Chapter 889: Grafting

After resting for over two days, the Snake Woman gathered all the magical beasts together—it was time to move away from Devil Island. Out of curiosity, Su Che followed them to the far edge of the island. By “far edge,” it meant that Devil Island resembled an irregular rectangular shape, with this end being slightly narrower. Over two thousand magical beasts lined up along the island’s edge, their heads facing outward, as if ready to burst out at any moment. Yet Su Che knew that their tails, which were actually the roots of the Chaos Tree, could never break through this energy barrier.

The Snake Woman let out a strange hiss. At her command, the two thousand-plus beasts simultaneously expelled a stream of air outward, converging into an incredibly powerful thrust. Indeed, Devil Island began to move slowly amidst the chaos.

“Exhaling air to propel the entire island using such a flow—quite an innovative method.” Su Che found it interesting but not overly surprised. After all, the strength of these two thousand beasts was equivalent to that of over a thousand Chaos Travelers, so pushing a floating island wasn’t a problem for them.

There was no air in the cosmic sky, so resistance was almost non-existent. But in the chaos, the thick mist created much greater resistance than in water. Thus, moving such a large island required more than just a couple of people.

Due to inertia, Devil Island’s speed increased rapidly. After fifteen minutes, it matched Su Che’s flying speed in the chaos—traveling millions of miles with each breath. Few people would be able to locate Devil Island after flying like this for hundreds of years. However, with the Snake Woman’s help, Su Che extended his consciousness through the energy barrier and discovered that two travelers were following them from millions of miles behind.

And these two weren’t ordinary travelers—they were clearly top-tier warriors like Wan Gu.

“They still haven’t given up.” Su Che had anticipated this possibility and wasn’t surprised.

“What should we do?” the Snake Woman asked, tilting her head. “They’re outside the island, and I can’t do anything to them. If we keep being followed like this, no matter how far we run, it’s useless. Soon, they’ll invade the island and keep harassing us.”

“To live in peace, we must eliminate these two pursuers,” Su Che replied gravely. “But we need to come up with a proper plan for that.”

Two top-tier warriors like Wan Gu—by normal means, Su Che was quite certain that even with a time domain and the assistance of the four Tianyin members, it would still be impossible to defeat them. Unless they went crazy and voluntarily descended to Mo Li Island to be attacked by the Snake Women, it might be possible. Of course, that was impossible.

Over ten days passed, with the pursuers always following behind, yet Su Che couldn’t come up with a good way to deal with them. It was indeed a nearly unsolvable problem.

“Since I can’t think of a good solution, let them keep following,” Su Che said to the Snake Women. “I hope that during this long flight, other opportunities will arise. With changes, maybe there will be a way.”

“That’s the only option. It’s much better than staying put and waiting for them to gather more people to attack us.”

The Snake Women nodded and said in a sweet voice, “It’s great having you around. I don’t have to worry about anything.”

Su Che smiled silently. Though he appeared calm, he was actually quite anxious. The most needed Mist Sea Divine Ship had already been found on Wan Gu’s corpse. For him, the top priority now was to control the ship and set off on the journey to find that oldest universe as soon as possible.

But at this point, he had already regarded the Snake Women as true friends. He couldn’t just ignore their difficulties and leave without caring, right? He really couldn’t do such a thing.

The Snake Women couldn’t sense Su Che’s anxiety because she had almost no sense of time. She couldn’t imagine anyone worrying over just one or two Chaos Eras. Her thinking was simple: as long as Su Che was on the island, she didn’t have to worry about any complicated matters. So, even though she knew someone was following them, she remained extremely relaxed.

Moreover, inside the Immortal Prison, through Wan Gu’s and another top-tier warrior’s corpses, Su Che only obtained a large amount of Chaos materials and no skills from them. This was because they didn’t possess a divine essence like Ao Zu. Unlike the true immortals in their universe, whose magical skills disappeared upon death, these warriors lacked such qualities.

Of course, having obtained the Mist Sea Divine Ship already made Su Che quite satisfied. He was also sure that the ship wasn’t difficult to control—just one person needed to steer it to fly indefinitely in the Chaos.

It must be admitted that without the help of the Snake Woman, it would be impossible to obtain the Misty Sea Divine Ship. For this reason, Su Che could not abandon her at a time when she needed help the most.
Huhuuhu…
The Island of Magic and Separation resembled a comet with a long tail, continuously flying through chaos. Decades passed in just such a flight.
Those two pursuers were still there, never leaving. Not to mention the decades Su Che thought of—even dozens of ages of chaos, they would never give up.
These immortal travelers of chaos didn’t care about such time at all, but Su Che couldn’t ignore it.
The longer he waited, the more anxious he became, yet no change he hoped for came.
One day, Su Che truly lost patience. Unable to hold back any longer, he finally said to the Snake Woman, “I want to try something. I hope you can cooperate. Is that okay?”
“What kind of attempt? Tell me,” the Snake Woman replied cheerfully.
Su Che asked, “Will these magical beasts you command die once they lose connection with the Tree of Separation?”
“Yes,” the Snake Woman replied curiously. “You’ve already seen it with your own eyes. Why do you still ask?”
“I mean, do they die immediately, with no difference in timing?” Su Che continued.
“There is a difference,” the Snake Woman replied. “Last time, Tianyin used her sonic powers to sever their tails completely, causing them to die right away. If the tails were cut shorter, they could hold on a little longer.”
“Yes, that’s exactly what I need,” Su Che thought with joy and added, “So, the longer the tail, the longer they can survive?”
“That’s right,” the Snake Woman nodded blankly, unable to understand why Su Che was asking these questions.
As long as they lost connection with the Tree of Separation, those magical beasts would die, and so would she. However, if their tails were severed completely, they would die immediately; if they were longer, they could survive up to half an hour before dying.
But what meaning did such a small difference in time have?
“I need a few magical beasts for experiments, but they might die,” Su Che said seriously. “But if the experiment succeeds, I might be able to free you from the burden of your tails, allowing you to fly off the Island of Magic and Separation and chase after these intruders in chaos, thus better protecting the Tree of Separation.”
“Huh? What did you say?”
The Snake Woman was shocked, unable to believe her ears.

As independent beings, none of them wished to be tied down by a tail like a chain, confined to a tiny island. Though they didn’t want to leave the Confusion Divine Tree, they longed for true freedom. At the very least, as Su Che said, being able to leave the island freely would allow them to protect the Confusion Divine Tree better. But how could Su Che do what even the Mother Goddess couldn’t?

“Before that, I hope to get a branch from the Confusion Divine Tree. Could you ask for it for me?” Su Che asked again.

“That’s no problem. I’ll go get it for you right away.”

The serpent woman had already regarded Su Che as her most trusted friend and had no doubts about his intentions. She immediately turned to leave, convinced that the Mother Goddess wouldn’t be so stingy—losing just one branch wouldn’t affect her at all.

After a while, the serpent woman returned with a branch nearly forty feet long, adorned with thousands of huge leaves, each at least nine feet in radius.

“Good.”

Without further explanation, Su Che immediately placed the branch in the Immortal Prison and sent it to the Creation Divine Tree.

“Did you really get it?”

At this moment, the Creation Divine Tree wasn’t as calm as Su Che. As another “Divine Tree,” the changes and benefits that coming into possession of a branch from this primordial, treasure-level Divine Tree could bring were beyond simple description.

Whoosh!

As the branch was grafted onto her trunk, she instantly exclaimed in excitement, “Amazing! Master, this is absolutely amazing!”

It was impossible to explain just how amazing it was in just a moment. Su Che was more concerned about, “Should our plan work?”

“Absolutely no problem!” the Creation Divine Tree replied firmly.

By grafting this branch, the Creation Divine Tree would, to some extent, possess many of the traits of the Confusion Divine Tree, which meant…

With a definite answer, Su Che said to the serpent woman, “Find any magical beast and cut off its tail to the longest possible length.”

“Okay.”

The serpent woman summoned a random magical beast—she could call it a brave warrior willing to sacrifice itself or just an unlucky test subject.

Sssh!

The beast broke free from its connection to the Confusion Divine Tree, and its tail, stretching over twenty feet long, was pulled out of the ground.

The Snake Woman had already explained that this was the longest possible state; any longer and its lifespan could not be extended. It would still be half an hour, as Su Che understood it.
Swish!
Su Che trapped this defenseless magical beast in the Immortal Prison and brought it beneath the Tree of Fate.
At the sight of the Tree of Fate, the magical beast, knowing certain death, was momentarily stunned. It let out a few low whines, not as a hostile warning but rather like an earnest call.
For near the Tree of Fate, it sensed a familiar presence akin to that of a mother goddess, which instantly calmed its dying heart.
It lay on the ground, pressed against some of the thick roots of the Tree of Fate that protruded above the surface, ready to spend its final moments in this state of peace.
Of course, this was just an idea in its mind…
