Chapter 017: The Dragon’s Fury
Oldas’s actions had utterly enraged the proud Isella, who was filled with rage!
Since when had these wretched beings dared to rebel against me, Lord Isella?
Isella roared angrily, took a deep breath, and spat out another blast of dragon breath… Seeing this, Oldas’s expression changed drastically. He could imagine what fate would await him if that blast hit him.
Yet, the unthinkable happened.
Midway through Isella’s second blast of dragon breath, the pale green breath suddenly stopped. She tried hard to blow, but nothing came out. Naturally, that half-exhaled breath couldn’t cause even the slightest harm to anyone.
Isella’s body froze mid-air, her flapping wings stopping as well. Before those below could react, she plunged downward. This time, she didn’t spew any dragon breath—instead, her massive claws rushed at Oldas.
Oldas, still sweating from narrowly escaping death, knew he couldn’t retreat under any circumstances. Otherwise, even if he managed to flee, Kris would surely not survive.
As Isella moved, faint sounds of wind and thunder filled the air. Her dragon claws glowed with a chilling light, as if ready to tear everything apart at any moment.
The sword light shone once again!
Oldas followed the sword, soaring into the sky. With a single strike, he aimed to split the green dragon in two.
On Isella’s huge dragon face, an extremely strange expression appeared—resembling human terror. Her attacking form halted mid-air, and with a speed utterly inconsistent with her massive size, she swiftly swung her tail.
Her long tail was covered in scales and a cluster of large, protruding spines. Those spines struck Oldas, who couldn’t dodge in time, like meteorites.
Oldas screamed in pain as he was flung far away like a kite with its string cut. After crashing to the ground, he was unable to get up at all.
Still unsatisfied after knocking Oldas aside, Isella let out a roar toward the sky, her angry eyes scanning the surroundings again! These wretched humans not only disrupted Lord Isella’s eternal rest but also forced her to lose control with their pitiful skills. Unforgivable! Absolutely unforgivable!
Isela flapped its wings and took to the air once again, easily soaring dozens of meters before landing in front of Alfred. Its angry dragon head seemed to snarl, then its tail swept toward Alfred like lightning. Alfred was shocked; holding Nicholas in his arms, he had no time to dodge. He could only muster his combat energy and swing his sword at the dragon tail. A giant cross appeared as he swung, meeting Isela’s tail head-on. The combat energy struck the tail, causing white smoke to rise instantly. Isela trembled violently—the swipe failed to knock it down. Its massive body leaped back several meters, as if guarding against Alfred. Alfred let out a long sigh, holding Nicholas tightly and murmuring. Nicholas, in his arms, was full of tenderness. At this life-or-death moment, the two shared an intense bond, almost as if they were saying, “Even death cannot separate us.” Nearby, Du Fan and the others were hidden in a completely concealed corner. Taking advantage of the pause in the battle between the green dragon Isela and Aldas, Tasia quickly cast a magic circle to conceal their presence. Although this circle offered no other protective effects, it was the best option under these circumstances. Fei Re peeked outside and was stunned. With Alfred and Aldas’ strength, they were not even a match for the green dragon Isela in a single exchange. Could this be the power of a sacred rank? Du Fan and Tasia were also stunned. If they had been a little slower, would they have ended up in that situation? “Something’s wrong…” Just as everyone was lost in thought, Chenchen, who was standing at the back, suddenly spoke in a low voice. Fei Re and Tasia didn’t know Chenchen’s identity, but they knew she was highly skilled and clearly had a close relationship with Du Fan. Hearing her words, they instinctively glanced at Du Fan. Du Fan’s heart stirred as he vaguely understood what Chenchen meant. He quickly glanced back at the battlefield. The green dragon Isela now seemed frightened, still majestic but no longer attacking on its own, as if waiting for something. Doubts grew in Du Fan’s mind. He extended his mental energy and found that Isela’s dragon aura seemed weaker now. Could it be that Isela’s true strength was limited, all just an act?
The more Du Fan thought about it, the more likely it seemed to him. He was originally a bold and daring person. With that thought, he searched in his storage ring for a while before finally finding that set of highly poisonous crossbows. He quietly cast a few auxiliary spells on himself, rolled across the ground to get out of the magic circle’s range, shot an arrow, and then spun around again, returning to the magic circle in the blink of an eye. The arrow laced with poison turned into a tiny shadow and shot toward the green dragon Isela. Moments later, the shadow disappeared into Isela’s massive body. The great and proud Isela was unaware of anything; its attention was entirely on Alfred. The scar on its tail, emitting white smoke, kept reminding it that this humble human had the ability to inflict a small wound on it! Good heavens! You should know that the thing I, Lord Isela, fear the most in this life is pain! The proud Isela already intended to leave—fighting against such insignificant creatures was simply beneath its status! It took a few deep breaths, opened its mouth to unleash a breath of dragon fire to show its strength, but still nothing came out. “Aren’t you afraid that this will expose our location?” Chenchen asked Du Fan softly. Du Fan chuckled and said, “Aren’t you the same way? Didn’t you sense something wrong? Leaving legends aside, just consider the dragon power we sensed earlier. If this dragon’s strength isn’t diminished, how could Alfred and Aldas possibly survive under its attack? If it truly were a sacred-grade dragon, we wouldn’t have had the chance to hide here so safely—we should have been torn to pieces long ago.” Chenchen frowned slightly. Indeed, in that strange space behind the statue, she had sensed a pressure she couldn’t even resist. At first, she thought it was the dragon’s pressure, but now she was certain it wasn’t. This seemingly enormous dragon seemed extremely weak—seeing that it didn’t even dare face Aldas’s sword, it was clear it wasn’t a sacred-grade dragon. But could there be dragons below sacred grade who were useless? “Chenchen,” Du Fan suddenly asked, “what do you think is the weakness of dragons?” “Dragons?” Chenchen shook her head slightly. “I don’t know much about these creatures.” Du Fan’s gaze fell on Ferre and Tasia.
Ferei shook his head with a displeased expression, while Thassia thought for a moment before saying, “I’ve read in ancient texts that even among dragons, there are differences in rank and strength. The sacred dragons at the peak of power naturally have no weaknesses, but lower-tier dragons such as demon dragons, green dragons, silver dragons, and sea dragons all have some weaknesses. For example, some dragons are completely immune to magic but afraid of physical attacks, while others have thick skin but are vulnerable to magical attacks…”
Du Fan nodded and asked, “So what are the weaknesses of this green dragon in front of us?”
Thassia gave a bitter smile and said, “How would I know? This is the first time in my life I’ve encountered a living dragon. If I could see its weaknesses at a glance, would I need to be afraid? But since its skin is green, let’s assume it’s a green dragon. Legends say that green dragons have high immunity to magic but fear physical attacks. If… you have power above the Saint level… then you might consider slaying it…”
Du Fan had indeed been thinking about slaying the dragon, but after hearing Thassia’s words, he felt embarrassed. Although he believed he wasn’t too afraid of those below the Saint level thanks to his cunning tactics, the idea of actually slaying a dragon was utterly ridiculous. Not to mention a dragon, he might not even be able to kill a dragon egg.
Chenchen glanced at Du Fan playfully, then suddenly smiled softly and said, “What? Do you have the courage to go and try? Maybe this dragon will actually let you kill it?”
Annoyed by Chenchen’s gaze, Du Fan thought, “You little fox, do you really enjoy embarrassing me?” He snorted and said in a low voice, “Slay a dragon? How? Even if it’s not at the Saint level, if I go out, I’ll only end up being killed. By then, I’ll just be a dragon killer, not someone who slays dragons.”
Chenchen covered her mouth and laughed again. She glanced at the green dragon Isella a few more times before finally saying in a low voice, “It’s just killing a dragon, right? Du Fan, watch closely… I’ll show you how to do it…”
