Chapter 345: Aura
“A Rule Seed?”
When Shui Miao saw that black seed, her eyes lit up slightly. That black seed was Mingye’s origin—his Rule Seed.
At a cultivation level like Mingye’s, his divine essence had completely transformed into a Rule Seed. In essence, a Rule Seed was equivalent to a Divine Lord’s divine essence.
Now, Mingye had abandoned his own divine essence and implanted it within Xi Xi, who was in a daze, living only to eat.
With such keen insight, Mingye could easily see Xi Xi’s extraordinary nature. Implanting this seed, containing supreme rules, within her body was not a disservice.
Mingye’s lifespan was running out, and the Rule Seed would dissipate with his death. Though a Rule Seed was more advanced than a divine essence, if its original owner died, the seed would vanish as well, returning to the infinite rules that governed the universe.
Therefore, before dying, Mingye wanted to transfer his Night Rule Seed to someone else. That’s why he left his Soul Jade Slip with Xueye Canhua.
He had considered leaving his Rule Seed to his descendants, but none of them met his standards. Moreover, his lifespan was too short to wait any longer.
So, when Chen Xiao obtained Mingye’s Soul Jade Slip and came here, it was part of Mingye’s test. Those who could overcome numerous obstacles and reach him were qualified to become his successor; otherwise, they would perish.
Over the years, Xueye Canhua and the founders of the other Three Nights Families had searched relentlessly in the World of Superpowers and even on the Continent of Origins for talented individuals, taking Mingye’s Soul Jade Slip to explore the depths of that world in search of him. This included some promising young people from the Four Nights Families.
Yet, without exception, all of them died along the way. Over all these years, only Chen Xiao had reached here and seen Mingye.
To Mingye’s surprise, Chen Xiao had already grasped a rule that no one else had ever understood—the Rule of Life and Death.
Even in terms of hierarchy, the Rule of Life and Death was more profound than the rules Mingye had understood. Everything has life and death; even rules and laws come into being and cease to exist. The Rule of Life and Death was the source that governed all of this.
Although Chen Xiao’s understanding of the Rule of Life and Death was still very weak and might not even develop into a true rule, it was still a glimmer of hope. Even if the chance was one in a billion, Mingye wasn’t willing to give it up.
It was his last hope. If Chen Xiao could truly master the Rule of Life and Death and turn it into a Rule Seed, then Mingye might have a chance to be reborn. Even though Chen Xiao and Mingye had no prior connection, Shui Miao wouldn’t stand by idly.
Shui Miao’s role had already become that of Chen Xiao’s mentor and friend.
So, Mingye made a prompt decision—implanting his Rule Seed within Xi Xi’s body. He had already recognized the extraordinariness of her race.
And Xixi, that little scatterbrain, still knows nothing yet. That rule seed circled inside Xixi’s body before taking root deep in his soul, without him even realizing it. Until that rule seed grows or Xixi’s soul truly matures, it cannot offer him any help. The moment the rule seed leaves his body, the godly realm, once shrouded in darkness, is instantly filled with light, and all the endless darkness vanishes. It seems as though the entire night has withdrawn from the godly realm. Mingye seems to have aged greatly in an instant. He looks at Shui Miao weakly, smiles bitterly, and says, “I originally wanted to find someone to inherit my rules of darkness, but I never expected it to bring me hope of rebirth.” Shui Miao and Chen Xiao certainly understand what Mingye is saying. If Chen Xiao’s rules of life and death grow strong, then the rules of all things will be under his control. Even if the soul of a once-existent being is destroyed, he can revive it in an instant. Shui Miao remains silent, just looking at Chen Xiao, hesitating to speak. Seeing Shui Miao’s expression, Chen Xiao nods and says, “Don’t worry, senior. If I can do it, I will surely help you achieve rebirth.” Mingye nods and then says, “In that case, thank you.” Soon after, Mingye’s figure slowly fades away, leaving only a faint light that flies into the soul jade slip in Chen Xiao’s hand. Chen Xiao turns around and hands the jade slip to Shui Miao, saying, “It’s clear that Senior Mingye doesn’t trust me very much. You should keep this.” Shui Miao takes the soul jade slip and nods, saying, “Next, you’ll enter that Heavenly Realm. The restraining power there is even stronger than that of the godly realm. Moreover, the beings there are more powerful than those in the divine and nether realms. True Spirit Gods are known as divine kings in the universe, but there, they’re only considered mid-to-high tier. There are also many beings who surpass the Supreme Gods.” “Beings who surpass the Supreme Gods?” Chen Xiao is stunned and then asks, “Divine Lords?” Shui Miao shakes her head. “Divine Lords become such because they have understood the rules, mastered a certain set of rules, and stand above all beings. In the Heavenly Realm, there are only a few Divine Lords, but below them, there are still many beings who surpass the Supreme Gods. You must be extremely careful when entering there.” As she speaks, Shui Miao’s figure gradually fades away, absorbed back by the power of the Supreme God’s space. Chen Xiao grabs Xixi and places her on his shoulder, looking toward the light source. It seems like a distant lighthouse, emitting a faint glow—the only light unaffected by the darkness just now. The celestial map in Chen Xiao’s hand is almost breaking free from his grasp, flying toward that lighthouse. Chen Xiao takes a deep breath, steps forward, and moves toward the lighthouse. “Hm?” Suddenly, Chen Xiao frowns slightly. He realizes that the closer he gets to the lighthouse, not only does the celestial map react, but even the Water-Fire Origin Map in his dantian begins to tremble slightly.
“Could it be that if a Primordial Spirit Flame were used to light this lighthouse, it wouldn’t be able to guide the celestial beings back to the universe?”
Chen Xiao’s heart stirred inexplicably as he thought of such a possibility.
However, when he raised his head and glanced at the towering, magnificent lighthouse that reached into the heavens, he took a slight breath. He had already realized that even if he poured in all the elemental flames from his dantian, as well as the remaining Primordial Spirit Flames from his Main God Space, it would still not be enough to restore light to this lighthouse.
Chen Xiao gave the lighthouse just a brief glance before ignoring it further. At that moment, the celestial map in his hands emitted a faint glow, and the four great celestial shadows—Zi Zao, Luan Hui, You Ming—almost flew out of it. If not for the strong restraining force within the map, Chen Xiao wouldn’t have known what to do.
“The path to the heavens must be nearby, but how can I find it?”
Chen Xiao merged his consciousness with the celestial map, slowly sensing its changes. He noticed that the strange emotions within the map gradually stabilized. Only the four great celestial shadows were still restless.
“Could the path be inside the lighthouse?”
Chen Xiao searched the area several times but found nothing unusual, so he turned his attention back to the magnificent lighthouse before him. The lighthouse seemed to be sealed by some force, surrounded by a massive energy field. Every time he tried to approach it, he was repelled by that field.
“Heavenly Dragon Antlers!”
Suddenly, two enormous dragon antlers appeared above Chen Xiao’s head, glowing with a pale blue light. The power of Zi Zao immediately rushed toward that energy field.
Boom!
Suddenly, a powerful counterforce erupted from the energy field, sending Chen Xiao flying backward.
“Damn it, this isn’t a seal.”
Chen Xiao forced himself to stabilize his body, frowning deeply as he stared at the lighthouse. The energy field around it wasn’t the seal he had imagined.
“What exactly is this energy field that appeared out of nowhere?”
Chen Xiao’s eyes sparkled as the Two Principles Diagram began to spin rapidly, analyzing various possibilities. This energy field definitely didn’t originate from the lighthouse; otherwise, it wouldn’t resist the power of Zi Zao. In fact, Chen Xiao could sense that the energy field was specifically designed to counteract the power of Zi Zao.
Earlier, when Chen Xiao had reined in all his powers, there hadn’t been such a strong counterforce—only a slight repulsion.
“This must be an energy field set up by some ancient relic from the divine realm.”
All the powers belonging to the celestial beings disappeared from Chen Xiao’s body, replaced by intense Two Principles energy. Gradually, his body turned black and white.
Chen Xiao slowly reached out toward that energy field.
“This thing can even resist the power of the Two Principles.”
Chen Xiao took a deep breath. This time, although the energy field did not generate as strong a counterforce as before, it still prevented Chen Xiao from advancing.
“Hm?”
Suddenly, Chen Xiao’s expression froze. Xi Xi, who had been perched on his shoulder, looking around curiously, leaped forward and passed through the invisible energy field, arriving beneath the lighthouse to observe with interest.
“Chen Xiao, what are you doing?”
Xi Xi turned her head and looked at Chen Xiao curiously, not quite understanding what he was doing.
“How… how did you get through?”
Chen Xiao widened his eyes, staring at Xi Xi in disbelief.
