Chapter 119: Extreme Disappointment
The urging voice rang in his mind again. Su Che was naturally anxious, but convincing this snake woman wasn’t easy at all.
It couldn’t be blamed on her stubbornness—after all, it was a matter of life and death, and no one would trust someone, especially someone who might kill them.
“Sigh!”
Su Che let out a long sigh and transmitted a message to her, “It’s urging me again.”
“Then just do it,” the snake woman said, lacking confidence.
Though imprisoned for over a thousand years, she still didn’t want to die. In her mind, a young shaman like Su Che could easily kill her if he really decided to.
Adult shaman warriors could transform into giants over a hundred feet tall; even underage boys with such abilities could become giants dozens of feet high, making it easy for them to crush a small snake several feet long.
“Enough!”
Su Che stomped his foot, his face filled with anger. “If I fail this trial, at most I’ll get a beating with a whip. As for you, just wait to be strangled by the next shaman.”
With that, Su Che strode away without looking back.
Of course, this was just Su Che’s tactic of feigning indifference. If she still didn’t relent, he would have to use another method…
Yes, there was another method. Su Che believed he hadn’t run out of tricks and still had a way to proceed.
“Wait…”
Fortunately, she called out to him.
The snake woman transmitted her voice softly, “I don’t want to die, but I certainly don’t want to be imprisoned for another thousand years. If it weren’t for our tribe’s beliefs against suicide, I would have already…”
Su Che didn’t turn around, listening silently as he endured the mental torment of “kill her, kill her” in his mind.
She continued, “If all your words are lies and you still intend to take my life, I have one request—will you agree?”
“I’ll say it again: I won’t kill you!” Su Che replied through telepathy.
“No!” the snake woman interrupted. “Listen to me. Whatever happens, agree to this first. If I die, please scatter my ashes at the foot of the Mulan Mountains. That’s my hometown, where I was born. I hope my soul can return there.”
“Okay, I agree! But I still say I won’t kill you!” Su Che replied firmly.
“Very well.”
The snake woman slowly closed her eyes and said softly, “Do as you wish.”
If one ignored her thick, long snake tail and focused only on her beautiful upper body, her seemingly fragile state at this moment was truly heart-stirring… Fortunately, Su Che Lang had an iron will and was never swayed by women’s charms. He simply transmitted a message: “I’ll slap you on the back of the head. Pretend to be unconscious and fall to the ground. Just don’t resist mentally. Can you accept that?”
“I already said, it’s up to you,” she replied, opening her eyelids slightly and giving him a faint glance.
“Good.”
Su Che stood where he was and shouted at her, “Fix it!”
The snake woman was puzzled, feeling completely normal. Only then did she realize that his shout of “Fix it!” was merely a trick, meant only to deceive ‘that voice.’
Next, Su Che stepped forward a few paces, came behind her, and raised his hand to strike. It seemed fierce, but when it actually touched the back of her head, despite the loud noise, it didn’t cause any pain.
The snake woman reluctantly wriggled her tail a few times before pretending to fall to the ground. Then, she heard Su Che’s message again: “I’m going to burn you with fire. This fire is only for show—it won’t hurt you.”
“Go ahead.”
By now, the snake woman was filled with curiosity, eagerly waiting to see what other tricks he would pull.
Whoosh~~~
Su Che used the same trick—spitting flames and thick black smoke—to create the illusion of burning her with fire.
To be honest, it was only because he thought the ‘Holy Land’s Guardian Power’ was limited in wisdom that he dared believe such a crude method could deceive it. After all, he had already succeeded once in that temple, so he believed he could do it again.
When he felt the fire was at the right intensity, Su Che transmitted another message to her: “Don’t resist mentally. I’m going to put you inside some magical artifact.”
The snake woman remained motionless, clearly submitting herself to Su Che’s actions.
Swish.
The snake woman disappeared.
Su Che roared and slapped the spot where she had disappeared, sending clouds of white dust into the air—actually just dust scattered from the Immortal Prison.
“Can I deceive it?”
After the performance, Su Che was secretly nervous…
After waiting quietly for a while with nothing unusual happening, he felt slightly relieved.
In the Immortal Prison, Lao Hei had already stood in front of the snake woman and said cheerfully, “Hey, beauty, you can get up now.”
The snake woman slowly got up. Seeing Lao Hei’s appearance shocked her, even as a monster.
“You… you are…”
With a flick of her tail, she retreated more than ten feet away.
“Don’t be afraid!” Lao He grinned. “I’m the steward of this little world, or you could say a warden. From now on, we’ll be friends. You’ll be living here for a while.”
“Steward? Warden?” The snake woman was full of confusion and couldn’t make sense of the situation at all.
“Go around and take a look,” Lao He said generously, waving his hand. “This place isn’t very large—about a hundred miles in radius. But I think it will grow bigger soon… And you definitely won’t be lonely here; there are many people who can talk to you…”
Next, as a host, Lao He showed the snake woman around, telling her that this was the inner world of a high-grade magical artifact, without mentioning the wonders of the Immortal Prison Pagoda.
The snake woman wasn’t surprised by the term “inner world of a magical artifact.” Generally, a spiritual treasure-class spatial artifact could form its own independent space. Although spiritual treasures were precious, they weren’t exactly astonishing.
She guessed that the spatial artifact they were in was at least a top-tier spiritual treasure; otherwise, the interior space couldn’t be so large.
It should be noted that the snake woman wasn’t a prisoner of the Immortal Prison, so Lao He treated her very kindly, knowing that the master would surely set her free when the time was right.
Lao He knew very well the master’s character—rather than take certain risks, he would keep his promise and grant the snake woman the freedom she deserved.
At that moment, Su Che couldn’t focus on the snake woman in the Immortal Prison. Instead, he returned to the wooden door in the immortal estate’s treasury, still trying desperately to open it, convinced that there must be treasures inside.
After spending half a day trying, he still couldn’t open the door. In desperation, Su Che cried out to the heavens, “Reward me! Reward me! Reward me! Reward me! Reward me…”
This nagging was both the only way Su Che could think of to communicate with “it,” and it also carried a hint of revenge: If you nag me, I’ll nag you back!
Yet, after nagging dozens of times, he received no reply.
Worried that “it” might be too limited in wisdom to figure out what reward to give him, Su Che knocked on the door and shouted, “This will do—help me open it.”
As soon as he spoke, the door swung open! Not only that, but the entire wooden door suddenly shrank, turning into a palm-sized brown wooden talisman with the character “suppress” faintly visible on it.
“It turned into a talisman?”
Su Che held the wooden talisman in his hand, too busy to examine it closely at the moment. With a swift step, he rushed into the room—only to be… utterly disappointed! Deeply disappointed! Completely devastated! The room was empty; there wasn’t anything there at all. “Damn it! Someone must have emptied it!” Su Che grumbled inwardly. “Millions of years ago, those Witch Clan members must have taken everything away!” At that moment, he deeply regretted accepting such a reward. “Sigh!” With a long sigh, Su Che stared at the wooden talisman in his hand, thinking, “What use is this thing? Is it even valuable?” The brown wooden talisman was unremarkable, with the character “Zhen” on it appearing so faded from years of wear that it was barely visible. Someone might not even pick it up if left on the roadside. Yet, Su Che believed that since it was the door to the treasury of this immortal mansion, it must have some use. At the very least, it meant that he, Lao Hei, and the Snake Woman would be helpless against it. “Then I’ll keep it.” Su Che casually put it into his Qiankun Bag, not even sending it to the Immortal Prison—clearly, he still didn’t take it very seriously. “This reward really is a loss.” Feeling regretful, Su Che was about to leave when, after taking just a couple of steps, he saw an object fall from the sky and plunge into the white jade slab in the ground with a thud. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a dark-colored one-handed battle axe, with a thick back and wide blade, its design simple and primitive—clearly in the style of the Witch Clan’s craftsmanship. “A Witch Clan battle axe?” Su Che stepped forward and used all his strength to pull the axe out of the ground. The axe wasn’t large in size, but it was extremely heavy—about five to six thousand pounds. Relying solely on physical strength, Su Che definitely couldn’t lift it; he had to use his internal energy to do so. “Could this be the reward they gave me?” Su Che guessed. “Last time, I had to soak in that gray liquid, probably to enhance the Witch Clan’s transformation abilities; this time, it’s a battle axe, giving a Witch their proper weapon…” Witch Clan weapons could also change size to suit transformation needs, but they weren’t magical treasures—just weapons. Apart from their indestructible and extremely sturdy nature, they generally didn’t have any other special functions. Yet, just the fact that they were indestructible was already very valuable. Su Che felt slightly relieved, which somewhat compensated for his earlier disappointment. “At certain moments, a weapon like this might play a crucial role.”
Just now, he stored the Battle Axe in the Netherworld, and at the same time received the third map sent by ‘it’. It seems that the young shaman’s journey of trials must continue.
However, Su Che doesn’t want to continue, nor dares he go on any further!
