Chapter Eleven: The Six Aspects of the Spiritual Consciousness
Qu Yi, Bai Man, Qing Wu Gui, and Wu Yuan acted together, killing three people in one go.
All three practiced body-refining cultivation methods, with vital energy spread throughout their bodies; they didn’t possess Yuan Ying, so naturally Qu Yi didn’t obtain any of their Yuan Ying either.
However, Qu Yi did get the Bone Devouring Staff from that middle-aged man.
“Not bad. I heard that these demon cultivators in the South Demon Continent aren’t very good at crafting magical artifacts. But this bone staff is quite fine. When activated with vital energy, it generates a hundred bones—quite powerful,” Qu Yi said, holding the Bone Devouring Staff with a smile.
Qing Wu Gui smiled faintly, raised the black sword in his hand, and immediately stored it inside his body.
Bai Man simply watched the Bone Devouring Staff with a smile but didn’t want to touch it. She definitely wouldn’t want such an unattractive magical artifact. As for Wu Yuan, it didn’t need any magical artifacts at all; it always attacked enemies by shaking its dragon head to summon golden swords.
Qu Yi had no choice but to store the Bone Devouring Staff in his storage bracelet. Then he spread his spiritual consciousness to search the surroundings, and relieved to find no one else nearby.
Having encountered a major enemy right after arriving in the Hundred Demons Mountain Region, Qu Yi certainly didn’t want such trouble.
“Qu Yi, where should we go now?” Bai Man asked with a smile.
Qing Wu Gui and Wu Yuan also immediately turned to look at Qu Yi.
“That Wei Yan—no idea where he’s gone. How about we head to the central part of the Hundred Demons Mountain Region first to find out anything about Wei Yan? I believe that as a demon cultivator, if he’s come to this region, he must have done something. We just need to keep an eye on news from various places,” Qu Yi said with a smile.
Qing Wu Gui, Bai Man, and Wu Yuan said nothing more, knowing this was the most effective approach. It would allow them to learn about the various forces in the Hundred Demons Mountain Region as well as track Wei Yan’s whereabouts.
Soon, Qu Yi, Bai Man, and Wu Yuan entered the Miniature Realm Sphere together, while Qing Wu Gui continued flying alone.
……
Inside the Miniature Realm Sphere, Qu Yi sat alone by a lake.
Since breaking through to the early stage of Yuan Ying, the space Qu Yi had inside the Miniature Realm Sphere had expanded tenfold. The original lawn had even extended to the shore of a lake, and now Qu Yi was sitting by the shore.
At that moment, the infant form of the Artifact God came to Qu Yi’s side.
“Artifact God, my spiritual core has now solidified,” Qu Yi said suddenly.
It turned out that after Qu Yi broke through on Wuyi Mountain, the six human souls in his yuan shen became somewhat confused and began to transform again, but now they had finally stabilized. Qu Yi’s yuan shen, with its five small heads, could now turn left and right, showing great vitality.
“Very good. According to the records in ‘Five Qi and Three Flowers,’ your yuan shen should now be able to divide its spiritual awareness into six parts, allowing it to perform six actions simultaneously. Go ahead and practice diligently,” said the Instrument God with a laugh.
Qu Yi had already known this—his yuan shen had six heads, and if he practiced to a certain level, he could split them into six separate yuan shens.
“Then I’ll give it a try,” Qu Yi said with a smile.
Immediately, Qu Yi began meditating, focusing his mind inward to manifest his entire yuan shen.
“Gather the spirit of the yuan shen; divide the spiritual awareness into six,” flashed through his mind.
The six heads of his yuan shen turned in different directions, each seemingly emitting a stream of spiritual awareness.
…
While Qing Wu Gui was on his way and Qu Yi was practicing the technique of dividing his spiritual awareness into six parts, the Xuan Yang Hall of the Black Bone Sect was filled with a solemn atmosphere.
The head of the Xuan Yang Hall was none other than the Supreme Black Bone Master. He had chased Qu Yi on Cui Mu Star but hadn’t even seen him, wasting two years in vain. Now, he had finally returned to the Black Bone Sect.
Not long after returning, the Supreme Black Bone Master heard from his subordinate Jia Ping that his nephew Tie Gu hadn’t returned to the hall for ten days, and Tie Gu’s two subordinates had also disappeared.
The Supreme Black Bone Master then asked Jia Ping carefully, “Jia Ping, describe what happened when Tie Gu last left Jiu Gu Peak.”
Twenty years ago, the Supreme Black Bone Master’s elder brother was killed in the Hundred Demons Mountain Range, leaving behind a nephew—Tie Gu. Usually, the Supreme Black Bone Master doted on Tie Gu greatly, giving him powerful magical artifacts and helping him with whatever he needed. Now, hearing that Tie Gu, who was like his own son, had disappeared, he had a gut feeling that Tie Gu was likely dead, and he wanted to find the real culprit.
“I went to Jiu Gu Peak. The elder stationed there said that Tie Gu followed a young demon cultivator and hasn’t returned yet. However, a portrait of that demon cultivator has been drawn,” Jia Ping said calmly, handing over a drawing to the Supreme Black Bone Master.
The Supreme Black Bone Master immediately took the drawing and studied it carefully.
If Qing Wu Gui were here, he would surely think that the person in the drawing was him.
“That person, right? Good. Since he was transported to Jiugu Peak, he must be heading to the Baimo Mountain Area. Jia Ping, take two people and go to the Baimo Mountain Area to find him,” said Xuan Gu Shangren coldly.
Jia Ping, who already had the cultivation level of the late Yuan Ying stage, definitely had enough strength to go to the Baimo Mountain Area, and Xuan Gu Shangren was very confident in this.
“Yes, Hall Master,” Jia Ping replied calmly, with a slight twitch at the corners of his mouth.
…
A month passed.
Inside the Cunjie Ball, Qu Yi sat in meditation by the lake for a month, constantly practicing the Six Divisions of the Yuan Shen.
“Vessel God, I’ve succeeded!” Qu Yi suddenly opened his eyes and shouted with joy.
Undoubtedly, this shout alarmed Bai Man and Wu Yuan. They also knew what Qu Yi had been practicing throughout the month and came over to congratulate him immediately. Vessel God, too, appeared in an infant form as soon as the words were spoken and staggered toward Qu Yi.
“Qu Yi, have you mastered the Six Divisions of Spiritual Awareness?” Bai Man exclaimed excitedly.
Nodding, Qu Yi then demonstrated it.
He lay down, moving his hands and feet simultaneously, but their movements were completely inconsistent, as if he were waving in four different directions. Meanwhile, his head kept shaking as he kept talking, “Senior sister, am I amazing? Am I strong? What do you think?”
Hands, feet, head, and mouth—exactly six senses in use at once.
Hearing Qu Yi’s shouts, Bai Man laughed loudly, “It’s so great!”
Of course, at that moment, Bai Man found Qu Yi’s strange behavior amusing and found it delightful.
However, when the two of them’s conversation reached Vessel God and Wu Yuan’s ears, it sounded somewhat inappropriate, as if it were some intimate talk between a couple in bed.
Vessel God grunted twice and then said, “Qu Yi, enough. Stop flailing around like a turtle. Congratulations, you’ve mastered the Six Divisions of Spiritual Awareness.”
Qu Yi immediately jumped up, came in front of Vessel God, and laughed loudly, “Vessel God, with this, I can finish scanning the formation you taught me decades ahead of schedule.”
In fact, Qu Yi’s main goal in practicing the Six Divisions of Spiritual Awareness was to learn Vessel God’s formation. This brought him two major benefits: first, mastering basic formations, and second, improving his soul realm.
Formations, in essence, are also a form of understanding energy, a concrete manifestation of energy. Naturally, mastering formations meant the soul understood energy, thus allowing the soul realm to be elevated.
Back then, the basic formation that the Artifact God taught Qu Yi would take about a hundred years to scan completely. Now, with the scanning speed increased sixfold, it is estimated to take only fifteen years. Fifteen years is but a fleeting moment for those who practice cultivation. Seeing Qu Yi’s excitement, the Artifact God immediately said, “Qu Yi, those who practice cultivation must remain calm. Seeing you so happy, I’ll test you then. After scanning the basic formation, you still need to learn various advanced formations. Don’t think that mastering formations is easy. One can spend a lifetime studying them—formations are endless.” Qu Yi immediately lowered his head. Though it was true, it was disheartening. “You little brat always like to hurt others. Can’t you give some encouragement?” Bai Man, unable to stand by, glared at the Artifact God angrily. Fearing that Bai Man might hug him, the Artifact God quickly said with a smile, “Qu Yi, don’t worry. With me here, your path in mastering formations will be much smoother. What others take hundreds of millions of years to learn, you might achieve in just one day of studying formations.” Qu Yi forced a smile, thinking to himself that the Artifact God was boasting again—how could anyone who practices cultivation have a lifespan of hundreds of millions of years? Seeing Qu Yi’s expression, the Artifact God knew what he was thinking but didn’t explain. Instead, he continued smiling and said, “Alright, Qu Yi, you’ve now reached the sixth level of spiritual awareness. You can also gradually get more proficient with your true fire. Before long, I’ll teach you the art of crafting artifacts.” Only then did Qu Yi show a genuine smile and exclaim, “Artifact God, you’re truly amazing!” The Artifact God’s most powerful skill was the art of crafting artifacts, something Qu Yi had long awaited. Hearing it from the Artifact God himself, how could he not be happy? After hearing this, Bai Man immediately shouted, “Qu Yi, you must craft a powerful magic weapon for me in the future.” Qu Yi nodded right away and declared with a fist raised, “Sister, don’t worry. If I can’t craft a powerful magic weapon, I’ll give myself to you.” Bai Man blushed and hurried away. … Qing Wu Gui had been traveling through the air all along, passing by many mountains and sensing numerous battles, but he didn’t intervene and kept heading toward the center of the Hundred Demons Mountain Range. Now, Qing Wu Gui had arrived in Zhongyang City, the heart of the Hundred Demons Mountain Range. Although the entire range was inhabited by demons, there were ten cities there, and Zhongyang City was the most central one. Qing Wu Gui landed on a mountain outside Zhongyang City and stood still. After a while, Qu Yi jumped out. “We’re here,” Qing Wu Gui said with a faint smile.
“You’ve worked hard,” Qu Yi said with a smile.
After that, Qu Yi and Qing Wugui flew along the mountain top all the way to the east gate of Zhongyang City.
