Chapter 011: Chaos
Faced with this move, even Oscar couldn’t afford to be careless. He condensed all his combat energy, preparing himself fully—for if he failed to defend against that deadly strike, he might never get another chance to fight again…
The barbarian warrior had already gathered a tremendous amount of combat energy. The dark fire surrounding him was even more intense than his own aura. His face was twisted in a fierce grin, with runes seemingly moving slowly across it, giving off an eerie and inexplicable vibe. He was about to unleash his devastating Blood Sacrifice…
But at that moment, the barbarian warrior’s ears twitched. A sharp, strange flute sound came from afar—so piercing it seemed like it might explode inside one’s head.
The barbarian warrior immediately recognized it as the summoning signal from that shaman priest!
“Damn it…” he cursed inwardly, filled with both shock and anger.
The only reason for this flute sound was that the shaman priest had lost and was in extreme danger. If he didn’t go to save him, the barbarians would lose yet another shaman priest.
No one who hadn’t lived among the barbarians could understand the significance of shamans to them. Though the barbarian warrior knew he could decide the outcome against this Rolandian in just one move, he had no choice but to give up.
Originally, fighting a worthy opponent was a deep desire in his heart. But now, if he ignored that shaman priest, he might become a villain in the eyes of the barbarians.
Gritting his teeth, he suddenly retracted his combat energy, and the fierce dark fire also subsided. He stared at Oscar from afar and shouted, “Rolandian, let’s end this battle here today! But remember—your head belongs to me… I will definitely come back for it…”
Before he could finish speaking, the barbarian warrior turned and left. His figure vanished like lightning, disappearing into the sky. The direction he went was likely where Du Fan and the shaman priest were fighting.
Oscar watched him leave in confusion, slowly retracting his own combat energy. After thinking for a while, he murmured, “Could it be that the shaman priest really isn’t a match for Young Master Du Fan? How is that possible…? But since he’s gone to rescue him, it’s almost certain the shaman priest has lost—maybe even his life is in danger… Young Master Du Fan is truly remarkable…”
As he spoke, Oscar prepared to turn and leave, but after taking just one step, he suddenly slapped his own head and said, “Damn it! I came out with Du Fan. Everyone knows that if he dies now and I run away, the blame will fall on me…” Before he could finish, he leaped into the air and disappeared, rushing toward the place where Du Fan and the shaman priest were fighting, amidst the blue combat energy.
…
Du Fan heard that shrill fluting sound, and his expression immediately turned uneasy. He snorted and said, “Calling for help… It seems the shaman priest isn’t all that great after all. He still has to rely on others at the last moment. How shameful… If I’m useless, you’re even worse than a useless person…” With that, Du Fan waved his hand and, using all his strength, shouted, “Attack! Everyone, attack! Aim for his head and shoot!”
The barbarian archers, now under Du Fan’s control, quickly sped up their movements. However, having lost their composure, they lacked coordination. After some struggle, a few arrows were shot at the shaman priest.
Though sparse, these attacks were quite accurate. Moreover, the arrows were poisoned, so even a single hit would likely be fatal to the shaman priest!
Swish—swish—swish—
Dozens of arrows were shot, approaching the shaman priest. Although his expression couldn’t be seen, Du Fan guessed his face must have turned green.
Delighted, Du Fan wanted to laugh out loud to express his joy, but at that moment, a dark shadow flashed by, followed by several crackling sounds, and all the arrows were blocked.
Looking closely, Du Fan saw it was the barbarian warrior, who was now holding his strange twin swords. Glancing at the shaman priest, he couldn’t help but say, “Ling… High Priest… What’s going on here? And…” He glared at the archers. “Have you all gone mad? How dare you attack the High Priest?”
The shaman priest seemed relieved upon seeing the barbarian warrior arrive. He said, “These guys are under that bastard’s control. Quickly subdue him, and they’ll be fine. Remember, keep some alive. I still have questions to ask him…” As he spoke, his movements quickened, and the petrification effects slowly faded away.
The barbarian warrior snorted, glanced back at Du Fan, and sneered, “Is it you? I didn’t expect it to be you…” Before he could finish speaking, Du Fan curled his lips and said, “Barbarians are indeed useless. Your shaman priests are no match for me. That’s why you ran over, right? Typical barbarians… You don’t even know not to interfere during a duel. No wonder you can only suffer in the north your whole life…”
“By the way…” Du Fan sneered as he continued, “I heard that you barbarians regard your own people as brothers and would never harm them. Now I really want to see if that’s true!”
“You guys, change your target! Shoot this guy first!” Du Fan pointed with his hand at the barbarian warrior.
This time, the dozen or so archers moved swiftly, drawing their arrows from their quivers and shooting at the barbarian warrior. Unexpectedly, the barbarian warrior just sneered. With incredible speed, he swung his twin swords, cutting down all the arrows in an instant. As he did so, he stepped toward Du Fan and said slowly, “You may control my people with your Roland tricks, but so what? I can still take your life!”
Watching him get closer, Du Fan smiled bitterly. Though he knew the shaman priest wouldn’t let him die so easily, falling into the hands of the barbarians would likely be worse than death.
Determined to face death, Du Fan stared at the barbarian warrior and sneered, “I can control them? Can’t I control you too? Dear barbarian warrior, why don’t you turn around and finish off your own priest?”
As he spoke, blood began to flow from Du Fan’s nostrils—a sign of overusing his mental power. After repeatedly using speech magic, his already strong mental power had been exhausted after continuous battles! If it were another mage, they might have gone mad from mental exhaustion by now, but Du Fan only had a little nosebleed. This showed the precision of his mental power and also proved that the Divine Origin wasn’t completely ineffective.
Unexpectedly, the barbarian warrior laughed upon hearing Du Fan’s words and said, “You brat, what nonsense are you talking?”
The shaman priest smiled weakly, his voice coming from afar: “Kid, it’s useless… The weapon in his hand is Flowering Madness Bone. As long as he holds it, not to mention your Words of Spirit, even the Great Prophecy Spell won’t work on him… Kid, you’d better just accept your fate…”
Du Fan’s expression changed, and he said in a grave tone, “Can that weapon help him resist mental attacks?”
The shaman priest smiled and said, “Of course… That’s why you’d better just surrender this time…”
Du Fan snorted but didn’t reply. He grabbed the Silver Moon Long Sword in his hand, trying to muster some combat energy, only to find that the so-called “Space Ripping Slash” had already drained all his energy, leaving him unable to generate even a trace of it now.
Watching the barbarian warrior approaching closer and closer, Du Fan couldn’t help but sigh. In such a situation, what else could he do but accept his fate?
Just as Du Fan was in dire straits, a sigh suddenly came from behind him. Oscar slowly stepped forward, sighed deeply, and said, “Ah, you guy. You haven’t even finished fighting me yet, and you already come here to cause trouble for others. Don’t you think I, Oscar, am worth considering at all?”
As he spoke, he glanced at Du Fan again and said, “How are you, Young Master Du Fan? Why have you ended up in such a mess? By the way, if I’m not wrong, you now owe me a big favor…”
Du Fan smiled weakly and gasped for breath on the ground. “Stop talking nonsense. Since you’re here, deal with them. If that shaman priest lifts the petrification spell, the two of us are done for!”
Oscar was about to say something.
But the shaman priest suddenly smiled and said, “Hmph… Kid, you’re right. If I lift the petrification spell, the two of you will definitely die… I didn’t want to use this move originally; it was you who forced me…”
