Chapter 0366: Humanoid Primal Beasts
“What is this?!” When the Yellow Dragon rushed to the source of the sound, he was slightly shocked by what he saw. Yet beneath the shock lay even greater surprise.
Azure-Scaled Cloud Lions! And not just one, but a whole group of them!
With a sweep of his divine sense, he counted sixty-three!
As he had guessed, although Eithel had only seen a dozen or so, this must be the nest of the Azure-Scaled Cloud Lions—there couldn’t be only that many. The group before him was the best proof of that.
But what surprised and delighted the Yellow Dragon even more was that aside from the Azure-Scaled Cloud Lions, there was also a group of Upper God-Grade mutated primal beasts!
That’s right—truly a group of Upper God-Grade mutated primal beasts!
Two-Headed Fiend Tigers!
Though this group of two-headed fiend tigers was smaller, with only a dozen—more precisely, twelve—still, it filled the Yellow Dragon with joy.
Twelve! After all, excluding the ten Upper God-Grade mutated primal beasts he had captured during the trials on the Runing Family’s Trial Island, he had only captured eight in the eight hundred years he spent in the Dragon Mountain Range. Yet here, there were twelve!
A sharp glint flashed in the Yellow Dragon’s eyes.
Although there were only sixty-three Azure-Scaled Cloud Lions here, falling short of the hundred required for the trial, it was somewhat disappointing. But if he could capture these twelve two-headed fiend tigers, the trip would still be worthwhile.
Moreover, there might be more Azure-Scaled Cloud Lions in the vicinity beyond these sixty-three.
However, watching the fierce battle between the Azure-Scaled Cloud Lions and the two-headed fiend tigers, the Yellow Dragon hesitated. If he summoned a million mutated primal beasts, they might be able to handle them individually, but if the Azure-Scaled Cloud Lions and two-headed fiend tigers sensed danger and fought back together, even though the million mutated beasts might have the upper hand, losses would be inevitable. By the time he managed to subdue them, tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands, of mutated beasts might perish—a result the Yellow Dragon did not wish to see.
So, he hid aside, waiting for an opportunity.
Fortunately, though the Azure-Scaled Cloud Lions had the advantage in numbers, the two-headed fiend tigers were still mutated primal beasts. After a fierce battle, the strength difference between the two sides was not significant.
The battle stalled, with neither side able to gain the upper hand.
“Cliff, we found these Nimue Fruits first! How dare you come and steal them?!” Amid the stalemate, a cloud lion slightly larger than the others roared at a two-headed fiend tiger across from it. As it roared, its light blue fur bristled.
“Syl, this Nimen Fruit is what Lord Bradard wants. How dare you guys covet it? If you’re sensible, hand over the Nimen Fruit.” The two-headed demon tiger raised its heads, its aura growing immensely as it stared down its opponent.
Hearing the two-headed demon tiger’s words, the green-scaled cloud lion burst into laughter: “Lord Bradard? That worthless fool imprisoned in the Stone Forest?”
“Dare you, Cliff! How dare you show disrespect to Lord Bradard?! Once he emerges, it will be your death day!” the two-headed demon tiger roared, waves of energy swirling around its body.
“So what if I’m bold? So what if I’m disrespectful? He’ll emerge? Let’s wait and see. But it seems he’s been in there for twenty billion years already. Syl, how can you still be so loyal to him? I advise you to join us and become your own king, live freely, rule your own territory—wouldn’t that be better than now?” The green-scaled cloud lion laughed, trying to persuade him.
“Become my own king?” The two-headed demon tiger sneered. “I think your brothers are already eyeing that throne. You’d better worry about how to deal with them first.”
The green-scaled cloud lion fell silent for a moment, his beast eyes flickering, before snorting coldly, “This is between us brothers. You don’t need to worry about it. Go back and be a slave. We’re not staying!” With that, he turned to the other green-scaled lions and said, “Let’s go!” Then he transformed into a mass of blue clouds and flew away.
The other green-scaled lions watched the two-headed demon tiger warily before following Cliff away. In no time, all the green-scaled lions were gone, leaving only the twelve elite divine mutated two-headed demon tigers standing there.
“Lord Syl, shall we chase after them?” one of the two-headed demon tigers asked cautiously.
Syl stared at the retreating green-scaled lions, his eyes flickering, before saying helplessly, “Let’s go back first.” Then he turned and flew in another direction.
The other two-headed demon tigers hurried after him.
The yellow dragon hid nearby, unexpecting such an outcome.
“Nimen Fruit?” the yellow dragon murmured in confusion.
It had never heard of the Nimen Fruit, nor did it know anything about Lord Bradard. From their conversation, it seemed they were fighting over the Nimen Fruit and had known each other for a long time.
Looking in the direction they left, the yellow dragon hesitated—should it subdue those twelve two-headed demon tigers first or hunt down the green-scaled cloud lion?
Finally, the yellow dragon transformed into a streak of light and rushed toward the two-headed demon tigers. The Green-Scaled Cloud Lions—on one of which the yellow dragon left its mark—meant the dragon didn’t have to worry about losing track of them. It wasn’t long before the yellow dragon caught up to the twelve two-headed demon tigers. Yet, it didn’t act rashly; it wanted to figure out what Brade was all about. Although all twelve two-headed demon tigers were elite divine mutated beasts, they didn’t realize they were being followed. They flew swiftly until they reached a valley after traveling a million li before stopping. Before descending into the valley, the twelve two-headed demon tigers stood at the entrance, standing at attention. Xir stepped forward a few paces and said respectfully, “Lord Brade!” As soon as Xir’s voice faded, a deep hum arose from within the valley. The sound was so low that it caused the air currents outside to stagnate. Seeing this, the yellow dragon narrowed its eyes. “What is this?” Just as the yellow dragon was puzzled, another voice came from the valley, “Xir, where is Nimeng Guo?” Xir tensed up and replied solemnly, “Reporting to Lord Brade, Cliff got there first and stole Nimeng Guo. I am incompetent—please punish me, Lord Brade!” “Cliff?!” A thunderous laugh echoed through the valley, piercing through the clouds high above. The clouds dispersed as the laughter revealed its anger. “Good. After over 20 billion years, not only has Cliff returned, but he’s also grown bolder—daring to steal even what belongs to me, Brade!” The valley reverberated with the sound. The two-headed demon tiger Xir and the others lay on the ground, not daring to respond. “Has Cliff also reached the rank of an elite divine now?” The valley’s voice spoke again after a while. “Yes, Lord Brade. He is now the leader of the Green-Scaled Cloud Lions clan. There are over a hundred elite gods in that clan!” Xir replied respectfully. “I never expected that even the weakest clan of Green-Scaled Cloud Lions I once had would have over a hundred elite gods. Hehe!” The voice in the valley carried mockery. “Friend, you’ve been hiding and listening for so long—maybe it’s time you showed yourself?” Suddenly, a cold snort came from the valley. Hearing this, the yellow dragon frowned—had it been discovered? But as the voice spoke, a fierce energy burst forth, shooting rapidly in another direction outside the valley. Wherever that energy passed, space split open. “So powerful!” The yellow dragon was secretly shocked. The person in the valley was at least an unparalleled warrior, and their strength was on par with Donald of the Luning family! That was the yellow dragon’s initial assessment.
“Hehe, Lord Brade, long time no see! Your strength remains astonishing!” As the energy surged, a figure appeared.
This person had a somewhat strange appearance—his face resembled that of a divine-level warrior, yet it was also different, with a tiger-like nose and several whiskers beside his mouth.
“A humanoid primal beast?!” Huang Long was shocked upon seeing this figure appear.
Primal beasts of the Netherworld were different from the magical beasts of the mortal realm. Magical beasts in the mortal realm could take human form once they reached the divine realm, but primal beasts of the Netherworld could only do so when they became peerlessly powerful. Moreover, the human form they adopted retained some characteristics of their original form, just like certain sea races.
Seeing this figure appear, beasts such as the two-headed demon tiger all retreated in alarm, looking wary.
“Kunnier, what brings you here? To check if I’m dead? Unfortunately, you’ll be disappointed again. Though I can’t leave this stone forest in the valley, I’m not dead yet,” came a deep voice from within the valley.
The middle-aged man who appeared smiled broadly. “Lord Brade, don’t joke. What are you saying? We’ve known each other for over a dozen eras. Can’t I even come to see an old friend? Knowing my old friend is safe puts me at ease.”
“At ease? Then since you’ve seen it now, you can go!” Huang Long’s voice was cold as he bluntly ordered the man to leave.
Kunnier shook his head and smiled. “No rush, no rush.” Then he said, “Don’t you want the Nimeng Fruit?”
“Nimeng Fruit?” Huang Long fell silent for a moment.
“Was it you who ordered Cliff and the others to steal the Nimeng Fruit?” he asked after a while in a deep voice.
The middle-aged man, Kunnier, laughed heartily. “Exactly.”
“Go away. Although the Nimeng Fruit is important to me, Kunnier, do you really think I don’t know your intentions? Even if I’m trapped in this stone forest forever, I won’t give you the treasure map of the Tianxu Temple.” Huang Long’s voice was resolute, leaving no room for negotiation.
“Hehe, is that so? Then I’ll wait. When you change your mind, send someone to inform me.” It seemed Kunnier had anticipated this outcome; he showed no disappointment, only a indifferent smile. After saying that, he vanished from the ground in an instant.
The beasts like the two-headed demon tiger relaxed upon seeing the middle-aged man leave.
“Well, sir, you’ve been watching from the side for so long. Why not come out?” After Kunnier left, Huang Long spoke. Then, a gust of energy swept toward where Huang Long was hiding. Even before the energy reached him, Huang Long felt the space around him tighten, as if it were freezing.
Realizing he couldn’t avoid it, Huang Long had no choice but to reveal himself.
When the Yellow Dragon appeared, gasps of surprise came from within the valley: “You, a mid-tier god?!” He hadn’t expected the one hiding beside KunNeil to be a mid-tier god. If KunNeil hadn’t left just then and he hadn’t decided to explore the surroundings, noticing something unusual, he might not have realized that someone else was hiding there. And this person was just a mid-tier god? KunNeil hadn’t shown any signs of anomaly before; it seems he didn’t notice either?
