Chapter 006: Coercion into Confession

“If I remember correctly, there shouldn’t be any grudges between me and your Roland Academy, right? Of course, you might say that Aldas is one of yours, and his sister lost face in my hands, so your Roland Academy wants to avenge her. But both you and I know that’s not the answer. I want to know why you’re doing this. Is the Bellinger family really that valuable that you’d kill an innocent person like me for it?” At these words, Du Fan smiled self-mockingly, seemingly realizing that the word “innocent” was a bit exaggerated.
Elvis’s expression changed several times before he finally spoke in a low voice, “Du Fan, don’t be too self-righteous. No one intends to do anything to you. I just couldn’t stand seeing you cheat.”
“Is that so?” Du Fan placed his glass back on the table and slowly walked over to Elvis. “If that’s really the case, how wonderful that would be. Then I could not only release you right away but also wouldn’t have to worry about what you might do to me, right?”
Elvis kept his head down, silent.
Du Fan smiled again. “There’s a lot I want to know, but I know well that people like you must have pride and won’t tell me everything. So, I might have to be harsh next.”
Elvis remained silent.
Du Fan found it amusing. He never expected to experience such a thing in his life. Though he had no experience in interrogation, he wasn’t afraid that Elvis would get away unscathed.
Seeing Elvis’s expression—as if he wouldn’t say anything no matter what happened to him—Du Fan frowned before waving his hand.
Chenchen stepped out from the corner and slowly cleared away the unfinished food.
Perhaps sensing something, Elvis glanced up at Chenchen and was stunned. Looking at her charming face, despite still being a prisoner, Elvis’s expression became extremely vivid.
Du Fan had no doubt that if he weren’t a prisoner now, he wouldn’t know what he might do.
This Chenchen was truly a fairy who bewitched the world.

Only after Chenchen’s figure completely disappeared from the room did Elvis pull back his reluctant gaze. Du Fan stood in front of him, looking at him with a hint of amusement. Suddenly smiling, he said, “If you tell me everything you know, then I’ll let that woman accompany you for the night. How about that?”
Elvis shuddered and looked up at Du Fan with suspicion.
Du Fan, however, still wore a smiling expression. “Well, what’s there to worry about? We’re all men; there are many things we understand without saying. What, if you tell me everything you know, I’ll give you a chance to be with her? That seems like a fair deal, right? And I don’t need to know much—just tell me why Roland Academy resorted to such underhanded tactics this time, okay?”
Elvis was clearly tempted, but he wasn’t stupid enough to think Du Fan would actually do this. He grunted and remained silent.
Du Fan chuckled softly. “It seems the people of Roland Academy are extremely tough. But personally, I don’t have much time to play games with you. I’m sorry, though—I originally planned to take my time with you, but time doesn’t allow it. So you must hold on. If you die right away, it won’t be fun at all.”
With that, Du Fan took out a magic wand phantom from his space ring and waved it in the air for a moment.
Seeing Du Fan’s actions, Elvis couldn’t help but exclaim, “You’re a magician!”
“Seems so,” Du Fan said, touching his nose. “But this is my big secret. If you get the chance, don’t tell anyone else, okay?”
Looking at Du Fan’s innocent smile, Elvis felt a chill. He always thought he was highly talented, but compared to this guy, he seemed like nothing.
According to the information gathered by Roland Academy, this guy had been a complete failure three months ago, but now he mastered both magic and combat. Although his displayed level was only three, given his personality, how could he really be only at level three?
Thinking of this, Elvis felt his loss wasn’t unjust at all.
Seeing Elvis’s ugly expression, Du Fan chuckled lightly, then waved his wand and quickly recited a few spells.

With his movement, a not-too-large tornado enveloped Elvis, spinning continuously. Under normal circumstances, such a minor spell would not be able to cause Elvis even the slightest harm. But now, under the spell’s influence, he struggled in pain. In less than a moment, he was crying out in agony, begging Du Fan to spare his life before quickly revealing everything he knew.

Someone like Elvis, originally from a noble family and having never suffered hardship throughout his life, naturally couldn’t withstand Du Fan’s minor tricks. Moreover, after asking clarifying questions, Du Fan made him repeat everything to confirm its truth.

Yet even Du Fan couldn’t have imagined that such a trivial action he had taken earlier would lead to such consequences.

After thinking over what he had heard several times, Du Fan felt a surge of excitement. At the same time, his gaze at Elvis became even more peculiar.

Elvis had already confessed everything, so he no longer had that haughty demeanor. Seeing Du Fan’s expression, he suddenly cried out in despair, “Du Fan… You promised me that if I told you everything I knew, you would definitely spare me.”

“I did promise,” Du Fan nodded. “And I’m someone who keeps his word. So, I will definitely spare you.”

A hint of relief appeared on Elvis’s face.

“But,” Du Fan changed his tone, “I originally intended to do that too. But your mouth is too unreliable. I believe if I spare you, you’ll soon tell your greedy father, Bruce, all my secrets. Right?”

“No, no,” Elvis shook his head frantically. “How could I do such a thing? As long as Master Du Fan—no, no, Lord Du Fan—spares me, I’ll do anything for you. How could I betray your secrets? Right?”

Elvis’s expression was like that of a well-behaved dog. Under the threat of death, this once noble man had long lost his sense of pride.

“Never mind,” Du Fan smiled faintly and snapped his fingers a few times. His combat energy promptly cut through all the sinew on Elvis’s body. “I’m different from you. I keep my word. Even if you expose my secrets or threaten my safety in the future, I’ll still fulfill my promise. Go now.”
Elvis bowed his head and didn’t dare say anything else. He ran toward the direction where Chenchen had left earlier.
Du Fan watched his figure gradually disappear and couldn’t help but sigh.
Suddenly, a shrill scream came through. Elvis’s figure struggled in the flames and turned into ashes in just a moment. From that point on, every trace of him in this world was completely erased.
Chenchen stepped out of the darkness, her indifferent expression tinged with annoyance. “You already guessed that I would intervene, right?”
“Not exactly,” Du Fan smiled. “I only have one virtue—keeping my word. Since I promised not to kill him, I naturally had to let him go. But if you disliked him and killed him anyway, that’s none of my business. I didn’t give you any orders!”
“You used magic in front of him after he saw me, clearly implying that if he left alive, both of our secrets would be exposed. With such an obvious hint, do you really think I wouldn’t notice?” Chenchen stepped forward two steps. Though annoyed, her expression became even more alluring.
Du Fan glanced at her for a moment before his gaze settled on her full chest. After staring at it shamelessly for a while, he said indifferently, “Women had better not be too smart. In the distant Eastern world, there’s a saying: ‘A woman without talent is virtuous.’ Find some time to ponder that. Enough about this. How likely is what Elvis said earlier?”
Chenchen shook her head. “I don’t know if it’s likely or not, but I think we don’t have time to discuss it now. Your Grandpa Mark is waiting outside. If you don’t go out soon, he might burst in.”
Du Fan was stunned. He quickly touched the crystal ball, and the outside view reappeared. Old Mark was standing in front of his ruined house, looking extremely worried.
What happened? Du Fan frowned and signaled Chenchen with a gesture. After she transformed into a kitten, he stuffed her into his sleeve and rushed outside.
