Chapter 864: Dispute
With Su Che’s permission, Zhuo Li stepped forward until she was about ten feet away before stopping.
On the other side, for reasons unknown, House also approached, but Manzi stopped him in time.
“House, it’s better if you don’t come any closer without our permission, to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings,” Manzi sent through a mental message that everyone could hear.
House, with his golden horns atop his head, grunted and his eyes flashed with hostility, but he stopped where he was.
Su Che looked at Zhuo Li and asked mentally, “Is there something?”
“We know quite a bit about Devil Island. We’ve explored it many times, but we’ve never encountered something like this before…” Zhuo Li spoke cautiously, “But today, on your first visit, an unprecedented ice anomaly occurred—something we’ve never seen or heard of before. I have reason to suspect that it might be caused by your arrival. I know this sounds rude, but for the safety of all of us, I hope to understand the real reason.”
“That’s right!” House shouted from a distance of a thousand feet. “I also think they’re responsible for this accident, which cost us two teammates right away.”
The four people who disappeared earlier were split between Zhuo Li’s and House’s teams, two each.
With already small teams, such losses were indeed devastating.
Su Che ignored House’s shouting and continued to look at Zhuo Li, replying mentally, “As you said, this is our first time on the island, and we know nothing about anything here. How could we possibly know if today’s incident is related to us? If you want to know the reason, I also want to uncover the truth.”
Manzi stepped forward to defend Su Che and the others. “No one can claim to truly understand Devil Island. How can we be sure this anomaly isn’t just a coincidence?”
Zhuo Li nodded gently. “I’m not trying to trouble or accuse anyone. I just hope to find out the reason so as to prevent further casualties. After all, it wasn’t easy for any of us to get this far. There are countless opportunities in chaos, and it’s not worth losing our lives on such an island, right?”
“That’s true,” Su Che nodded calmly. “I understand your point and can fully relate to it. But right now, we’re all in crisis, just like you. We really don’t know what caused today’s anomaly.”
“I believe you.”
Zhuo Li’s expression and tone softened considerably. “So, I hope we can have an open discussion to identify the problems, such as…”
Her gaze fell on Xiao Hei, and she continued, “Your companion has an extremely unique form of life—by far the most special among us. That’s surely one thing worth paying attention to, right?”
“That’s correct,” Su Che admitted calmly. “Our companion is a special being made of chaotic energy. But precisely because of that, he’s more qualified to survive in the chaotic realm than any of us. I don’t think there’s anything unreasonable about his existence.”
“I didn’t say his form of existence is unreasonable. I just…”
At this point, Zhuo Li didn’t know how to express herself properly. She certainly couldn’t demand that Su Che kick Xiao Hei out of the group, isolate him, or even sacrifice him to Mo Li Island just because of suspicion. Such an outrageous request was simply unacceptable.
However, someone else could say such things. House shouted from a distance of a thousand feet, “Since he’s a special case, in this situation, he should be separated from the group and sent out alone. Maybe that will save all of us from disaster.”
“Bullshit!”
Lao Hei became furious immediately and cursed loudly through telepathy, “A hundred of bastards like you aren’t even worth a single hair on my Xiao Hei’s leg. Delusional fool! Just wait to die right here! Fuck you!”
“Looking for death!”
House flew into a rage, moving swiftly toward them.
Swish!
The two short swords hanging at Zhuo Li’s waist appeared in her hands in an instant. With two swift slashes, she sent blades of energy that flashed past House’s feet.
House stopped immediately, panting heavily, glaring at Zhuo Li. A glow had formed around his horns. Yet it was clear he feared her deeply and wouldn’t attack rashly.
Holding her swords, Zhuo Li pointed at the thick ice mist above and snapped sternly, “House, is now the time for internal strife? Do you have any sense?”
House growled viciously but held back for now.
Then, Zhuo Li turned to Su Che and said, “Please keep your man in check and be mindful of your words.”
“Sure.”
Su Che nodded with a smile, agreeing at first before replying, “But from now on, if anyone else dares to spout nonsense like giving up on companions or betraying friends, even if the current situation isn’t suitable for infighting, I won’t be polite with them either.”
Zhuo Li frowned slightly and said nothing more, but she was convinced that Su Che and his group belonged to the extremely tough type—threatening them with words would never make them compromise…
Su Che had already figured it out: there was no need to be polite with people like House. If you didn’t trick him, he would trick you instead. Once such a guy got a chance, he would strike from behind.
By now, everyone knew that just talking wouldn’t lead to any results. Even though they suspected that the cause of the Ice Island anomaly might lie with Su Che and his group, without concrete evidence, nothing could be done.
In this crisis, if the three teams fought each other, everyone would surely be destroyed. No one would do such a foolish thing.
Yet at that moment, Su Che also wondered inwardly, “Could it really be true, as they say, that it’s our presence that caused this anomaly on Magic Island?”
“What special thing could we possibly have? Is it because of Xiao Hei?”
Su Che thought he was quite special only in his original universe. Now, in this chaos, even with the Immortal Prison, he was just an ordinary traveler in chaos.
Tian Yin’s strength was clearly weaker than that of characters like Zhuo Li and House, so she also had no special traits.
As for what Lao Hei controlled, it was nothing but a puppet magic artifact made from the body of a tiger-patterned monster—needless to say.
After all this reasoning, it seemed that only Xiao Hei was truly special. Could it be that some force on Magic Island wanted to capture Xiao Hei alive, hence causing such a big disturbance?
After pondering for a long time, Su Che could only think this far.
“I still hope…”
Zhuo Li sent another message, about to say something, but at that moment, the already thick ice poison mist above suddenly changed again after a period of silence.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Dozens of giant figures descended from the mist—fourteen giants entirely made of ice crystals.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom…
These ice crystal giants immediately scattered, each choosing a target, and without hesitation, charged forward with a rumbling sound.
Obviously, this is a clear declaration from some force: one-on-one, fair duel!
