Chapter 150: The Auction
When the female server heard Ye Feng mention the Immortal Grass, a hint of surprise flashed across her face, but it vanished in an instant. “Sir, we need to keep 10% of the auction proceeds as a fee for providing the auction services.”
“I understand that!” Ye Feng nodded with a smile.
“Then let me take you to have them appraised! Elder Yao is our expert in identifying herbs and pills. He has been in this field for over a thousand years. He has seen almost all the herbs in the cultivation world in person.” The female server introduced as she led Ye Feng into a room in the inner hall.
“Elder Yao, this sir has two strands of Immortal Grass to sell. Please take a look first!” she said to an elderly man with white hair who was sleeping on a stool.
“Immortal Grass?!” The old man woke up immediately at the mention of Immortal Grass. He scanned the room before fixing his gaze on Ye Feng. “Do you have Immortal Grass?”
“I have two strands and want to auction them off!” Ye Feng nodded.
“Bring them out quickly so I can see them!” the old man said excitedly.
Although Ye Feng found Elder Yao’s behavior somewhat strange, he still took out the two strands of Immortal Grass and handed them to him.
Elder Yao held the two strands in his hands and examined them carefully before finally nodding and smiling. “It’s indeed Immortal Grass!”
“May I know your name, sir?” Elder Yao reluctantly returned the two strands of Immortal Grass to Ye Feng.
“My name is Ye!” Ye Feng looked at Elder Yao with suspicion, not understanding why he asked.
“Mr. Ye, would you consider selling one of these strands of Immortal Grass directly to me?” Elder Yao asked, his face showing anticipation.
“Is there any difference in price between selling it directly to you and auctioning it to someone else?” Ye Feng asked in surprise.
“I can pay you the same price as the auction price! If one strand of Immortal Grass can fetch ten top-quality spirit crystals through auction, then I’m willing to pay ten top-quality spirit crystals for the other one as well.” Elder Yao seemed unimpressed by the value of ten top-quality spirit crystals.
“If that’s the case, why don’t you participate in the auction?” Ye Feng wondered. “You could just bid for it!”
“I can’t. There are rules at the auction venue to ensure fairness. No internal staff are allowed to participate in the auction under any circumstances,” Elder Yao said with a helpless smile. “If both strands of Immortal Grass are auctioned, I won’t have a chance to get them.”
“Since that’s the case, I’ll auction just one then! As for the other one, I’ll sell it to you at the auction price after it’s over!” Ye Feng nodded in agreement.
“Thank you, Mr. Ye! I appreciate your help!” Elder Yao didn’t expect Ye Feng to agree so easily.
“Elder Yao, I was wondering if you have a list of the items up for auction? If so, I’d like one!” Ye Feng asked.
“That kind of list hasn’t been prepared yet, but it will be ready by tonight. If you want it, I’ll keep one for you and you can come pick it up tonight.” Elder Yao nodded at Ye Feng.
“Thanks!” Ye Feng nodded, slightly embarrassed.
“By the way, what’s the current price for Immortal Grass?” Ye Feng wanted to know a rough price to have an idea.
“Immortal Grass is a rare item. Under normal circumstances, its price on the black market is three top-grade spirit crystals, but it’s basically unobtainable. If auctioned, it’s likely to fetch about five top-grade spirit crystals per plant.” Elder Yao gave his estimate.
“One top-grade spirit crystal is worth 100,000 points in the second-tier domain value. Five would be 500,000 points, and ten would be 1 million points…” Ye Feng smiled to himself. Selling two plants of Immortal Grass could earn him nearly 1 million points in second-tier domain value. He certainly wouldn’t miss such a profitable deal.
Ye Feng had also thought about buying more Immortal Grass for auction, but after careful consideration, he realized it wasn’t a good idea.
Immortal Grass was extremely hard to find. Showing up with two plants already attracted attention. Bringing in one or two more would likely draw the attention of unscrupulous people and cause endless trouble. He gave up on that idea.
After completing the consignment procedures, Ye Feng returned to his temporary residence. As dusk fell, he went back to the auction venue.
“Mr. Ye, here’s the list you wanted!” Elder Yao handed Ye Feng the list of items up for auction.
“Thanks, Elder Yao!” Ye Feng took the list and left in a hurry.
Back at his lodging, Ye Feng examined the list to see if there were any items that interested him.
…
Two days passed quickly. That day, the teleportation array that had brought Ye Feng here emitted another bright light, and several figures appeared inside. If Ye Feng were there, he would surely recognize them as old acquaintances.
After arriving in the new environment, Wudao and the others were clearly not yet accustomed to it. The constant flow of people here made them feel that the population density could compare to that of City S on Earth. They didn’t realize that their arrival coincided with the annual auction, which was the busiest time on the Origin Planet every year. “We’ll carry out this mission according to the plan. The three of us will take the lead, find a place to settle down, and gather information,” Kongxu said to Wudao and Dracula. “It’s possible they’ve already detected our presence…” … “Master, Wudao, Kongxu, and Dracula just appeared at Transport Array No. 29… Should we…” A man in a black robe knelt on the ground and spoke to a young man sitting calmly on a wooden sofa. “Don’t rush. Keep an eye on them! Ye Feng, that big fish, hasn’t been caught yet. I didn’t expect them to actually survive…” The young man waved his hand at the man in black, who respectfully retreated.
