Chapter 14: Spatial Defense
Yan Wubian saw a hundred adventure groups surrounding and charging at him, but he wasn’t panicked at all. Instead, he immediately took out ten spirit talismans.
These were the spirit talismans Yan Wubian always carried with him for self-protection, and he used them now. If he hadn’t done so, the ninety-nine members under his leadership would have been left to be slaughtered by those hundred adventure group members.
“Oh no!”
Jun Buyun, Tan Mo, and Zhuo Lengyun noticed the spirit talismans in Yan Wubian’s hands. The energy fluctuations from them reached the level of a six-star Earth Soul Demon.
Yet, before the three group leaders, who were only at the lower level of Earth Soul Demons, could even shout, Yan Wubian had already thrown the ten spirit talismans.
Ten talismans, in ten directions.
As soon as the talismans flew into the air, they unleashed waves of Earth Energy attacks. The primal Earth Energy transformed into countless earth thorns that rained down from the sky like a storm of thorns.
Ten talismans, in ten directions, simultaneously sent out ten such storms of thorns.
These thorns struck the ground instantly, moving at speeds akin to Earth Transformation, leaving the flying adventurers no time to react.
“Ah…”
Painful screams immediately filled the space, drowning out the continuous eerie sounds.
Just with ten spirit talismans, more than half of the adventurers from the hundred groups were killed, and the rest were also severely injured.
Of course, the survivors were all highly skilled, most of them at the four-star Earth Soul Demon level. There were still two hundred of them left.
The remaining adventurers retreated in fear, still forming a circle around Yan Wubian, staring at him angrily.
Jun Buyun, Tan Mo, and Zhuo Lengyun felt their faces burning with discomfort, their eyes filled with hatred.
Yan Wubian smiled at everyone and said lightly, “You people are truly foolish. I, Yan Wubian, have experienced countless adventures throughout my life and always managed to survive. How could I possibly go without some means of self-protection? Since you’ve already accepted this adventure task, come on then. I still have many more Earth Thorn Talismans left.”
Hiss!
Upon hearing these words, the remaining two hundred adventurers took a deep breath in shock. None of them could match Yan Wubian, and attacking him would only result in attacks from the spirit talismans, causing inevitable harm.
The situation reached a stalemate.
Yan Wubian didn’t launch an attack either. All he needed to do now was protect his ninety-nine members, allowing them to take advantage of this opportunity for enlightenment and improve their skills.
Jun Buyun, Tan Mo, and Zhuo Lengyun all noticed the situation of the other members of the Ren Wo Xiao Thief Gang. They found that despite the intense energy fluctuations just now, none of them had regained consciousness, which meant they were still in the midst of cultivation, during a crucial breakthrough period.
At the same time, Jun Buyun, Tan Mo, and Zhuo Lengyun also noticed Hong Zhong Shi and realized its connection to You Yin, thus understanding that the members of the Ren Wo Xiao Thief Gang were using Hong Zhong Shi for cultivation.
“If all ninety-nine of them wake up, it will be extremely difficult for us to eliminate the Ren Wo Xiao Thief Gang,” all three thought.
Immediately, Jun Buyun, Tan Mo, and Zhuo Lengyun exchanged glances and quickly communicated through their demonic consciousness.
“All adventurers, this is our best chance to eliminate the Ren Wo Xiao Thief Gang. Right now, the other members are all cultivating, with only Ya Wu Bian guarding them. I, Jun Buyun, along with Team Leaders Tan Mo and Zhuo Lengyun, will hold Ya Wu Bian at bay while you all go and attack those ninety-nine people.”
Suddenly, Jun Buyun shouted sharply.
The previous attempt to attack had been repelled by Ya Wu Bian precisely because the various adventure groups did not act together and had their own reservations, allowing Ya Wu Bian to exploit their weaknesses. He used spiritual talismans to drive them back and seriously injure each group.
After shouting, Jun Buyun, Tan Mo, and Zhuo Lengyun each drew their magical swords and launched a wave of demonic energy. Jun Buyun sent wood-type demonic energy, Tan Mo sent earth-type demonic energy, and Zhuo Lengyun sent water-type demonic energy. These formed spherical shapes, each containing its own separate space. Though invisible, everyone could sense three spaces into which their demonic consciousness could not penetrate.
By now, these three dimensional spaces had grown larger and enveloped Ya Wu Bian.
Seeing that the three of them were indeed going to hold Ya Wu Bian back, the other adventurers immediately responded, fiercely charging at the ninety-nine people sitting on the ground.
A cold glint flashed in Ya Wu Bian’s eyes. He stomped his right foot violently, sending out a wave of earth-type demonic energy that instantly contracted the stone platforms where the ninety-nine members were located, bringing them all close to him.
At the same time, Ya Wu Bian drew a crystal-yellow long sword and swung it in the air, releasing a wave-shaped burst of earth-type demonic energy. Within that energy, a wave-like space formed, directly confronting the three incoming dimensional spaces.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The space spells cast by Jun Buyun, Tan Mo, and Zhuo Lengyun were successively countered by Ya Wubian’s space spells. At the center of the collision of these three spaces, energy exploded, spreading far and wide, even throwing those 200 adventurers far away. In this round of attacks, Ya Wubian single-handedly faced off against another 200 adventurers. “Hmph, you guys are still too weak,” Ya Wubian sneered. Jun Buyun, Tan Mo, and Zhuo Lengyun’s faces burned with anger as they felt immense frustration. “All adventurers, attack together again! No matter how strong Ya Wubian is, he can’t keep resisting like this forever!” Jun Buyun shouted fiercely once more. Immediately, the three of them used their magic weapons to cast more space spells at Ya Wubian. The other 200 adventurers also rallied their strength, casting spells in unison to assist their three leaders in attacking Ya Wubian. All their attacks were aimed at Ya Wubian at the same time! Ya Wubian narrowed his eyes and quickly drew his long sword, pointing it upward. A swirling mass of yellow Earth Magic Essence surged forth, spreading out to form a hemispherical shape—a separate dimension that protected Ya Wubian and his 99 companions. At this point, Ya Wubian could only resort to defensive spells. One after another, the spells struck the spot where he had stood earlier. Boom… Countless explosions of various colored energies swiftly destroyed the rocky forest. Yet, none of the members of the Renwo Daozhe Gang appeared, indicating that none of the attacks had broken through the dimension created by Ya Wubian. By now, Ya Wubian had used his space magic to descend to the lower layers. Soon, he reappeared. “You bastards, just wait for my revenge,” Ya Wubian said after emerging, glancing at his companions before shouting up. Naturally, the over 200 adventurers realized that Ya Wubian had gone downstairs. “All adventurers, let’s attack Ya Wubian again!” Jun Buyun shouted loudly once more. Now that hostilities had begun, if Ya Wubian wasn’t killed, everyone would face his revenge—this was clear to all the survivors there.
Sure enough, at that cry, all the adventurers took off together once more and reached the lower layers. Various spells were launched at Ya Wu Bian simultaneously, especially the spatial attacks from the three lower-level Earth Soul Demons—Jun Buyun, Tan Mo, and Zhuo Lengyun.
Ya Wu Bian sneered again and quickly raised his sword, creating another dimension to protect himself and his teammates.
Boom…
Another intense explosion occurred, but it still failed to break through Ya Wu Bian’s dimensional barrier.
The faces of all 200 adventurers showed fear. They had a sense that continuing to attack would not defeat Ya Wu Bian. Yet, they also knew that if they stopped attacking, Ya Wu Bian would surely retaliate in the future.
The attacks had to continue.
“All adventurers, keep attacking,” Jun Buyun ordered coldly.
Everyone picked up their magical weapons, aimed them at Ya Wu Bian, and unleashed powerful spells.
It was another wave of collective attacks.
Ya Wu Bian, expressionless, skillfully raised his long sword and created another dimension to protect himself and his teammates.
Boom…
An even more violent explosion occurred, sinking the ground by a thousand meters, but it still failed to break through Ya Wu Bian’s dimensional barrier, let alone harm him.
As the 200 adventurers used their magical senses to search beneath the sunken pit, a fierce killing intent suddenly came from the bottom of the pit.
“Leader, thank you!”
“Leader, you’ve been attacked by these bastards. We’ll avenge you.”
“Leader, let us take care of the rest of the battle.”
…
The 99 members of the Renwo Xiaodie Gang suddenly woke up all at once. Their magical energy fluctuations seemed even stronger—more than twenty of them had reached the first level of cultivation, while the rest had also improved their strength.
Among the 99 members, 10 had the cultivation level of Six-Star Earth Soul Demons, 20 had Five-Star Earth Soul Demons, 40 had Four-Star Earth Soul Demons, and the rest were below Three-Star Earth Soul Demons—totaling around 30.
This was an extremely powerful force.
Just as the sounds ceased, over 90 fierce figures rushed up from the bottom of the pit, their faces grim and eyes blood-red, flying toward the 200 adventurers on the ground.
“Oh, those 99 members have regained consciousness,” the adventurers cried in horror.
Immediately, some of them decided to flee without hesitation.
Even Jun Buneun, Tan Mo, and Zhuo Lengyun, who were lower-ranked Earth Soul Demons, didn’t want to hunt these party members, fearing they might be held back and killed by Ya Wu Bian here. With morale collapsing, the two hundred adventurers immediately fled in all directions. But how could the Ren Wo Xiao Thieves Guild just let these adventurers go?
