Chapter 128: Is It Him?
Five days passed in a flash, and Ye Feng and the others indeed found that almost half of the world’s strongest fighters had arrived. There were already nine cultivators at the Yuan Ying stage gathered in City H, most of them strangers. The impending storm-like situation made Ye Feng and Long Tian feel somewhat uneasy.
The women acting as bait went out shopping boldly every day, their innate enthusiasm for shopping fully displayed. For four consecutive days, the four women brought back bags upon bags, with no free time at all. This made Ye Feng worry that Pearl might forget the original purpose of sending them shopping.
“Don’t worry. I’ve dealt with that woman Pearl many times before—she’s by no means easy to handle,” Long Tian said, unfazed. He indeed knew Pearl better than Ye Feng. “Using her for this kind of task is a complete waste of her talents.”
“I’m worried they might get too caught up in shopping and forget about this!” Ye Feng still wasn’t convinced.
“I don’t think it’s a big deal. But if you insist on reminding them, go ahead. They probably haven’t left yet!” Long Tian pointed to the apartment across the way.
After hesitating for a while, Ye Feng headed to the apartment where the women were and rang the doorbell.
It was Long Yue who opened the door, still in her nightgown, looking as if she had just woken up. “We’re not going today. After four days of shopping, we’ve bought everything we wanted and even some we didn’t need. Almost all the department stores, specialty shops, and even supermarkets in City H have been emptied by us.”
“Oh, then rest. I happen to have something to discuss with Pearl,” Ye Feng nodded. Long Yue made sense—if they continued like this, it would inevitably draw attention. It was better to take a break.
“Pearl left early this morning. She said since we’ve been going together for days, we can occasionally go as just one or two people to make it seem more natural and trick the enemies easier,” Long Yue explained.
“She went by herself?” Ye Feng realized then that Long Tian was right—Pearl hadn’t slackened at all these days.
Just then, Ye Feng’s phone rang. He saw “Pearl” displayed on the screen and quickly pressed the answer button.
“A guy is coming at me! That orange dot is moving fast. I’m at the entrance of the zoo now…” Pearl’s voice was calm.
“Okay, I’ll be there right away. Be careful and don’t let him catch you,” Ye Feng said before hanging up the phone.
“Is it Zhenzhu?” Long Yue looked at Ye Feng.
“The killer has appeared. I’m heading over right now,” Ye Feng nodded.
“Don’t you need to bring Brother Long Tian along?” Zhuge Ling’er asked curiously, her big eyes fixed on Ye Feng.
“There’s only one person. Brother Long should stay behind to protect you guys. I can handle it alone!” Ye Feng shook his head. “If he asks, just tell the truth. I’m off now!”
By the time Ye Feng arrived at the zoo entrance, there was no sign of Zhenzhu. He also had no idea where that Yuan Ying stage powerhouse was at that moment.
Just then, a little boy came up to him, tugging at the hem of his clothes. “Uncle, a sister told me to wait here and give you these sunglasses. She said you’d give me a hundred yuan.”
Ye Feng glanced at the detector in the boy’s hand, took out his wallet, handed the boy a hundred yuan, and casually took the detector. “Thank you!”
After putting on the detector, Ye Feng looked around. There was only one Yuan Ying stage powerhouse near the zoo, about three hundred meters away, scanning the area.
“Is it him?” Ye Feng frowned slightly. He hadn’t expected this person to be one of the men in black robes and masks.
Ye Feng pretended to be indifferent as he walked toward the target.
The young man dressed in fancy casual clothes was clearly stunned when he saw Ye Feng, his expression hesitant, as if struggling whether to avoid Ye Feng or act like nothing had happened.
Finally, he made up his mind and waved at Ye Feng. “Brother Ye Feng, I never expected to meet you here!”
Ye Feng noticed all these subtle movements, which made him even more certain that this man was one of the men in black robes and masks.
“Pei Hong, when did you arrive in H City? Is anyone with you?” Ye Feng wanted to know more about the others.
“No, I came by myself. I have some personal matters to take care of back in the country,” Pei Hong forced a smile.
“But it seems like you’re looking for someone. Could it be that one of your friends got lost?” Ye Feng asked deliberately.
“Oh, I’m just looking for the restroom. I’m not looking for anyone!” Pei Hong glanced around.
“Oh, I see. Your clothes today aren’t as cool as that black set! Where did you buy that metal mask? How much does it cost?” Ye Feng still had a smile on his face, pretending to be casual.
“What black clothes? What metal mask?” Pei Hong acted confused. “I don’t understand what you’re talking about!”
“Do you really not understand, or are you pretending?” Ye Feng stepped closer to Pei Hong. “If you dare to do it, why not admit it?”
“There must be some misunderstanding between us!” Pei Hong still refused to admit it.
“A misunderstanding?” Ye Feng sneered. “Did you come here chasing after this woman named Pearl out of some misunderstanding as well?”
“I don’t know any woman you’re talking about, this Pearl.” Pei Hong stubbornly denied it. “I’m not following anyone either; I just happened to be at the zoo.”
“Since you won’t share this secret with me, then I have a secret of my own that I also don’t intend to share with you.” Ye Feng’s lips curled slightly. “I know there’s a medium-grade spirit crystal in a certain place!”
“What?” Pei Hong’s pupils shrank sharply upon hearing this. Hearing about the medium-grade spirit crystal stirred his emotions.
“Do you want to know where the medium-grade spirit crystal is…” Ye Feng wouldn’t budge. “Tell me, how many of these incidents— the Massacre in the Ghost Market, the death of Hu Die, and the death of Edward—were you involved in? How many members are there in your group, and who are they?”
“If I didn’t do it, then I didn’t do it! Ye Feng, don’t be too harsh on me. You keep calling me a murderer.” Pei Hong’s expression turned serious. “If you keep talking nonsense like this, I’ll have to teach you a lesson!”
“Oh, it’s hard to say who will teach whom!” Ye Feng felt a bit excited too; he was looking forward to a fight with him.
“How arrogant!” Pei Hong frowned slightly. “Since we can’t reach an agreement, let’s settle this head-to-head! Let’s see if you’re right or I’m right!”
