Chapter 728: The Future of the Sea of Blood

Ye Feng and the others, including the boss of Tianji Pavilion, had also heard about this person from the restaurant staff. It was said to be a powerful being who descended from a higher plane, possessing the ability to predict the future.
Just because of this ability to foresee the future, Ye Feng was very interested in this person, though he wasn’t sure what purpose they had in approaching him and the others.
“Boss, shall we go?” Jin Wen seemed highly vigilant; he lacked trust in strangers.
Ye Feng didn’t seem surprised and nodded. “Yeah, let’s go take a look.”
Led by the receptionist, the four of them went to the back area. The receptionist stopped at a room door and gestured for them to enter. “Please, come in.”
Ye Feng and his group pushed open the door and stepped in.
The first thing that caught their eye was a screen, and beside it stood a tall woman. Her gaze fell directly on Ye Feng. “You must be Ye Feng. Go in first.”
Ye Feng signaled the others to stay calm before stepping around the screen.
Behind the screen was an elderly woman with white hair and a weathered appearance. Her old age wasn’t just evident in her looks but also in her overall aura—she seemed on the verge of death, ready to pass away at any moment. It was the first time Ye Feng had seen such a scene in the world of cultivation. In fact, even elders were rare in this realm, let alone someone like her.
Though old, the woman was still dressed neatly. She was sitting in a wheelchair, smiling at him. “So, you’re Ye Feng?”
“Yes, I am,” Ye Feng nodded. “I wonder if you have any advice for me?”
“I wouldn’t dare give advice. I just found your fates rather peculiar, so I wanted to meet you,” the woman said with a smile. After a brief pause, she asked, “You must know that I can predict the future, right?”
“Yes,” Ye Feng nodded.
“Then do you want to know what your future holds?” she asked.
“Both yes and no,” Ye Feng gave a strange answer.
“Why? Tell me,” the old woman seemed interested in his response and couldn’t help but ask.
“I want to know because I want to see what kind of person I’ll become in the future,” Ye Feng explained. “As for not wanting to know, it’s because once the outcome is revealed, the process in between becomes uninteresting. I don’t want that to happen.”

“It’s actually I who was rude to you. Let’s drop this matter here. Mr. Ye, just pretend you never saw me.” The old woman nodded and turned to the girl by the screen, “Waner, take Mr. Ye out.”

The girl named Waner stepped forward immediately, gave Ye Feng a somewhat strange look, and asked the old woman, “Miss, why…”

“Don’t ask so many questions,” the old woman shook her head and waved her hand at her.

Ye Feng, however, grew puzzled. “Miss, why does this old woman seem much older than this maid? She should be called ‘madam,’ right?”

“What about the others?” Waner asked reluctantly.

“As for the others, there’s no need. Unless they ask, I might give it a try,” the old woman replied after a brief silence.

Although reluctant, Waner still led Ye Feng away. When they reached in front of the screen, she asked the three of them, “Do any of you want to know your future? You only have one chance. Once you miss it, you won’t get another chance.”

Luo Yan and Jin Wen showed no interest, but Xue Hai, who rarely interacted with the outside world, happily replied, “I want to give it a try!”

“Come with me!” Waner waved at him.

Xue Hai greeted Ye Feng, “I’m going to see what these humans’ special powers are all about. This ability to predict the future seems quite interesting.”

“Mm, come back soon after you’re done,” Ye Feng nodded. “Don’t cause trouble.”

Xue Hai nodded and followed Waner behind the screen.

The moment he saw Xue Hai, the old woman’s expression became visibly stiff before she pretended nothing had happened and asked, “What’s your name?”

“Xue Hai!” Xue Hai smiled. He didn’t think this old woman could see his future. One reason was that he wasn’t from this world, and the other was that he was already a level 9 powerhouse with a large universe condensed within him, just one step away from becoming a level 10 powerhouse.

“What do you want to know?” the old woman asked.

“I want to know what my future will be like,” Xue Hai said calmly. “To be precise, I want to know the fate of our race.”

“Extend your hand,” the old woman said indifferently.

Xue Hai sat down across from her and stretched out his hand.

The old woman also pulled out her right hand from the sleeves of her loose robe. It was a bony hand, with wrinkled skin loosely clinging to the bones; countless folds were so distinct as if telling countless stories of its owner’s past. Her five sharp nails were cloudy, hiding who knew what filth within.

When she stretched out that hand, even Blood Sea felt uneasy and frowned slightly. Yet his posture remained unchanged as he waited for the old woman’s assessment.

The old woman placed her four fingers on Blood Sea’s pulse points, sensing the rhythm emanating from them, then slowly closed her cloudy eyes, seemingly falling into a deep sleep.

Blood Sea blinked at her, wondering what kind of trickery this old woman was up to. But remembering that Ye Feng had told him not to cause trouble before he entered, he could only endure further.

After a long while, the old woman finally opened her eyes. For a moment, those cloudy eyes seemed as clear as water. Blood Sea doubted whether he had been mistaken earlier.

The old woman coughed twice before slowly speaking, “Sir, you’re not from this world, are you?”

Blood Sea raised his eyebrows but said nothing.

“Well, I still saw something,” the old woman said with a smile, unoffended by his silence.

“Tell me,” Blood Sea asked.

The old woman exhaled slowly. “Your fate is tied to your master. Though I can’t see who your master is, I can see that your fate began to thrive after meeting him—it became grander. He can even help you fulfill your deepest desires…”

“Deepest desires…” Blood Sea narrowed his eyes slightly and asked another question, “What about my people?”

“They won’t be exterminated, and within your clan, you’ll hold the highest status and glory,” the old woman replied.

“I hope you’re telling the truth…” Blood Sea then stood up, ready to leave.

“Wait, I have one more question,” the old woman suddenly called out to him.

Blood Sea stopped and turned around. “Go ahead.”

“Is your master Ye Feng?” she asked bluntly.

A slight smile appeared at Blood Sea’s lips. “Can’t you see?”

The old woman shook her head helplessly.

“Well, for now, yes,” Blood Sea replied after a moment of thought.

“Not now, but forever…” The old woman murmured softly as she watched his retreating figure in the sea of blood.
