Chapter 24: The Power of the Flying Dagger

Although the Third Chief wasn’t distracted by Gan Daniu and the others as Happy had expected, the group at Black Wind Fort was split in two, greatly increasing the chances of a rescue.
Happy was secretly pleased and prepared to turn back to help Gan Daniu and the others take care of those seven thugs!
Though these bandits were quite combat-effective and could be as fierce as hooligans, the “Willow Leaf Flying Dagger” was different from ordinary martial arts. Developed at great expense of money and time, it far surpassed regular martial skills in terms of lethality and stealth, even allowing for a fatal strike before combat began.
As long as the flying dagger hit a vital spot, it could take a life before the enemy could get close!
This was also why Happy was willing to spend days practicing the flying dagger—often, it could achieve results that other martial arts couldn’t.
All those nearly three thousand taels of silver hadn’t been wasted!
As soon as the Third Chief left, Happy prepared to re-enter the forest, but the sudden sound of a speeding carriage behind him, along with the Third Chief’s shouts, made him stop abruptly:
“Hurry up! Just ahead are our outer sentries. Once we get there, hand over the women to them to take back to the fort. We’ll avenge the four-legged ones later!”
“Yes, Third Chief!”
“You little brat, get in the carriage now, hear me?”
Peering through the bushes, Happy saw two bandits forcing several captured women onto a carriage, ready to rush back to Black Wind Fort. His brows immediately furrowed in anger.
Ignoring the need to protect Gan Daniu and the others, he quietly drew a Willow Leaf Flying Dagger from his waist…
Swish!
With a flick of his hand, the dagger flew through the air.
Timing was perfect—while the two bandits were busy driving the women away and their comrades were still out chasing the killer, unalert, the flying dagger struck again, piercing the back of one of them.
“One bandit eliminated. Heroism points increased by 20, reputation by 10!”
System notification.
“Damn it!”
Hearing the noise, the Third Chief realized something was wrong. Turning around, he saw one of his remaining two brothers fall as well, filling him with rage. Ignoring everything else, he leaped high like a bird, gaining a vantage point from which he spotted the young man in blue hiding behind the bushes, striking from behind.
“You kid, die!”
It was such a young rival who had killed two of his brothers!

The ferociously ugly Third Camp Leader was utterly enraged, feeling the humiliation of being tricked. Grasping his axe, he roared loudly into the air! The gleaming giant axe descended like a force capable of splitting mountains.

“Stupid.”

Kai Xin had originally planned to dodge the Third Camp Leader’s fierce attacks, but when he saw that the opponent could even fly, with no way to gain leverage around him, he abandoned the idea of retreating and a strange smile appeared on his lips.

Calmly, he swept his hand toward his waist!

With extreme skill, the third willow leaf dagger seemed to have eyes of its own as it flew along the Third Camp Leader’s mighty axe head…

Seeing the dagger rushing toward him, the Third Camp Leader couldn’t react in time. He turned his head, avoiding the deadly strike to his face, but still suffered a clear cut on his cheek. In panic, his body lost balance in mid-air!

Kai Xin naturally wouldn’t miss such a good opportunity. With a graceful spin, he moved even faster—another willow leaf dagger seemingly appeared out of thin air from his waist…

This time, the unbalanced Third Camp Leader couldn’t dodge again. A sharp pain hit his back as the dagger pierced his thigh. He tumbled to the ground like a kite with its string cut, falling in a humiliating manner. Even the bandit staying by the carriage was shocked.

Having finally seized such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, how could Kai Xin let it slip away? Focusing his mind, he threw two willow leaf daggers at once.

Thwack! Thwack!

But the Third Camp Leader rolled aside immediately, having anticipated this and used his axe to shatter the daggers. Supporting himself on his wounded leg, he quickly stood up.

“…”

Kai Xin thought to himself, “What a pity.”

If he had received just one more strike, this battle would have had no suspense left.

“One more strike would have done it…”

But it was fine as it was. The flaw exposed by the Third Camp Leader’s anger made it harder for him to move, which was excellent news for Kai Xin, who had been at a severe disadvantage earlier.

“Who are you?”
The Third Camp Leader stared at the young man in blue with regret and murderous intent. The contempt in his eyes had vanished, replaced by grave seriousness. He could sense a hint of danger from the young man!

“I’m Kai Xin, a disciple of the Murong family from Gusu City. Today, I’m here by my master’s orders to destroy the Black Wind Camp!” Kai Xin spoke calmly. His gentleman’s sword emerged with a sharp sound, pointing at the Third Camp Leader, as a faint aura spread quietly through the forest.

“…” Hearing this, the Third Camp Leader’s face took on a strange expression.

After sizing him up, if it weren’t for the enemy’s flying knives still stuck in his legs, he would have long been crouched by the road, laughing heartily: A mere greenhorn daring to boast about destroying Hei Feng Zhai all by himself… Didn’t he know that the one in charge of Hei Feng Zhai was a renowned expert at the Creation Realm in the martial world—“The Parting Black Tiger”! Still… The name Murong family indeed made him not underestimate them. After all, their power was not something a small place like Hei Feng Zhai could afford to provoke. Of course! If even a disciple of the Murong family dared to disregard Hei Feng Zhai, then perhaps he had no choice but to keep them around—after all, this was just a desolate wilderness… The third chief’s eyes flickered. “Kid, you’re quite bold! You claim to be a disciple of the Murong family, but that’s no proof! Call someone from the Murong family here!” Happy certainly knew what kind of scheme the other party was up to. He silently used his Full Heart Technique to restore his lost internal energy while saying, “Hmph, don’t worry. There’s only me here, and that’s enough to deal with you all…” “Arrogant!” Before he could finish speaking, the third chief showed a fierce expression. Ignoring the pain in his legs, he rushed forward seven or eight meters in quick strides: “Coming to my Hei Feng Zhai all by yourself! I’ll make sure you can’t leave!!” Whoosh! Another flying knife was shot out. But this time, the third chief was clearly prepared. He effortlessly deflected the willow-leaf flying knife and continued charging at full speed toward Happy. Before he even reached him, his imposing aura was already there! The strong wind generated by this peak expert sent Happy’s blue robe fluttering violently, but he seemed unfazed, standing firm against the wind, seemingly unaware of the murderous intent in the other’s eyes. His Gentleman Sword was slowly raised in front of his chest to meet the other’s axe, which carried the weight of thunder. A young bird is indeed just a young bird… Using sword techniques against an axe—seeking death! A chilling smirk appeared on the third chief’s lips.
