Chapter 069: Assessment
Murong Zi and the others clearly heard Jiang Xianxiang’s words.
“Is it you?”
Murong Zi stared at Jiang Xianxiang for a long time before finally recognizing him.
“You’re also in Jinghua?”
It was obvious that Murong Zi knew Jiang Xianxiang.
“Heh, it really is you?” Jiang Xianxiang widened his eyes, seemingly saying it on purpose, without any embarrassment over his earlier remark about her being a foolish woman.
“Jiang Xianxiang, what do you mean?” Murong Zi’s expression turned ugly.
“Hehe, what do I mean? I should be asking you what you mean.” Jiang Xianxiang’s expression also turned cold. “Hmph, because of your willful actions, my boss lost his job? Pretty funny, right? Now you’re here spouting such harsh words, huh.”
Jiang Xianxiang seemed to know Murong Zi very well, so he quickly figured out what had happened almost instantly.
“Is this kid your boss?” Murong Zi crossed her arms and glared at Jiang Xianxiang coldly. “As expected, you two are of the same kind.”
“Zizi, do you know them?” the girls beside Murong Zi asked.
“Of course. Isn’t this Jiang Xianxiang, the eldest son of the Jiang family from Jiangnan?” Murong Zi raised her chin slightly, speaking with disdain.
“The Jiang family? That once-great Jiang family from Jiangnan that has now declined?” The other three girls were momentarily stunned before asking.
“Isn’t it that once-prosperous Jiang family?” Murong Zi said with a smirk.
“You…”
Jiang Xianxiang’s face turned dark instantly. The original Jiang family had been a major clan on par with the Murong family, but after a major upheaval a few years ago, it had completely declined. Murong Zi was deliberately trying to embarrass him.
“Woman, you’d better leave quickly. I don’t want to deal with you.” At that moment, Chen Xiao spoke up.
“Hmph, you worthless sycophant—how dare you talk to me?” Murong Zi gave Chen Xiao a disdainful look. “Jiang Xianxiang, Young Master Jiang, I never thought your family would sink to associating with people like you. I feel sorry for you!”
With that, Murong Zi sneered disdainfully and then called her companions to head toward another pavilion.
Seeing Jiang Xianxiang’s darkened face, Chen Xiao said coldly, “Didn’t the daughter of the Murong family also wet herself in public?”
“You!”
Hearing this, Murong Zi acted like a cat with its tail stepped on and jumped up instantly.
“Who did you say?” Now, Murong Zi was like a frenzied lioness. She rushed to the entrance of Chen Xiao’s pavilion and shouted inside. Everyone on the second floor heard the noise and turned in that direction.
“Who said I would name them?” Chen Xiao clicked his lips. “Hey, such a big woman wetting herself in public—it’s a shame for her own family.”
“You…” Murong Zi’s eyes turned red. Originally, with Murong Tianhe’s efforts, the incident had been largely covered up. But now, with Chen Xiao bringing it up and Murong Zi’s reaction, it seemed the incident of her wetting herself was confirmed.
“Ziziz…” A few companions beside Murong Zi hurried over.
“I’m fine,” Murong Zi gasped, her full chest rising and falling rapidly. With a murderous glare, she stared at Chen Xiao.
“Kid, I won’t let you off!” After giving Chen Xiao a fierce look, Murong Zi turned and headed downstairs without looking back.
The other three girls exchanged puzzled glances, then glanced at Jiang Xianxiang, whose face was red—whether from anger or laughter—it was unclear. They also looked at Chen Xiao, who appeared innocent, and shook their heads helplessly before chasing after her.
“Boss, what happened? Urinating in public?” Jiang Xianxiang and the others looked at Chen Xiao curiously.
“It’s nothing. Let’s eat,” Chen Xiao said, shaking his head. He was a man who knew his limits. Although that woman had been extremely rude, he wouldn’t do something like that to ruin her reputation. Besides, he knew deep down that it was actually him who had done it.
Using this incident to provoke her into leaving had achieved its purpose. As for what happened afterward, Chen Xiao didn’t care.
…
In the following days, nothing special seemed to happen. Neither the vampires nor the Dark Vampires caused any trouble, seemingly stuck in a special stalemate.
Chen Xiao’s routine returned to normal—classes, meals, sleep. Yet the figure he had been watching disappeared without a trace.
At night, Chen Xiao would enter the Main God’s Space to train for four hours. Whether it was the “Ancient Methods of All Realms” or “Control,” he couldn’t slack off even for a day.
After three days of training, Chen Xiao’s mental strength had stabilized at the peak of the first level, with signs of further improvement. This was closely related to his spiritual clarity from before.
Before he knew it, it was weekend again.
Today was the day he had agreed with Yu Ye Xiao Chen to go for the Hunter Assessment.
At 8 a.m., Chen Xiao didn’t go to the headquarters of China’s Soul but instead used his ability card to enter the World of Abilities.
In the Flame Soul Domain, there was no sign of the previous attack by the evil spirits. The corpses had been cleaned up, and the destroyed shops and markets had been rebuilt.
Outside the headquarters of the Flame Soul Domain Ability Association, Yu Ye Xiao Chen stood with a faint smile, waiting quietly for Chen Xiao’s arrival.
“Chen Xiao, you’re here,” Yu Ye Xiao Chen said with a smile upon seeing him.
“I can’t wait anymore. I’m excited to become a free hunter,” Chen Xiao laughed. “Where are we going for the assessment?”
“Of course, to the domain where the Hunter Union is located. The closest one to the Flame Soul Domain is the Hunter Union of the Red Mist Domain. That’s where we’ll go. But are you taking the assessment as a free hunter or a regular hunter?”
“A free hunter,” Chen Xiao replied firmly. There was a huge difference between a hunter and a free hunter—just two words apart, but worlds apart.
A free hunter was a true hunter, independent of any faction. They were their own superpower, with each member being free. In contrast, regular hunters were merely those who bore the title of hunters.
“Ambitious. But passing the trials of the Free Hunters isn’t that easy. With your current strength…” Yuye Xiaochen looked at Chen Xiao and frowned slightly. At this moment, he felt unable to see through him.
“Fourth level,” Chen Xiao said without hiding it.
“This kid hides quite a few secrets. Otherwise, how could I not see through a fourth-level abler?” Yuye Xiaochen didn’t show his thoughts and simply said, “Then let’s go.”
After that, the two went to the abler transmission array in the Flame Soul Realm. A flash of light appeared, and their figures disappeared.
