Chapter 6: The First Domain Unlocked

Seeing the line of text that suddenly appeared in front of him, Ye Feng felt puzzled. “Domain value? What is that?”
No response came. The line of text remained floating in front of him like a three-dimensional computer image.
“This suddenly appearing text must be related to the jade glowing. If I want to uncover this mystery, it seems I have no choice but to try. If my guess is wrong, I’ll just lose twenty yuan. But if I miss this chance, I might never solve this puzzle.” After hesitating for a while, Ye Feng ultimately chose to proceed.
At that moment, he saw something even more incomprehensible—a gold coin floating in the air.
“This gold coin…” Ye Feng stared in shock at what he saw before finally realizing it was the one Liu Hai had given him and which he had kept in his inner pocket.
The gold coin floated to eye level with his head, and the intricate patterns on it began to move. Meanwhile, the jade in his right hand disappeared.
Under normal circumstances, such a sight would have scared anyone away, but Ye Feng wasn’t afraid at all; instead, he felt a strange sense of familiarity.
He couldn’t help but reach out and touch it, and the gold coin ended up in his palm.
“Virtual domain activated. Host gains Level 1 permissions…”
“Level 2 domain value cannot be used. Automatically downgraded to Level 1. 0.2 points of Level 2 domain value; automatically downgraded to 200 points of Level 1 domain value.”
Suddenly, a scene similar to that of an online game appeared before Ye Feng’s eyes. At the bottom right of the screen were several large characters: Domain Value: 200.
In the center of the screen was a weathered ancient gate, entwined with vines and covered in moss, clearly untouched for a long time.
“What could be behind this gate?” As this question arose in Ye Feng’s mind, a dialog box appeared: Do you want to open the first layer of the virtual domain—The Human Realm?
This time, Ye Feng didn’t hesitate and chose yes.
The heavy gate was slowly pushed open by an invisible force, and Ye Feng was stunned by what he saw beyond it.
Unlike the heavy, simple atmosphere of the outer gate, this place was a vast expanse of white, filled with neatly arranged white shelves. On these shelves were various goods neatly arranged, resembling a giant supermarket.

It was just that this supermarket seemed endless, with no end in sight…
“Who opened this supermarket?” Ye Feng couldn’t help but mutter to himself.
“This is the first layer of the Void Realm, the Human Realm!” A young child’s voice suddenly came from not far away.
Ye Feng turned around in surprise; he hadn’t expected there to be anyone here.
“Kid, how did you get in?” What surprised Ye Feng even more was that the one who spoke was a little boy who seemed to be only five or six years old.
The boy was less than a meter tall but wore a neat suit with a bow at the collar. With his hands in his pockets, he tilted his head slightly as he sized up Ye Feng.
After a while, he answered Ye Feng’s question, “I’m the guardian of the first realm. You can call me Boy.”
“Guardian? Do you mean you’ve been here the whole time?” Ye Feng asked curiously.
“It’s not entirely accurate, but you can think of it that way,” Boy replied, his expression still cold.
“Then can you tell me what this place actually is?” Ye Feng’s doubts remained unsolved.
“This is the first layer of the Void Realm, the Human Realm…” After saying that, Boy glanced at Ye Feng. Seeing that he didn’t seem satisfied with his answer, he continued, “You don’t need to worry about what this place is. You can think of it as a trading platform, with Realm Points as the currency. Use Realm Points to buy whatever you want. That’s simple. As for what you want to buy and how to use it after buying, that’s not within my jurisdiction.”
“So what exactly is this Void Realm you mentioned?” Although Ye Feng guessed he might not get an answer to this question, he still couldn’t help asking.
“I’m sorry, I can’t answer that question. When you truly gain ownership of the Void Realm, you’ll naturally understand what it is. For now, just think of it as a trading platform!” Boy shook his head helplessly.
“In other words, the gold coin in my hand is actually the Void Realm. Uncle Liu held the gold coin for so many years without being able to open the Void Realm. Why could I do it when I got it? Could opening the Void Realm have some special requirements?” Ye Feng still had many doubts. He couldn’t figure out what about him the Void Realm found attractive.

“It’s due to your physical constitution. After being scanned by the Void Realm, your constitution meets its requirements, so the moment you came into contact with it, you were granted Level 1 access. The Void Realm selects its masters automatically! The person you mentioned might have heard of the Void Realm’s secrets, but his constitution doesn’t meet the standards!” Boy continued to explain.
“Can I take things from here to the real world?” Ye Feng asked his first question.
“Yes! As long as you can pay the corresponding domain value, you can take them!”
“What’s different about the items bought here compared to those outside?” Ye Feng asked further.
“Everything in your universe is available here for sale, including nuclear bombs, aircraft carriers, people, and even planets… Even things you imagine that don’t exist in reality—so long as you have the right access and enough domain value, you can get them.” Boy’s words were clearly very tempting.
“I want to know how to obtain domain value,” Ye Feng immediately focused on the key point.
“There are many ways to obtain domain value. I can tell you the main ones; the rest will require you to figure them out on your own:
The first is, as you know, exchanging things. But the Void Realm only accepts objects with energy.
The second is exchanging souls. The souls of the creatures you kill are absorbed by the Void Realm. The greater the good or evil value, the more domain value their souls can exchange for…”
“It seems that for now, I can only choose the first option!” Ye Feng seemed quite helpless.
“As you wish. But from what I know, the fastest method is the second one. If a person has enough evil value, killing them might allow you to obtain millions of domain points at once.” Boy wore a strange smile.
“That much?” Ye Feng found it unbelievable.
“Evil value comes from others’ hatred. A little hatred adds a little evil value, and a little evil value can be exchanged for a little domain value. If a person is hated by millions, killing them could earn you millions of domain values.” Boy explained in great detail. “The same goes for contribution value—you might try killing someone who is thanked by millions.”
“Just tell me about the other methods! I’m not considering this way for now!” Ye Feng frowned slightly. He hadn’t expected a child to talk about obtaining domain value by killing people.

“There’s one more thing I can tell you: one point of first-level domain value can be exchanged for one thousand US dollars. But currency cannot be exchanged for domain value! As for anything else, just ask directly!” Boy’s gaze toward Ye Feng finally showed some change—less icy than before, as if something more was present.
“I want to know what the difference is between first-level and second-level domain value. Does this so-called Virtual Realm have many layers?” Ye Feng raised his question again.
“One point of second-level domain value can be exchanged for one thousand points of first-level domain value. The Virtual Realm indeed has many layers, but there are some things I can’t tell you; you’ll have to explore them on your own. All I can tell you is that you currently only have first-level access. No matter how much domain value you acquire, you can only buy first-level items, unless you gain second-level access. To get good items, both access and domain value are essential!” Boy offered helpful guidance.
“Thank you. Can I know how to improve my access level?” Although Ye Feng already guessed this question might not get an answer, he still wanted to ask.
“Use your brain. Think of it as a game and learn to enjoy it. It’s not some crucial secret, but don’t you think it would be more meaningful if you explored it yourself?” Boy didn’t answer this question.
“If domain values of different levels can be exchanged, does that mean many first-level items are more expensive than second-level items? For example, if a first-level weapon requires one million points of first-level domain value, is it possible its destructive power is greater than that of a weapon with only one thousand points of second-level domain value?” Ye Feng suddenly thought of this.
“That’s possible too. But for first-level items, if you don’t have enough domain value, you won’t be able to see them. You currently have two hundred points of first-level domain value, so you can only see all first-level items worth less than one thousand points. If you have one thousand points of domain value, you can see all items worth less than ten thousand points,” Boy explained.
“In other words, you can’t see items beyond a certain domain value level? One to nine, ten to ninety-nine, one hundred to nine hundred and ninety-nine… Only by having domain value of the same order of magnitude can you see corresponding items. So that’s why you just said access and domain value are both essential.” Ye Feng immediately understood. “Does that mean all the items I see here are first-level items worth less than one thousand points?”
“That’s right!” Boy nodded with a smile.

“Oh, right. What’s with the yellow light on that piece of jade? It must be because of the Virtual Realm that I can see it, right?” Ye Feng then remembered the scene he had seen at the antique market before.
“That’s a capability that arises after the Virtual Realm recognizes its master—used to determine the quality of items! This additional function becomes available once it’s recognized. Since you’re a first-tier Realm Master, you can see second-tier items emitting yellow light. The brighter the yellow light, the better the luster, indicating higher quality of the item! This ability is triggered passively; only items beyond your authority will show different colors.” Boy explained in great detail.
“That’s pretty much all I wanted to know for now.” Ye Feng thought for a moment. He had basically understood everything he wanted to ask, and all that was left now was to put it into practice.
“Since that’s the case, do you plan to leave or buy some items?” Boy looked at Ye Feng with anticipation.
“I plan to buy those other pieces of jade and convert them all into Realm Points. That should add up to over a thousand Realm Points. Then I’ll be able to see all items below ten thousand Realm Points. That way, there will be many more options available.” Ye Feng flashed a sly smile.
“So you’re choosing to leave?” Although Boy tried to hide it well, a hint of disappointment flashed in his eyes.
“Boy, can I take you with me?” Ye Feng crouched down and gave Boy a kind smile.
“No…” Upon hearing this, a strange look flashed in Boy’s eyes, but it quickly turned dull as he shook his head in disappointment.
“I see. Then I’ll make sure to visit you more often in the future. It’s no wonder a child staying alone in such a place would have a bit of a strange personality…” Ye Feng touched his nose.
Boy just glared at Ye Feng helplessly without saying anything.
“Well, I’m leaving this damned place now…” Ye Feng waved at Boy.
“Wait, there’s one more thing I forgot to tell you…” Just as Ye Feng was about to leave, Boy suddenly called out…
