Chapter 019: Isella Appears
Gannon’s lips twitched slightly as he forced a pleasant smile. Suddenly, he felt the air around him turn scorching hot, and a massive wall of fire enveloped his body. Gannon only managed to let out a scream before being instantly swallowed by the flames.
Du Fan, on the other hand, quickly ran to Ringo’s side, lifted the unconscious Ringo with effort, and without hesitation, turned and ran outside the hall. With his current strength, Du Fan couldn’t use even a fraction of his power inside this so-called divine realm. Fortunately, he had already obtained the Divine Origin earlier. When Gannon had drained his Angelic Power, a small amount of it remained in Du Fan’s body—so little that even Gannon hadn’t noticed it.
Inside this divine realm, Du Fan’s entire strength was sealed, except for the Divine Origin, which could be considered an independent entity. Although his normal strength was sealed, that tiny amount of Divine Origin power couldn’t be sealed at all. That’s why Du Fan was able to use that little Divine Origin power to activate the Angelic Power left in Gannon’s body and cast that spell. Of course, this was only possible once. Using the spell again would be absolutely impossible!
Yet Du Fan knew well that although the sudden attack could inflict some damage on Gannon, it certainly wouldn’t kill him. After using this move at great cost, his only option was to take advantage of Gannon’s confusion and flee…
As for where he could flee to, Du Fan didn’t know yet. But anywhere was better than waiting to die in that great hall.
Unfortunately, Du Fan’s hopes were dashed. No matter how fast he ran, it was still just an ordinary human speed. Although the hall wasn’t very large, it took Du Fan a while to carry Ringo out of it. But as soon as they reached the door, they heard a loud “boom.” Looking back, the flames had completely disappeared.
Gannon stepped out of the flames. Though he looked a bit disheveled, his face was filled with rage. Staring at Du Fan, he said coldly, “Good! Very good! You actually managed to use the Angelic Power I accidentally left in your body to attack me! Young Master Du Fan, I really underestimated you!”
As soon as those words were spoken, Du Fan felt his vision blur. Gannon’s figure seemed to emerge from thin air and reappeared before him once again. Du Fan’s heart trembled with fear—he knew that this kind of “instant teleportation” skill could only be achieved by mastering the laws of space… Now that Gannon had used this technique, it meant this angel still possessed divine-level power even within this sacred realm. In other words, even if Du Fan had the strength of his peak ninth level at that moment, he wouldn’t stand a chance against Gannon, let alone now that he had no strength left at all! Faced with Gannon’s overwhelming pressure, if it weren’t for the faint support from the divine essence in his consciousness sea, Du Fan would likely have fainted countless times by now! A glint of golden light flashed in Gannon’s eyes, as if he could see through everything. Staring at Du Fan, he said in a deep voice, “Young Master Du Fan, quite impressive skills!” Du Fan forced a wry smile and replied, “No matter how good my skills are, they can’t compare to yours, Lord Gannon!” Gannon snorted and said, “I never expected Young Master Du Fan to have such abilities. It seems there are indeed many secrets hidden about you. I dislike uncertainties. I thought I’d have some fun, but you’ve given me too many surprises… So, I’ve decided to take your life now. Goodbye, Young Master Du Fan!” Gannon waved his hand slightly, and a tiny spatial magic array appeared before him. He slowly drew out the Desire Angel Battle Spear from it, smiled, and said, “Young Master Du Fan, this is Spalitis’s battle spear. You defeated him, but his spear will now claim your life. Such is fate!” As soon as he finished speaking, Gannon quickly raised his hand and tapped it slightly. The Desire Angel Battle Spear rushed toward Du Fan with a burst of light and flame. What a beautiful spear strike! Du Fan sighed inwardly. Though he wanted to dodge, he had completely lost his strength. For the first time, he realized that in the face of true power, all schemes and tricks were utterly powerless and meaningless. A small mistake in life meant there was no chance to change it anymore! Du Fan sneered at himself in his mind. If only I had power… Would any of this change? Finally, Du Fan’s eyes closed, as if that spear was about to strike his forehead. But just then, a thunderous roar was heard, causing the space around them to tremble slightly.
The Desire Angel Battle Spear in Gannon’s hand paused slightly. He couldn’t help but look up and exclaimed in surprise, “Dragons? Why are there dragons in this place?” Before he could finish speaking, a green breath flashed past like lightning. Gannon’s expression changed instantly. Ignoring Du Fan’s life, he swung his Desire Angel Battle Spear violently, unleashing a beam of holy light that met the incoming green breath head-on. With a soft “pop,” the breath dispersed into all directions mid-air. The flowers that touched it withered rapidly, while the marble ground was corroded into a deep pit. In the sky, a giant and majestic green dragon descended gracefully and landed in front of Du Fan and Ringtone. It stared at Gannon and spoke in a voice like a breath, “Who… exactly are you? Why did you attack the master of my master?” Gannon narrowed his eyes and stepped back a few steps. Pointing at Du Fan with his spear, he said, “Dragon, if I’m not mistaken, you must be a descendant of the Dream Dragon. Why not live peacefully on Dragon Island? What are you doing on the Roland Continent? And how dare you interfere in our angels’ divine punishment of mortals? Aren’t you afraid that the Light of Judgment will fall upon Dragon Island?” Though he said this, Gannon didn’t dare to act right away. He certainly didn’t know that this green dragon, Isela, was only half-baked. From his understanding of dragons, any of them possessed holy-level power. His own body was weak and no match for the dragons’ strong physiques. If a fight broke out, the outcome would be uncertain. Moreover, if a green dragon could reach this place, it proved its strength. Isela tilted her head slightly, glanced at Gannon, and inwardly groaned in frustration. Although her strength wasn’t impressive, her judgment was sharp. She could see at a glance that this self-proclaimed angel might not be stronger than her respected master, but he was definitely more powerful than her. Under normal circumstances, she would have fled long ago, but her master’s master was right behind her. If she ran now, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Recalling Chenchen’s icy gaze, Isella found herself suddenly braver. She stared at Gannon, flashing a smile—of course, a dragon’s smile always seemed cruel—and then said in a deep voice, “An angel?! I don’t care what kind of angel you are… but the one behind you is the master of my great master. If you dare touch him even slightly, I won’t spare you. Even if I’m no match for you, with my great master here, you have no chance of survival!” As she spoke, Isella’s dragon claws trembled slightly, and the ring hooked on her nail was already thrown at Du Fan. Du Fan thought he was doomed, but seeing Isella’s expression, he realized Chenchen must already know his situation. With that guy’s help, he wouldn’t die at the hands of High Priest Gannon. After catching the ring thrown by Isella, Du Fan felt it briefly and understood right away—it was an intermediate storage ring filled with numerous magic scrolls. It seemed Chenchen truly knew him well; without these, his strength would likely be greatly reduced. He slowly put the ring back on and took a few more into his palm. Then, Du Fan placed the bell on Isella’s dragon claw and gestured for her to step back. He stepped forward a few paces, looking straight at Gannon, and said, “Lord Gannon, I’m truly sorry… If I remember correctly, you once said that no creature can break through the thick clouds outside this valley unless it has the wings of a dragon… It seems now that I meet that condition!” Gannon hesitated to act for a moment, frowning and asking, “What do you mean, Young Master Du Fan?” Du Fan gestured and said, “Lord Gannon, look—our situations are similar now. I have a powerful ally, and you’re extremely strong yourself. I think even if you could defeat this green dragon at my side, the cost to you would be high. So why not make a deal?” Gannon fell silent for a while before suddenly smiling and saying, “Young Master Du Fan is right. You were just an insect in my eyes before, but now that our roles have changed, things are very different… Please tell me, what kind of deal can we make?”
