Chapter 0003: Super Genius
Huang Mei followed Huang Long as they headed toward the hall. Seeing the second young master, her expression became complex.
This second young master had always preferred to sit alone in silence since childhood, with an odd sitting posture. Unlike other children, he never liked to play around. He spoke little, but some of his actions seemed strange or even astonishing.
Before the age of three, he had never spoken a word. At first, everyone in the Huang family sighed, thinking he was born mute.
Sometimes he would run wildly in the courtyard for hours without getting flushed or out of breath. His speech sometimes sounded mature and authoritative, as if he were an adult.
Yet, this second young master was very intelligent, knowing everything—astronomy, geography, music, chess, calligraphy, and painting. It seemed he was born with these skills, and even the wife, known as a talented woman of the kingdom, couldn’t teach him anything.
Over the years, in their free time, all the servants and household members in the Huang family would whisper about this six-year-old second young master. Lately, he had seemed even more strange in everyone’s eyes, surrounded by an increasingly mysterious aura.
“I wonder what his talent will be like in this test—whether he can become a mage or a warrior?” Huang Mei thought to herself.
She still remembered how happy the patriarch and the wife had been twelve years ago when they learned that the eldest son, Huang Wei, had top-tier warrior talent. Now, Huang Wei was studying at Baru Academy. At eighteen, he was already a level six warrior.
Baru Academy was one of the two major academies in the Hengyuan Continent. It could be said that nearly 90% of the continent’s warrior geniuses gathered there. Any student who graduated from Baru Academy would be sought after by various countries on the Hengyuan Continent and granted noble titles.
The eldest son, Huang Wei, had always been the pride of the patriarch and the wife.
Lost in thought, Huang Mei didn’t notice Huang Long stop. She bumped into him again, this time hitting the back of his head. With a soft cry, she realized they had reached outside the hall.
Panicked, she lowered her head, her face red, too afraid to look at Huang Long. She breathed a sigh of relief only when he entered the hall without reproaching her and quickly followed.
When Huang Long entered the hall, he was surprised to find it filled with dozens of people. Aside from his parents and the deacon invited to conduct the test, almost all of the Huang family’s direct members were there.
If Huang Long had been just an ordinary direct member of the family, there wouldn’t have been such a grand assembly. But since Huang Long’s father, Huang Xiong, was the head of the family, his talent test as the second young master naturally warranted special attention.
“Father, Mother.” After scanning the hall, Huang Long stepped forward to Huang Xiong and Zhao Rong. Although he had been in this world for six years and had gotten used to his current identity, calling them father and mother still felt awkward to him.
“Long, come here. This is Lord Rufat from the Church. Go and pay him your respects,” said Huang Xiong.
Following Huang Xiong’s gaze, Huang Long saw a middle-aged man in a light blue robe sitting beside Huang Xiong, looking arrogant. Huang Long frowned. Even if this man were the so-called Church deacon, or even the Pope himself, he would never bow to him.
In Huang Long’s eyes, the so-called super holy realm warriors of this world, or even the legendary divine realm warriors, were nothing but ants. In the Pangu world, even an immortal at the celestial realm level could easily crush them.
After waiting for a while, seeing that his son still stood there, staring indifferently at Rufat without any intention of approaching, Huang Xiong felt embarrassed.
He knew well about his second son’s personality—there was nothing his father could do to change something he didn’t want to do.
In the hall, many of the Huang family’s direct members also showed amused expressions, clearly enjoying the spectacle.
Huang Xiong and Zhao Rong both looked embarrassed and could only smile at Rufat and explain, “Brother Rufat, my son is still young and naive. He’s always been like this. Please forgive him.”
Rufat’s expression darkened. As a Church deacon in charge of the Church affairs in the royal city of the Lutong Kingdom, he held a high status. Even the royal family of Lutong treated him with great respect, and he was always flattered wherever he went. He had come at Huang Xiong’s kind invitation, only to be treated like this by a brat.
With cold eyes, Rufat glanced at Huang Long and said sarcastically, “What a fine son the head of the Huang family has raised.”
Huang Xiong was speechless for a moment, but Zhao Rong smiled and said, “Deacon Rufat, how about we start the talent test now?” After a pause, Rufat finally nodded and said solemnly, “Alright.”
After all, the Huang family was one of the four major families in the Lutong Kingdom, so he couldn’t openly show anger now.
Rufat stood up along with the others, went in front of Huang Long, and took out a crystal ball about the size of two fists. He said coldly to Huang Long, “Kid, put your hands on it.”
For a magician, the most important things were mental strength and affinity for the elements in the world. Now, they were going to test Huang Long’s affinity for those elements.
Huang Long said nothing and placed his hands on the crystal ball as instructed.
Suddenly, the crystal sphere seemed to boil, and with a “hum” sound, it emitted a dazzling light as bright as the sun, instantly filling the entire hall. Huang Xiong, Zhao Rong, and everyone else in the hall were stunned by what they saw. Lufat stood there, trembling, his hands shaking as he watched the colorful chaos inside the crystal sphere, stammering, “Element affinity: super-grade for fire, super-grade for water, super-grade for earth… super-grade for lightning!” Super-grade, super-grade! All super-grade! With each word, Lufat and the others felt as if a heavy blow had struck their hearts. By the end, Lufat was completely stunned, his mind blank. In the hall, whether it was Huang Xiong, Zhao Rong, or other direct members of the Huang family, everyone gasped in shock. Outcries of amazement rose one after another. Element affinity—super-grade in all elements! On the Continent of Eternal Elements, ordinary magicians had medium-level element affinity; those with high-level affinity were rare, one in a hundred, while super-grade affinity was even rarer, with perhaps one in ten thousand magicians possessing it. Those with affinity in two or more elements were even fewer. A genius? No, a super-genius—or perhaps “monstrous” would be a better description for Huang Long. Zhao Rong felt her heart pounding rapidly, her head spinning, and she said in a trembling voice, “Brother Xiong, is this… all real?” Despite seeing it with her own eyes, she still couldn’t believe her son was such a “monster” with super-grade affinity in all elements. Huang Xiong supported his wife, took a deep breath, and nodded firmly. He wanted to cry. It was all real! After a long while, the hall calmed down, with only the dazzling crystal sphere still shining brightly. Everyone’s expressions were varied, and they all looked at the small figure standing in front of the sphere with complex thoughts. Lufat suppressed his excitement and, when he looked at Huang Long again, his previous indifference was gone, replaced by fanaticism, as if he had discovered a vast treasure. His eyes glowed green. “Kid, please come over and stand in the magic circle,” Lufat said in as gentle a voice as possible, his attitude completely changed as he spoke to Huang Long with “respect,” gesturing for him to come over. Now that the element affinity test was done, the next step was the most important—testing mental strength.
