for a moment, but after a short while, he sneered and said coldly to Du Fan on the ground, “Du Fan, it seems fate truly wants you dead… You ran around aimlessly and ended up back in the ambush zone… Isn’t this seeking death? Even if I don’t take action now, those guys can still take your life, right?” At that, Ampere glanced coldly at the warriors and secret guards and said, “Watch carefully from the side. Don’t let this cunning brat escape again… I’m in a bad mood today. I’ll just pull out his soul here and turn it into a necromantic creature!” The warriors around exchanged glances. They seemed to know Master Ampere’s identity as well and quickly stepped aside, but they all watched Du Fan coldly. Du Fan sighed and slowly stood up from the ground. He brushed off the dust on his clothes and after a moment, he gave a faint smile to Master Ampere, who was still standing atop the dragon’s head, saying, “Old monster, is this your last resort against me? You even hesitated to use it against Edward? Is this trick… about the outnumbered bullying the few?” Ampere was stunned for a moment, then laughed angrily and said, “Good! Very good! Little Du Fan… You really want to die early, don’t you? Since you’re asking me to do this, then I won’t be polite with you!” With that, he swung his Sacred Radiance Staff violently, and the giant bone dragon stepped forward toward Du Fan. Du Fan snorted and said, “Old monster, do you really think we’d come back here just because of bad luck? You’re wrong. We came back here because my luck was simply too good… Old monster, the biggest mistake you’ve made in your life is not summoning the bone dragon from the start. If you had, I might have already died. As for now…”
At this point, Du Fan’s expression turned stern. His mental energy radiated outward without any reservation. Ampere frowned slightly, about to say something. But before he could, a voice filled with strange magical power came from Du Fan. It seemed calm as he said, “Very well… Distinguished warriors and powerful secret guards, could you do me a favor and help me take care of this Bone Dragon in front of me, as well as Master Ampere?” A silent yet imposing aura slowly spread, causing the Bone Dragon to become restless. Then, the masked warriors and secret guards who had been standing still suddenly raised their weapons and charged toward the Bone Dragon! Seeing this, Du Fan stepped back slowly. Looking at Ampere’s terrified face, he sneered, “Old monster, Master Ampere… Do you think it’s my luck that’s good now, or yours?” Ampere’s expression changed rapidly as he watched the warriors and secret guards charging at him and the Bone Dragon. He shouted loudly, “Are you all crazy? Do you all want to betray the Crown Prince?” But before he could finish speaking, those warriors and secret guards had already reached the Bone Dragon! The Bone Dragon swept its front claws, sending several warriors flying into the air. Its body quickly began to rot. But since these warriors had been assigned to assassinate Prince Fischer, their skills were undoubtedly strong. Influenced by Du Fan’s mental command, they fought desperately. Though their bodies were under control, their fighting instincts remained. Seeing their comrades get knocked aside, the remaining warriors quickly drew their swords, and various types of combat energy rushed at the Bone Dragon! Although the number of secret guards was small, their strength was immense. The three-meter-long battle spears in their hands were engulfed in blazing flames as they were thrown at the Bone Dragon! In just a few moments, over a dozen spears pierced the Bone Dragon’s body. A massive wave of death energy surged from the wounds, causing more warriors to rot.
