Chapter 003: Heresy

Oldas was covered in dust, his warhorse also scarred all over, yet his beautiful face bore a look of weariness.
Du Fan watched him from afar and couldn’t help but sigh, saying, “Truly worthy of being Oldas—still maintaining such grace even under these circumstances! That warhorse seems to be nothing ordinary either. What a shame.”
Xiao Yulong beside him hesitated for a moment before saying, “Young Master Du Fan… that’s standard equipment of the Imperial Defense Army.”
Du Fan nodded lightly and said, “Was it stolen? I see!”
After that, he said nothing more and simply continued to watch from afar.
On the East Gate Street, Oldas faced the dense ranks of the Imperial Defense Army with unshaken courage. He gazed at Kris tied to the stone pillar, a faint smile appearing on his face. After a moment, he smiled softly and said gently, “Lil, don’t be afraid. I’m here!”
His voice was soft, but everyone present felt it was heart-stopping.
Kris suddenly opened her eyes and said softly, “Old… you shouldn’t have come… Go away quickly!”
The faint smile on her face vanished completely, replaced by utter terror.
Oldas shook his head slightly but said nothing more. His gaze shifted to the platform, his deep hatred evident without any disguise.
Du Fan sneered but waved his hand lightly.
Joshua sighed softly but stepped forward and snapped, “Oldas! Are you trying to commit blasphemy? It’s not too late to turn back! At the very least, think of your family and loved ones. If you stop this heresy trial today, you’ll push your family to the brink of destruction!”
Oldas laughed heartily, “What heresy! What trial! What blasphemy! If there really is such a thing as blasphemy in this world, then the one who deserves to be tied to a stone pillar and burned to death is you! Du Fan!!!”
Du Fan slammed his hand on the armrest, stood up, and shouted fiercely, “How dare you!”
Oldas smiled silently. A fierce battle aura burned around him as he pointed his spear at the platform. With a loud shout, his warhorse charged forward.
In an instant, the sound of hooves echoed like thunder!
Du Fan sneered and said softly, “Oldas has defied the trial—treat him as a heretic and kill him!”
Joshua sighed slightly and said, “Du Fan, so this is your plan! In that case, even if you kill Oldas, no one will dare object! But don’t you feel guilty yourself?”

Du Fan said calmly, “Everything I do is in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Scripture. What is there to feel guilty about?”
Joshua let out a long sigh, raised his hand, hesitated for a moment, but then swung it forcefully!
The imperial city defense troops on the main street received orders and immediately spurred their horses into action, charging at Ordas in rows of ten!
Ordas roared fiercely, and boiling silver combat energy surged from his warhorse. A faint yellow glow surrounded the silver energy, spreading rapidly up his spear!
He roared again, this time his voice sounding like a thunderclap. The cavalry horses in the front line were startled and stood still. Before the riders could control their horses, the spear engulfed in combat energy suddenly grew several feet long. The blazing energy melted the riders’ armor, and the spear tip pierced through their chests without any resistance. With a muffled sound, their upper bodies were blown to dust!
The flaming spear traced a straight path, passing through the hundred-meter-long street and through the chests of two Templar knights, heading toward the stone pillar in the center of the square.
Its target was clearly the stone pillar!
Du Fan’s expression changed. Just as he was about to act, one of the Templar knights in front of him suddenly lunged forward, drawing his Holy Cross sword. A beam of pure, radiant combat energy formed a glowing arc and slashed at the spear!
But as soon as the sword touched the spear, blood sprayed from his mouth, and he was pushed several steps back.
It was then that Du Fan realized it was Ferre who had acted!
Seeing Ferre about to be killed by the spear, a figure flashed beside Du Fan. Xiao Yulong merged his sword with his body mid-air and unleashed a holy cross slash that landed precisely on the back of the spear. Yet his expression also changed, and he stepped back several steps!
By now, Joshua’s face had turned pale. He flashed forward and arrived at the spear. Before he could even draw his Holy Cross sword, he gently tapped the spear tip.
With a thunderous muffled sound, the lower-ranked Templar knights in the vicinity began bleeding from all seven orifices!
Joshua’s body trembled, but he gritted his teeth. A faint golden combat energy flashed across his body, followed by another muffled sound—the burning energy on the spear was finally extinguished.
The spear broke into dozens of pieces, all falling to the ground. Joshua’s hand trembled, and the exquisite scabbard of his Holy Cross sword turned to dust!

Gritting his teeth, he retreated to Du Fan’s side, a trickle of blood seeping from the corner of his mouth. Du Fan glanced back indifferently but suddenly said, “What impressive martial skills!” His tone was casual, but it was unclear whether he was praising Aldas or Joshua! Even though Joshua had a gentle disposition, he couldn’t help but feel extremely frustrated at this moment. After saying that, Du Fan said nothing more, his gaze once again falling on Aldas. Aldas casually grabbed a long spear held by a cavalryman, then shook it slightly—energy burst forth, turning the cavalryman into minced meat, while the steel spear ended up in Aldas’ hands! With the spear in hand and energy swirling around him like a war god descended from heaven, he charged into the imperial defense forces. His spear strikes were like a downpour of arrows, with streaks of blood appearing here and there as cavalrymen were hit in the forehead, throat, or heart. Not a single one of those hundreds of cavalrymen could withstand Aldas’ attacks! Watching this, Du Fan suddenly smiled faintly and said, “How useless. The imperial defense forces can’t even stop one person? It seems I should help them out!” With that, Du Fan waved his hand lightly. The northern legion cavalry, now equipped with crossbows, received orders and immediately fired a barrage of arrows at Aldas. By then, Aldas had advanced nearly a hundred meters, killing almost all the imperial defense forces along the street. As the arrow rain approached, he sneered and leaped into the air! Below him, his horse and the remaining dozen or so cavalrymen were riddled with arrows, looking like porcupines dead on the ground! After the arrow storm, Aldas slowly landed. Behind him, hundreds of people lay dead, and the blood had almost dyed the entire street red. Du Fan snorted, got up from his seat, stepped forward a few steps, and said in a calm tone, “You may go up now!” Though his voice was soft, it seemed to ring in everyone’s ears at the same time. Instantly, a fierce killing intent surged from the hundred or so black-armored heavy knights standing at the end of the street. Their energy burned brightly, and they were all skilled warriors!

These men were ready; they pulled on their reins and charged at Aldas at the same time.
A silver glint flashed in Aldas’s eyes, and the combat energy within him burned even more fiercely. His long spear was swung again and again with each step of his—neither fast nor slow. By the time he reached the end of the street, he had swung it 147 times, and behind him, 147 heavily armored cavalrymen lay dead forever.
Their combat energy couldn’t even protect them in the slightest; even the most powerful warriors couldn’t stop Aldas in the slightest!
Aldas laughed loudly. He threw aside his blood-stained spear and smiled gently at Kris in the square.
Du Fan glanced in Kris’s direction. By now, the holy light had reached her feet, yet she looked blissful, staring only at Aldas as he advanced from the east gate.
The smell of blood filled the entire square; it seemed everyone was stunned by this bloody scene.
Standing on the platform, Du Fan smiled slightly before suddenly saying coldly, “What a remarkable Aldas! Those 147 friends from the Roland Academy were killed by you just like that. If I don’t kill you to avenge them, how can I face the Roland Academy?”
The two who had been gazing at each other affectionately were shocked.
Kris’s happy expression vanished, replaced by terror, but Aldas’s expression changed slightly as he stared at Du Fan and said, “Du Fan, you will pay the price!”
He then smiled softly and said, “Lil, wait for me. Once I’ve taken Du Fan’s head, I’ll bring you home!”
With that, Aldas, with his sword, charged toward the platform where Du Fan stood!
But before he could cover even two meters, the priests on both sides of the platform launched attacks simultaneously. Holy light swords, arcane missiles, and divine shocks poured down on him. In less than a moment, dozens of summoned contract creatures also attacked Aldas.
Fireworks exploded above the east gate of the square, and various spells collided with each other, creating countless magical shocks. The entire area around the east gate was reduced to rubble. If it weren’t for the magic arrays set up around to provide protection, perhaps the entire city of Modo would have been destroyed today!
