Chapter 859: Landing on the Island

The five-member team discussed for a long time. After several hours, they slowly drifted toward Devil Island.
Xiao Hei shrank to normal human height. Lao Hei led the way, with him following behind, protecting Su Che and Tian Yin in the middle.
It was time to land on the island.
Su Che knew that the first attempt might not succeed in obtaining the Purple Crystal Fruit. The key was to ensure they could escape unharmed and gradually accumulate experience by trying again and again to find the weaknesses of those magical beasts.
There were less than 100,000 miles left to Devil Island when several figures rushed out of the chaotic mist on the left, moving at high speeds—clearly well-acquainted with the area.
There were six of them, each with a distinct appearance. Though they all had upright human-like postures, they still differed significantly from normal humans like Su Che.
For example, the one who spoke now had a muscular build, nearly ten feet tall, with dense dark golden scales covering his skin exposed outside his clothes, as well as on his face. He wore a silver ring at his nostrils, possibly just for decoration, and had a golden horn over a foot long right in the center of his forehead…
Still, he couldn’t be called oddly shaped, as not only were creatures from other universes very different from humans, but even in our own universe, many demon races preferred to retain certain racial traits after attaining immortality—such as tails, horns, fangs, wings, etc.
“Manzi, where did you find these new friends?”
The golden-horned creature sent a mental message that Su Che and the others could hear.
Manzi merely snorted coldly without responding, clearly unfriendly toward them and even too lazy to talk.
Su Che replied with a smile, “The four of us have heard various rumors about Devil Island. This is our first time here.”
The golden-horned creature let out several strange laughs before sending another mental message, “Since it’s your first time here and you want to explore Devil Island to get the Purple Crystal Fruit, you should find a reliable team to work with. As for this little Manzi, it seems he can only run away.”
“Exactly!”
The other travelers with him let out series of strange, non-human-like laughs in agreement, adding, “Manzi, what else can you do besides run away?”
Manzi’s delicate and cute face immediately showed signs of anger, though his sleepy eyes couldn’t be opened any wider.

Manzi sent a telepathic message: “Haus, what else can you do besides spouting nonsense and framing others? I really… enough, I really don’t want to talk to you anymore.”
She then sent a message to Su Che and the others to explain, “These guys are exactly the kind of people I mentioned before—completely untrustworthy. The last time we went to the island and were surrounded by magical beasts, they only knew how to use others as scapegoats, even killing one of their teammates. If it weren’t for my quicker reaction, I would have been killed by them too.”
Su Che nodded gently and said to her, “It’s okay. You don’t need to worry. I trust you, but I won’t trust them. It’s obvious at a glance that these people aren’t good ones.”
Although one can’t judge by appearance, these guys indeed gave off a vile impression, like street thugs. After all, they were the most outstanding peak figures in their respective universes. Even those who practiced dark magic should have some basic dignity and self-control.
In our universe, not to mention the immortals in the celestial realm, just the Golden Core cultivators in the mortal world—each of them had an air of elegance and dignity, appearing mysterious and profound in the eyes of ordinary people, like great immortal masters.
Even the most cunning and despicable scoundrels had to pretend to have a noble appearance on the surface.
Looking at the guys across from them, some had horns on their heads, others were covered in fur. The way they spoke gave them an appearance that didn’t resemble those who had lived for countless years as chaotic powerhouses at all; instead, they looked like low-level little demons from the mountains and forests, with limited intelligence.
Is the difference between universes really that great?
In this regard, Su Che found it hard to understand.
Moreover, although the six of them were part of the same group, they kept at least a thousand zhang of distance from each other, which showed that they also lacked sufficient trust among themselves, with each individual constantly on guard against the others.
With such a team, Su Che would never join them—even risking it alone would be better.
Just then, several figures flew quickly from another direction. When they got closer, it became clear that these people’s appearances were much more normal.
There were seven in total. Three of them had only slight differences from ordinary humans in appearance, while the other four looked no different from humans like Su Che at first glance.
“Manzi, are you guys planning to go to the island right now?”

The speaker was a powerful female in a dark purple form-fitting leather jacket. By human standards of beauty, she had a stunning appearance and a captivating figure, truly deserving the title of a peerless beauty. Su Che noticed that two oddly shaped short swords were crossed across her lower back. Such a pair of weapons with identical appearances, showing no differences at all, could hardly be natural chaotic treasures; they must have been crafted by her own hands. Su Che thought to himself, “By abandoning naturally formed chaotic treasures, it shows that her skill in crafting weapons must be extremely high.” Manzi’s attitude toward this powerful woman was much better. He immediately replied, “Yes, we plan to go to the island and give it a try, but not too deeply, just to let their four friends who have just arrived get familiar with the various conditions on Magic Island.” Then he transmitted a message to Su Che and the others, introducing her: “This woman’s name is Zhuo Li. Like House, she is one of the few travelers who know Magic Island best. She has even succeeded in picking purple crystal fruits, which is why she serves as the leader of their respective teams.” “Oh?” Su Che asked curiously, “Have they ever successfully obtained purple crystal fruits? How many?” Manzi replied via telepathy, “Zhuo Li has only gotten two, while House claims he picked four, but I think he’s just bragging. Honestly, if one can get more than three, they can leave here satisfied.” “I see…” Su Che nodded silently. At that moment, they received another telepathic message from the powerful woman named Zhuo Li: “Manzi, discuss with your new partners whether you mind if our team joins you on the island.” Join them on the island? Hearing this, Su Che was puzzled. After all, those people were experienced, so why would they be interested in them, newcomers? Manzi quickly explained, “The travelers who have stayed here for a long time share a common belief—that there must be some force in the chaos that can counteract the magical beasts on Magic Island. Therefore, they hold some hope for every newcomer who arrives here. To be honest, it’s already polite of Zhuo Li to ask our opinion first. Even if House’s group doesn’t say anything and insists on following us, there’s nothing we can do about them.” “Understood,” Su Che nodded and replied, “Since we can’t stop them, let them do as they please. For matters like this, you as the leader can make the final decision.” “Okay, thank you.”

Manzi nodded in agreement. Feeling reassured by the trust Su Che showed, she thought, It seems we really chose the right partner this time. After communicating with Su Che, Manzi sent a mental message to Zhuo Li and the others in the distance: It’s possible, but be careful. Please don’t get too close, especially at critical moments—keep a safe distance to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings. “No problem,” Zhuo Li replied promptly. Her six companions also appeared calm, showing no unusual expressions. Clearly, it was their group’s composure that reflected the detached demeanor expected of Chaos-level powerhouses. Still, even so, the seven of them maintained a safe distance of about a thousand feet from each other. Getting as close as Su Che’s group was, almost touching, seemed rare in the Chaos realm. Without further ado, guided by Manzi, Su Che and the others flew toward a certain location on Devil Island. Just before landing, Manzi explained via mental message: Based on past experiences, I think landing here and moving inland has the lowest chance of being surrounded by magical beasts, giving us the best chance of safe withdrawal. But it’s absolutely impossible to completely avoid those beasts. “Understood,” Su Che nodded without hesitation. Since a decision had been made and he was given the role of team leader, they had to trust him fully and follow all his decisions. Half-belief was the worst option—most detestable. The entire Devil Island was enveloped in a strange energy layer. This layer didn’t block outsiders, but as soon as Su Che and the others came into contact with it, they immediately felt an irresistible gravitational pull on their bodies. Since it was irresistible, it meant they would fall and could only walk on the island, never fly again. This was one of Devil Island’s characteristics. Before coming here, through the soul memories of the tiger-patterned monster, Su Che and the others already knew about this. Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud! The heavy landing sounds came from Su Che, Tianyin, Lao Hei, and Manzi. Only Xiao Hei, though unable to fly either, landed extremely lightly, making no sound at all. Although Manzi didn’t ask anything, her gaze toward Xiao Hei clearly showed delight.

Su Che believed that it might be because Xiao Hei’s form of life was vastly different from normal creatures. To be precise, he was purely an energy entity without a physical body with bones and flesh, so he would certainly be subject to much less gravitational influence. At first glance, Mo Li Island was indeed a desolate world of pure black—black soil, black rocks, with hardly any plants in sight, except for the legendary innate divine tree that stood thousands of feet tall. Since he was at the edge of the island, he naturally couldn’t see that giant tree. Su Che gazed into the distance and thought to himself, “The innate divine tree born from chaos—I wonder if it could bring some opportunity to my own Creative Divine Tree?”
