Chapter 530: Bloodthirsty Snowman

Coldness was Ye Feng’s first sensation upon entering this area. It was still the fifth layer of the Abyss, but this region was the complete opposite of the hellish lava from before.
Ye Feng felt as if he had been thrown from a roasting rack into a freezer. Everything around him was white, with snow even drifting in the sky—though he couldn’t figure out where the snowflakes came from.
Under normal circumstances, he would have enjoyed this pristine world and the crunching sound of stepping on the snow. But here, he remained highly alert to any dangers lurking around.
On this layer, all the magical beasts were at the Saint Emperor level. If he faced them head-on or encountered a pack, his chances of winning were slim.
Ye Feng didn’t dare extend his soul power too far, but within his line of sight, there wasn’t a single living creature.
However, soon something caught his attention.
“A snowman?” Ye Feng saw something that surprised him. “How could anyone build a snowman in a place like this?”
He carefully used his soul power to probe it—no movement at all; it seemed not to be alive. If it were alive, his soul power would detect its soul fluctuations, but there were none from that snowman.
He probed the area around the snowman again but found nothing unusual. Then he walked toward it. Since the snowman was facing away, he couldn’t see its front, so he wanted to go around to see if he could discover anything.
As soon as he reached the front, Ye Feng frowned. On the snowman’s head, a large red stain formed a mouth, looking extremely bloody. At the nose’s location was a dagger with the blade facing outward. Its eyes—unknown to be from which magical beast—were pressed into its head, still oozing blood.
“Damn, this isn’t just a snowman—it’s meant to scare people…” Ye Feng cursed. To build a snowman like this was truly a bizarre and extreme act.
Just as he was about to turn and leave, he noticed the snowman seemed to move.
“Huh?” Ye Feng turned back and observed carefully but found nothing unusual before leaving.
He didn’t realize that after he left, the snowman turned its head 180 degrees and rushed off in another direction, even faster than when Ye Feng first left.
As Ye Feng continued deeper, the snow fell heavier. His vision blurred, and soon he saw something appear not far ahead.

He looked closely and saw hundreds of snowmen neatly arranged, all with their backs turned to him. “What’s going on here? Could these things be alive?”
“Bloodthirsty snowmen, hellish ice creatures with extremely strong defensive capabilities (both physical and spiritual), capable of sealing their souls to disguise themselves as inanimate objects. Weakness: they fear heat.”
At that moment, the snowmen’s heads turned row by row, their faces resembling grotesque graffiti.
Ye Feng thought to himself that things were bad, and soon saw snowballs flying toward him.
Ye Feng immediately fled. These were no ordinary snowballs; despite his attempts to dodge, he was hit several times. The moment the snowballs touched him, they turned into a piercing cold that slowed down the flow of blood in his body, with most of the cold energy targeting his spiritual sea.
“There’s even spiritual attack!” Ye Feng couldn’t help but exclaim, but spiritual attacks were exactly what he feared the least. He had originally planned to hide in the Refining Realm but gave up on that idea.
Spiritual attacks were usually blocked by the Great Clumsy Bell inside Ye Feng’s body—a pseudo-void treasure that grew alongside his soul. It could at least reach the level of a pseudo-void treasure, and it wouldn’t be difficult to advance further to the void treasure level in the future. However, Ye Feng’s soul strength was currently at the early stage of the Holy Emperor level, so that pseudo-void treasure had only reached the level of a high-grade sacred artifact, which was still enough to block 80% of spiritual attacks. The remaining 20% was easily blocked by the ultimate void treasure, the Flowing Palace.
As a spiritual pseudo-void treasure, although it hadn’t fully developed, it still possessed its special abilities. It could not only block spiritual attacks but also purify them into pure spiritual energy to nourish Ye Feng’s soul. Ye Feng had only discovered this function after his soul reached the sacred realm. This was why he stood still and allowed the snowmen to attack him.
Although his soul was safe, his physical body was under severe strain.
Although over 90% of the energy from those snowballs was used for spiritual attacks, the remaining 10% was still formidable, not to mention there were three or four hundred of them.
He could clearly feel his body losing sensation due to the cold, gradually stiffening, while his heartbeat slowed down.

The chill quickly spread throughout his body. Aside from his impregnable sea of consciousness, the only place untouched by the cold was Ye Feng’s dantian. No matter how fiercely the cold attacked, the white vortex absorbed all of it. The spherical object inside him, formed from blue crystals, was also slowly absorbing the cold energy, but its effect was less than one percent of that of the white vortex.

After confirming that his dantian was unharmed, Ye Feng felt completely at ease. This meant not only was his soul safe, but his body would not die either.

The snowmen, however, thought Ye Feng was dead. One of them grabbed one of his feet and dragged him along.

After a while, Ye Feng sensed he had reached his destination. He secretly sent out a trace of his soul power to survey the surroundings. What he saw stunned him—everywhere were human-shaped ice sculptures, thousands in number. His own ice sculpture had also been erected, becoming one of them.

It was then that Ye Feng remembered a similar bizarre description in the martial arts scripture. The bloodthirsty snowmen would cut off the heads of the weak, smear their blood on their own faces, and implant their eyes there. But for the strong, they would freeze them as trophies to be preserved forever.

Ye Feng reflected that he had managed to hold out for at least three minutes under the attacks of hundreds of bloodthirsty snowmen before being frozen—no wonder he was considered a true strongman.

In truth, only Ye Feng knew that with the minimal spiritual energy he possessed, he would have been frozen into ice in just three breaths. It was his Indestructible Bloodline that had allowed him to last three minutes. This wasn’t because the Indestructible Bloodline feared the cold, but rather because its thawing speed was slower than its freezing speed, which is why Ye Feng was frozen. Given more time, the Indestructible Bloodline would eventually thaw him out.

But Ye Feng wasn’t in a hurry. He planned to observe carefully before deciding how to escape.
