Volume 4: The Revelation Unveiled – Chapters 478: The Art of Leaving the Universe

Not only was Wukong astonished, but even Guanyin, upon seeing this art of creating realms, could not help but feel dizzy and disoriented.
Wukong glanced at Guanyin, sensing something unusual. The Yin-Yang Divine Ape could create ten realms with a wave of its hand—such a skill, no matter how formidable, should not cause such turmoil in Guanyin’s mind. So he asked, “Great Lady, is there something wrong?”
Guanyin spoke, her voice slightly trembling, “Have you ever heard of the Cakravartin?”
Wukong first shook his head in confusion, but then began to ponder. Cakravartin? He had indeed never heard this name before, yet upon reflection, it seemed familiar. Could it be that his past life—Bodhisattva Nagarjuna—had heard of it? With this thought, Wukong once again resolved to seek out Dragon Girl. She was like a key that could unlock the memories of his past life. To fully awaken, he must overcome Bodhisattva Nagarjuna’s challenge. Memories always came from the near to the far; only by recalling Nagarjuna’s life could he remember the first life of the Divine Ape.
Guanyin turned to Yin-Yang and asked, “Cakravartin, you must have heard of him, right?”
The Yin-Yang Divine Ape nodded. “The Cakravartin is the supreme king among all Buddhas. How could I not know him?”
Guanyin continued, “Then do you know what extraordinary traits the Cakravartin possesses?”
The Yin-Yang Divine Ape replied, “I have also read about these in the scriptures. The Cakravartin possesses seven treasures and four divine powers.”
Guanyin nodded. “Exactly! When the Tathagata sent you to the Eastern Land to fetch the scriptures, he told the Buddhas in the Western Heaven that the Cakravartin has four virtues: First, the virtue of wealth—abundant treasures, houses, servants, pearls, and jade, as well as countless elephants and horses. No one in the world can compare to him. Second, the virtue of appearance—his face is perfect and extremely handsome; wherever he goes, everyone is moved. No one in the world can compare to him. Third, the virtue of power—his divine powers are immense; he can create clouds with a flip of his hand and rain with another, and alone he can create ten entire worlds. No one in the world can compare to him. Fourth, the virtue of longevity—he is free from illness and lives forever, sharing life and death with heaven and earth. No one in the world can compare to him.”
The Yin-Yang Divine Ape said, “I know all this, but what does it have to do with me?”
Guanyin replied, “The Tathagata also said that the monk Tang Seng from the Eastern Land already possesses two of these four virtues: the virtue of appearance and the virtue of longevity.”
Wukong suddenly understood and asked, “Great Lady Guanyin, are you saying that Yin-Yang now possesses the third virtue as well—the virtue of power?”
Guanyin said, “Exactly! He can create ten entire worlds alone—no one in the world can compare to him. Isn’t that also the virtue of power?”
Yin-Yang replied nonchalantly, “Then there are only three virtues after all.”

Guanyin smiled and said, “Don’t deceive yourself. Though wealth and virtue rank first among virtues, they are the easiest to obtain. With your current cultivation and status, aren’t all things in the world at your disposal?”
Wukong was inwardly shocked. Possessing all four virtues? Did that mean the Yin-Yang Divine Ape was already very close to becoming the Wheel King? Judging from Guanyin’s reaction, this Wheel King must be extremely formidable—otherwise, how could he hold such a supreme status in Buddhist scriptures?
But as he thought this, Wukong grew skeptical. Logically, the Wheel King was the king of kings, holding a status akin to that of the supreme being of heaven and earth. If the Yin-Yang Divine Ape were the Wheel King, then what kind of existence would his own Spiritwise Divine Ape, which stood above the Yin-Yang Divine Ape, be?
Just then, the Yin-Yang Divine Ape said, “What’s this so-called Wheel King? What does it have to do with me? You say wealth and virtue are easily obtained, but I refuse to take even a single bit of it. I’ll just live freely as my Yin-Yang Divine Ape!”
Guanyin was taken aback, then smiled and said, “I’m afraid you won’t be able to choose then.”
The Yin-Yang Divine Ape simply ignored Guanyin and said to Wukong, “I have nothing more to do with the Buddhist sect.”
As he spoke, the Yin-Yang being forgot that he had Tang Seng’s appearance. Wukong, looking at his bald head, said seriously, “That’s right, no more ties!”
Guanyin was slightly disappointed and shook her head.
Wukong said, “Trapping you for ten lifetimes was done by the Tathagata, and it has little to do with Buddhism or Taoism.”
The Yin-Yang being thought for a moment and said, “How could I not know this? But with so much resentment accumulated, how can I forget it all at once?”
He waved his hand, asking Wukong to put aside this matter for now. He reverted to his ape form, looked down, and saw many people around the ruined city. He said, “So many people gathered around that ruined city—what are they doing? Huh, Laojun is here too?”
Wukong replied, “There are thirty-six thousand-zhang-long jade pillars in this city. I want to take them to enhance my five brothers’ powers. But the strange beasts in the city are truly difficult to subdue. That’s why I’m trying to come up with a plan!”
“Strange beasts? How many? Even the king of beasts, the qilin, can’t control them?”
Wukong shook his head and said, “Ancient strange beasts—the Kai Ming beasts. There are thousands, maybe tens of thousands of them. The qilin… has already returned defeated!”
The Yin-Yang being suddenly fell into deep thought, murmuring, “Kai Ming beasts, Kai Ming beasts…” After muttering a few times, it seemed he remembered something. Then he looked up and said, “I’ll give it a try!”
Seeing the unusual expression on the Yin-Yang Divine Ape’s face, Wukong asked, “Do you know these monsters?”
The Yin-Yang being smiled and said, “I doubt I’m wrong. The Kai Ming beasts are unafraid of the power of fate. But what about him?”
“That’s right!” Wukong was overjoyed. The Yin-Yang being must have remembered something and mentioned the innate powers of the Kai Ming beasts. It seemed there really might be a way to subdue them.

Yin and Yang descended, walking step by step toward Zengcheng like a child. Wukong and Guanyin also returned to the crowd. Laojun asked worriedly, “Will it work?”
Wukong replied, “Monks do not lie. It will work!”
“Monks? Which one is a monk?” Laojun was confused. Wukong smiled secretly but did not answer him.
Yin and Yang continued on their own toward the nine-story Zengcheng. Though small and thin, they hopped along as if playing, showing no fear at all.
The gates of Zengcheng were wide open, and many Mingming beasts poked their heads out. From afar, Wukong could see clearly that these beasts looked puzzled when they saw the Yin and Yang Divine Apes. Strange—Mingming beasts were either dull or angry; they had never shown such expressions before. Perhaps it was because Yin and Yang hadn’t entered the city yet?
Finally, the Yin and Yang Divine Apes reached the city gates. They glanced inside first, then dashed in with a flash.
Wukong, Xuan Nu, and the others thought the Mingming beasts would let out a thunderous roar next moment, but after waiting a while, not a sound was heard. The figures of the Yin and Yang Divine Apes had disappeared inside Zengcheng.
What surprised Wukong even more was that another Yin and Yang Divine Ape appeared outside the city, hopping toward the gates. He rubbed his eyes—what was going on?
He glanced at Xuan Nu, who also looked puzzled. Despite possessing the secrets of the Xuan Kong Art, neither of them had noticed when Yin and Yang had escaped from the city. The rest of the crowd also exchanged confused looks; clearly, everyone had seen the same thing.
As the Yin and Yang Divine Ape entered the city again, another one appeared out of nowhere outside, hopping into Zengcheng just like the previous ones.
It was as if the scene kept replaying over and over. The people watched as ten Yin and Yang Divine Apes entered the city before they finally disappeared.
After a while, Yin and Yang leaped out of the city, shouting, “Are they the thirty-six pieces?”
Had Yin and Yang succeeded? Wukong shouted urgently, “That’s right—exactly the thirty-six pieces!”
Yin and Yang quickly approached, took out a small thousand-zhang jade from their bosom, placed it on the ground, and it instantly grew to a height of a thousand zhang. They asked Wukong, “Is this the thing?”
Wukong replied joyfully, “Exactly!”
Yin and Yang put the jade away and said, “It took a lot of effort. I didn’t expect it to be so heavy.”
Laojun stepped forward and asked, “Thirty-six thousand-zhang jades—did you carry them all by yourself?”
The Yin and Yang Divine Ape replied, “Did you think you helped?”
Laojun was embarrassed and snapped, “Hmph! If I could get in, there would be no need for you!”

Xuan Nu looked full of anticipation and asked the Yin-Yang Divine Ape, “Was that mysterious technique just now the ‘Out-of-Universe Art’?”
“Huh?” Yin-Yang was quite surprised. “Someone actually noticed that.”
Hearing the mention of the Out-of-Universe Art, Wukong immediately understood why the Kai Ming Beasts had appeared confused—they couldn’t see Yin and Yang entering the city at all. The so-called Out-of-Universe Art was actually a technique to manipulate time.
This art was similar to Hou Yi’s Time Arrows, but the Time Arrows only slowed down the flow of time to appear frozen, when in reality they weren’t. What Yin and Yang had used just now was the true Out-of-Universe Art. No wonder everyone saw Yin and Yang enter the city ten times—what they saw wasn’t an illusion; it was simply because Yin and Yang and they were not in the same time period.
This wasn’t deception—it was a genuine, powerful art!
Wukong was stunned in silence. He still hadn’t fully grasped the ways of the universe, while Yin and Yang had already mastered those of the cosmos. They were far stronger than him. Kunpeng, you really treated the Yin-Yang Divine Ape well!
Wukong touched the two Peach Fruits in his bosom, already thinking about when he could eat them—they would surely elevate his cultivation further.
At that moment, a thunderous noise came from inside the city. Then Lu Wu leaped out alone, pointing at the crowd and shouting, “You thieves! How did you steal my Thousand-Foot Jade?”
Before anyone could respond, Qilin, unable to hold back any longer, soared up and roared, “You cowardly turtle! I’ll kill you first!” Qilin had suffered losses in Zeng City and was seething with anger—this was the perfect chance for revenge.
Seeing Qilin charging at him, Lu Wu hurriedly retreated and started cursing from inside the city. Qilin pursued him relentlessly, shouting back from outside. In any case, the Thousand-Foot Jade was now in their hands. The Kai Ming Beasts didn’t dare leave the city either—how could Qilin fear them? Even if they couldn’t hurt anyone, shouting at them would at least relieve their anger!
After shouting for a while, Lu Wu realized he had suffered a definite loss. Although the Kai Ming Beasts had special abilities, they had been trained only to defend the city. If they were to be used in battle, training from scratch would be necessary. So he endured his humiliation, closed the city gates, and began planning how to train the Kai Ming Beasts for future use.
This trip to Kunlun Immortal Island was truly a complete success. All thirty-six pieces of Thousand-Foot Jade were obtained without loss. With the Heavenly Court destroyed and Buddha too scared to show up again, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva leading an army to take back the netherworld was almost certain to succeed. From then on, it seemed as though only Qitian Ridge reigned supreme in the world.
