Chapter 232: A Cat
Use Atlanteans as fish soup?
Hearing this voice, Chen Xiao’s expression froze slightly. He stared in disbelief at the gloomy-looking Sea King and that virtual god.
In the main hall, some cultivators of the domain realm already showed signs of fear on their faces.
“Ugh…” Suddenly, that voice let out a pained cry. It cursed, “Damn it! Why hasn’t this cursed seal disappeared yet? It hurts so much!”
Immediately afterward, the entire space where Atlantis lay began to shake violently. Then, loud thudding sounds came from somewhere, as if something was constantly hitting a wall.
“Fish soup, huh? You’ll enjoy yourselves for a few more days. Grandpa will break free soon, and then I’ll turn all of you little fish into fish soup!”
That voice roared angrily before vanishing into nothingness.
“Hm, what was that?” Chen Xiao blinked, asking in disbelief.
Turn all Atlanteans into fish soup? That joke was pretty grim.
“A calamity…” The virtual god of the sea sighed, his handsome face filled with worry.
“Long ago, the Sea God, along with 107 other Beast Gods, sealed away a terrifying demon in this space. In fact, we Atlanteans are the descendants left behind by the Sea God to guard this seal.”
The virtual god of the sea sighed again and said, “The space where Atlantis exists is also the sealing space for that demon.”
Chen Xiao rolled his eyes. He knew very well what kind of power those 108 Beast Gods possessed—they were all Spirit Gods of the second level of the Primordial Spirit, with extremely terrifying strength. If 108 such Spirit Gods had to work together to seal it, then the being beneath that seal must be even more terrifying.
“But now, with the discovery of the Heavenly Dragon Treasures, the impact has been so great that it’s even shaking this seal to the point of dissolution. That peerless demon beneath it is likely to break free soon,” the virtual god of the sea said with a sigh. “If you can find a way to seal that demon, then my entire Atlantis clan will pledge allegiance to you.”
His gaze shifted to Gui Gui and Mu Mu behind Chen Xiao. Their strength was completely exposed here—they were peak-level virtual gods, and both carried the pressure of divine artifacts, giving him a glimmer of hope.
“No wonder you Atlanteans didn’t go to fawn over those treasures when they were unearthed.”
Chen Xiao narrowed his eyes slightly before saying, “If that’s the case, then take me to see if I can examine that seal.”
The virtual god glanced at the Sea King, who nodded. He stretched out his hand, and a blue mirror appeared in it.
This mirror was also a divine artifact, but it was created by a true god and was even inferior to Chen Xiao’s Snowflakes.
The Sea King shook the mirror, and a strange ripple appeared within it. Where the mirror shone, a spatial passage formed.
However, this spatial passage was blocked by layers of seals and was unusable.
“This space is the main force used to suppress that peerless demon. This True Vision Mirror allows one to see clearly the situation of the seal through this space,” said the Sea King.
Chen Xiao focused his gaze. The seal runes in this spatial passage were mostly broken, seemingly on the verge of completely shattering at any moment.
At the deepest part of the spatial passage lay a hazy silhouette—its exact form indistinct, but it roughly resembled some kind of feline creature.
“That’s him,” the Sea King said. Upon seeing that hazy silhouette, his entire body trembled involuntarily, as if out of an innate sense of fear.
“What’s that?” Gui Gui blinked involuntarily as she stared at the silhouette.
“It seems like a kitten…” Mu Mu said uncertainly.
“What?!” As if hearing Gui Gui and Mu Mu’s conversation, the silhouette inside the seal suddenly leaped up. “You two ignorant women dare to call me, the noble and supreme Lord Xixi, a kitten? Once I get out, I’ll eat you first! Roar!”
That self-proclaimed Lord Xixi shouted loudly and struck the seal with its head again, shattering more of the seal runes.
Gui Gui and Mu Mu exchanged a glance, stepped back, and both turned their attention to Chen Xiao.
“A cat… probably a god-tier cat as well,” Chen Xiao shook his head. “Are you just going to stand guard here and wait for it to come out and eat you?”
Even through the seal, Chen Xiao could faintly sense the immense power of the being inside.
“If the seal hadn’t weakened, we Atlanteans could move freely. But now that the seal has weakened, the oracles bestowed by the 108 Beast Gods are taking effect. The Atlantean sea folk exist to protect this seal. It’s about to break—unless we can break the oracles, we can’t leave,” the Sea King said sadly.
Chen Xiao seemed to understand. This seal was placed by the 108 Beast Gods, and the Heavenly Dragon Treasures were the treasures left behind by those gods after their deaths. No wonder the discovery of the Heavenly Dragon Treasures affected this seal.
Chen Xiao frowned. He wasn’t sure what would happen if that creature emerged. It had threatened to turn the entire Atlantis into a pot of fish soup—so it was only natural it might turn the whole Earth into a barbecue.
“By the way, why not bring Shang Xie here and ask him?” Chen Xiao’s eyes lit up slightly. The God of the Ocean had already been subdued by Chen Xiao and was now stationed on the Land of Origins. Since these treasures were sealed by Shang Xie together with the other Beast Gods, perhaps he might have some solution.
“Gui Gui, you’re fast. Go to the Land of Origins immediately and bring Shang Xie here,” Chen Xiao said.
“Yes, young master.” Before her words faded, Gui Gui vanished into thin air.
“Shang Xie?” The Sea King and the sea deity exchanged a glance, both seeing confusion in each other’s eyes.
“The power of this seal seems to have been constantly weakening. It’s likely not a coincidence that it’s been shattered now, thanks to the lingering effect of the discovery of the Heavenly Dragon Treasures.” Chen Xiao raised his head and looked at the Sea King, asking, “Before this, what methods did you use to strengthen this seal?”
“Human lives.” The Sea King did not answer, but the Sea Tribe’s virtual deity spoke up: “Our Atlantis race has an extremely strong reproductive ability, yet our population is still only around a million. A large portion of their lives are devoted to maintaining this seal, using their life force to protect it at all costs.”
As he spoke, all the cultivators present lowered their heads, their faces filled with sorrow.
“Young master!”
Suddenly, a ripple appeared in space, and Gui Gui along with a blue-haired man appeared before Chen Xiao.
As soon as the blue-haired man saw Chen Xiao, he immediately bowed and said, “Heaven! The God of the Ocean!” The virtual deity screamed upon seeing this blue-haired man—it was none other than the God of the Ocean, Shang Xie.
“Is there any solution?” Chen Xiao asked without wasting time.
“No,” Shang Xie shook his head. “In fifty thousand years, this seal will be broken, and then the entire Atlantis Sea Tribe will perish. This is the fate I calculated back then.”
Shang Xie’s expression turned slightly somber. The people of Atlantis were his own race; theoretically, they were all his descendants.
“Wah wah wah! It’s you, the big fish!” The shadow inside the seal seemed to sense Shang Xie’s arrival. It screamed frantically and began pounding against the damaged seal again.
“I’ll turn you into grilled fish slices!”
“What level of deity was this guy back then?” Chen Xiao watched the seal gradually cracking without showing any concern. If Atlantis was doomed, so be it—he could just give up that belief.
Hearing Chen Xiao’s question, Shang Xie was momentarily stunned before saying, “He’s not a deity. He’s some other strange existence. Even the gods can’t explain what kind of being he is.”
“Not a deity?” Chen Xiao blinked. “Wait, you previously predicted that in fifty thousand years, this guy would break free and destroy Atlantis… Did he remain sealed for fifty thousand years without any loss in strength?”
Upon hearing Chen Xiao’s words, the being inside the seal suddenly stopped moving and ceased pounding against the seal, becoming quiet.
“Xi Xi is the best, Xi Xi is the most obedient…” it mumbled.
Chen Xiao and Shang Xie exchanged glances, and the Sea King and the Sea Tribe’s virtual deity also showed signs of joy—but also shock at Chen Xiao’s identity.
The God of the Ocean, the progenitor of Atlantis, was addressing this young master!
“Kid, your tactics are good, but you’re still a bit inexperienced.” Seeing Xi Xi stop causing trouble, Chen Xiao couldn’t help but laugh. “Trying to trick us into opening the seal to let you out? Back then, it took 108 Second-Level Spirit Deities to seal you. Even now that you’re weak, how weak can you really be?”
“Though…”
Chen Xiao narrowed his eyes slightly. In the next moment, his body transformed into a trail of nothingness and vanished from that spot in an instant.
“So fast!”
Shang Xie’s pupils contracted. Before he could react, Chen Xiao had already entered the seal.
This time, Chen Xiao directly used the power of the Primordial Spirit Fire, transforming into a trail of energy that simply ignored the seal. Upon entering the sealed area, Chen Xiao also got a clear view of the creature inside. It was a cat—a small, golden-furred cat only a foot long, with a tiger-like head and body. Yet behind it were two rows of eight golden wings. Was this the supreme demon mentioned by the people of Atlantis? A golden kitten? When it saw Chen Xiao enter, it was first startled, then glanced at the seal in front of him. “The seal is still there. How did you get in?” it asked in disbelief.
