Chapter 388: Exchanging Treasures
Ye Feng had spent three full days in the domain of the peak-deity-level beasts, launching nearly twenty attacks on different groups of them. He only succeeded twice and was forced to flee in retreat several times. In those two successful attacks, he killed fifty-two magical beasts and obtained fifty-two core crystals of peak-deity level, which equaled 520,000 points if exchanged for credits. Though three days wasn’t long, it was enough for Ye Feng to learn from over a dozen failures.
He had previously guessed that magical beasts similar to felines had much sharper senses than other beasts, and facts proved him right. He tried several ambush attacks, all of which ended in failure. These beasts were extremely vigilant; the slightest movement would alert them, preparing them to attack or flee at any moment. Moreover, they were incredibly fast—according to Ye Feng’s observations, they were nearly ten times faster than other beasts of the same rank. Especially their sudden burst of speed meant that Ye Feng’s domain magic couldn’t be deployed in time for them to complete an attack or escape. Thus, he gave up hunting these beasts.
Among the twenty waves of beasts he encountered, the most ferocious were the canine magical beasts. Their speed was only slightly slower than that of felines, but their sense of smell was several times sharper. Their populations were also enormous—Ye Feng saw groups of at least fifty, with the largest groups numbering over three hundred. What worried Ye Feng even more was that they could usually detect his presence from afar through their sense of smell before he even noticed them, then hunt him.
The first time Ye Feng encountered such beasts was when he was surrounded by them. He never expected that his stealth skills would be detected. Only later did he realize just how powerful their sense of smell was. It took him nearly two hours to get rid of those over a hundred beasts. Although he didn’t suffer any serious injuries, the experience was quite embarrassing.
Out of the twenty hunting attempts, the only two successful ones were when he hunted Ironclad Beasts. Ye Feng didn’t know what species these giant beasts belonged to. Their massive size and sturdy armor led Ye Feng to give them the nickname “Ironclad Beasts.” The reason Ye Feng hunted them wasn’t because they were weak—in fact, among many beast groups, they were among the strongest. Ye Feng knew that even all three hundred canine beasts combined couldn’t deal with a group of just thirty of these Ironclad Beasts.
Yet this kind of magical beast was suppressed by Ye Feng. It lacked the speed that could frighten Ye Feng, nor did it possess keen senses. Only when Ye Feng appeared would they realize that a human had suddenly appeared there. By the time they noticed, Ye Feng’s domain had already been activated. All that remained was to wait for them to fight each other to the death, so he could collect their crystal cores. He had succeeded every time he tried it twice.
“556,163 points. I wonder what I can exchange for with this…” Ye Feng checked the number of crystal cores in his ring and thought to himself. “If one top-tier divine artifact costs 10,000 points, my current amount is enough to buy over fifty of them. I just don’t know what other treasures there are besides top-tier divine artifacts…”
“It’s been almost four days. The others must have earned quite a few points and gone to exchange them for treasures. I might as well go and see what’s available. It would be worse to exchange millions of points only to find nothing valuable—then it’s better to retreat to the cultivation realm!” With this thought, Ye Feng decided it was time to check what treasures were available. Actually, he wanted to go the next day, but he knew that arriving too early would only attract those who were hoping for a lucky chance and might attack him. Although he wasn’t afraid, he wasn’t someone who liked to cause trouble. He waited until the fourth day because he knew that by then, some strong individuals would surely have found ways to earn points. At that point, fewer people would be paying attention when he went to exchange for treasures.
“I’d better not teleport back. I’ll go back the same way and see how far the others have progressed…” Saying this, Ye Feng concealed his aura and headed back the way he had come.
A young man in a black robe stood at the boundary between the realm of a peak True God and that of an early-stage Heavenly God magical beast, frowning deeply. “Dao Feng has broken through again. He’s even entered the realm of a Heavenly God-level magical beast. With my strength, I can still fight against an early-stage Heavenly God-level warrior. But a swarm of such beasts, even if they’re just at the early stage, is terrifying enough. One wrong move, and I might perish… Should I continue chasing after him or not?”
He hesitated for a long time before suddenly looking in another direction. “Someone’s coming out… That direction seems to be the territory of mid-stage Celestial God-level monsters. That means the opponent is at least a mid-stage True God-level powerhouse. Only mid-stage Celestial God-level or even stronger monsters can grant them points. And this guy is alone—his strength must be quite impressive. I need to avoid him…”
He immediately moved closer to the nearest large tree and disappeared into its dense branches in just a few moves. Then he held his breath, patiently waiting for the unwelcome visitor to leave.
“Huh? I clearly sensed someone nearby just now. Where did they go?” Ye Feng frowned slightly. He retraced his steps but found no one within the range of his mental sensing. He had suddenly detected someone and wanted to check what they had achieved, but upon arrival, they were already gone.
He stopped and looked around, but he also had a guess. “Could it be they hid themselves out of fear that I might rob them?”
“Never mind. If they don’t want to see me, fine!” Ye Feng stayed for a moment before continuing on his way.
“It’s Blade Edge…” The young man in black robes looked gloomy. When he saw Ye Feng appear in his line of sight, he was surprised. “How is that possible? How could he hunt a group of mid-stage Celestial God-level monsters?”
He had originally thought that no matter how much Ye Feng improved, it would be impressive if he could barely hunt a group of early-stage Celestial God-level monsters. Even then, his strength would still be limited compared to his own. But now, seeing Ye Feng emerge from the territory of mid-stage Celestial God-level monsters with his own eyes, he realized that Ye Feng’s strength was far beyond his own. He knew well that without such strength, Ye Feng would never risk his life by wandering into the territory of mid-stage Celestial God-level monsters.
“His strength has improved to this extent…” The young man in black robes clenched his fists tightly, staring fearfully in the direction Ye Feng had gone. After a while, it seemed he suddenly remembered something. “That way… isn’t it the direction back to the camp?”
“Could it be that Ye Feng is returning this time to exchange for treasures?” The young man in black robes suddenly understood.
As soon as they entered this secret realm, everyone was told that points could be exchanged for treasures, and to do so, they had to return to the gathering area at the beginning. This rule seemed somewhat peculiar, but Ye Feng understood it well. The guardians of this realm simply wanted to provide more opportunities for people to get closer to the magical beasts here.
“Spreading this news should attract some strong fighters to him…” The young man in black wore a sinister smile. “If I can’t get it, I won’t let you be safe either!”
Not far from the gathering area, on the outer edge of the magical beast territory, Ye Feng finally saw some figures—a group of strong warriors in the early stage of the Semi-God realm. They naturally recognized Ye Feng and paid him respectful attention from afar, their expressions full of admiration, until he got closer.
Seeing the corpses of magical beasts scattered everywhere, Ye Feng knew his guess was correct. Over the past four days, everyone had finally found a way to deal with magical beast groups that were one rank higher than themselves, and these early-stage Semi-God warriors were no exception.
There was no need to ask anything further. He headed straight for the gathering area.
“Blade has come back to exchange treasures too,” whispers spread among the crowd.
“He truly lives up to being a strong fighter. He’s the fourth person to come back for treasures. With less than a hundred points, there’s no need to exchange anything. Blade must have over a hundred points—I guess at least three hundred…” The voice of a Semi-God warrior came from afar. Ye Feng found it amusing that the other person claimed he had over three hundred points. It was true—over five hundred was indeed more than three hundred…
“Three hundred? I think Blade has over a thousand!” Another person interjected. “Don’t forget—he was able to fight Mo Jing half a year ago. Although Mo Jing was at the peak of the True God realm, his strength was probably on par with the late stage of the Heavenly God realm. The fact that he didn’t die in that battle shows his survival skills are extremely strong, and his overall power is also very high. If I were him, I would definitely challenge things beyond my limits, like a group of Magical Beasts in the mid-stage of the Heavenly God realm… Even if he succeeds just once, he’ll gain a lot!”
“Come on, that’s easy for you to say. No matter how strong Blade is, there’s a limit. His cultivation is still only at the Semi-God realm. With the constraints of his cultivation level, his strength can’t improve significantly in a short time. Besides, after being hit by Mo Jing last time, he’ll definitely be more cautious and not risk his life again. At least, if I almost died and survived, I’d enjoy life more rather than seeking thrills again…” Another person chimed in.
Ye Feng heard it all. He shook his head helplessly with a smile and headed to the square where everyone gathered. “I want to exchange points for treasures!”
