Chapter 723: The Triple Kingdoms
But most of them perished early, either killed in the mutual slaughter among their siblings or due to the extreme harsh conditions of the Abyss. Only a very small number eventually became demon lords.
Later scholars and researchers of demon evolution tried to deduce who their fathers might be by examining the appearance of the Mother of Demons’ descendants, but this only led to greater confusion and uncertainty.
For these descendants of the Mother of Demons varied greatly in both appearance and abilities, suggesting that they might not all share the same father.
For example, the Lord of Laziness, Lupucio, had black skin and a shapeshifting body wrapped in black smoke; Fokarik had a human appearance, but his true face was hidden beneath iron chains that encircled him; Lady Corpse, Jeffergian, had three heads; while the Queen of Shadows, Rexsali, had no physical body at all.
Yet among the many offspring born after chaos, only two possessed the strength to rule over the Abyss. They were the Destroyer Lord, Oustasius, and the Fallen Prince—the true rulers of the Abyss.
Although the Destroyer Lord was the Mother of Demons’ most powerful creation, she considered him a failure. To gain immense power, Cangye sacrificed her soul to the will of destruction, causing Oustasius to fall into a frenzied state of destruction from birth, seeking to annihilate everything in his path, including his own “mother,” Cangye.
This made the descendants of chaos, who prided themselves on wisdom, detest this most powerful offspring. If not for Oustasius’ overwhelming strength—so great that even Cangye found it difficult to seal or kill him—the Mother of Demons would have long discarded this failed creation.
Excluding Oustasius, the emergence of Grant, the embodiment of corruption, was the Mother of Demons’ most satisfactory creation and child.
Though Grant’s strength was somewhat lacking at first, he grew rapidly, rising from a lower god to a mid-tier god in no time. Unfortunately, time ran out before Cangye could see her child become a demon lord. The final war between gods and demons had already reached her realm.
By then, Grant still wasn’t qualified to compete for power in the Abyss.
It was not until the fall or disappearance of the Mother of Demons and the silence of the remaining ancient demonic forces that Grant was able to rise to power, establishing the Triple Kingdoms—the only united realm in the Abyss. Alongside the Destroyer Monarch Ostasius and the Immortal Lord Oscar, he became one of the three paramount figures holding supreme authority in the Abyss.
Among the many powerful beings in the multiverse, there are rumors about Grant: he is said to possess three times the cunning and scheming of other demon lords due to his control over the Triple Kingdoms. While this claim may not be entirely true, Grant is undoubtedly one of the most far-sighted demons in the Bottomless Abyss. The Fallen Monarch has thus earned a well-known nickname: the demon who least resembles a demon.
Now, two powerful demons, Asas and Tanobos, have secretly infiltrated Grant’s Triple Kingdoms. Yes, infiltrated. Through the senses of the River of Darkness, Donald observed their covert actions clearly. Returning to his father’s realm, the Fallen Prince sneaked in stealthily, even bringing an outsider with him. If there were no hidden schemes here, even the crude orcs would not believe it.
Grant’s Triple Kingdoms occupy layers 45, 46, and 47 of the Bottomless Abyss. The capital of the Fallen Monarch, Zerata, spans these layers and consists of three parts, each located within one of the Triple Realms. The famous Silver Palace of the multiverse also spans these three parts. This is the core region of Grant’s vast empire, crucial for maintaining stability across the entire domain.
If Grant lost the Silver Palace, it would almost mean the Fallen Monarch lost control over these three layers. Although some demon lords may have significant influence in layers near or outside their own domains—such as Ostasius or Pazuzu, the ruler of the lower skies of Pazunia who has no fixed domain—Grant is the only demon lord who possesses three interconnected realms.
In terms of territory size, perhaps only the Vast Plains, governed jointly by the powerful goddesses Eilien, the Goddess of Agriculture; Mekelly, the Goddess of Forests; and Alois, the God of Love and Dreams—this largest realm in the heavens and the area with the most true god kingdoms within the neutral divine territories—can compare to the Triple Kingdoms.
At this moment, Asas, along with the immortal demon Tanobos, has infiltrated one of the six most important regions of the Silver Palace: the Tower of Ten Thousand Doors.
As one of the six most important among the sixty-six ivory towers within the White Palace, the Tower of a Thousand Gates is home to numerous portals that allow access to various depths and other locations in the multiverse. It is a heavily fortified key stronghold in the Grant Kingdom.
Speaking of Grant’s Silver Palace, it is undoubtedly one of the most impregnable fortresses in the entire multiverse. From afar, one can see large numbers of Flo demons patrolling the skies, while countless monsters guard the underground areas. The palace itself is crafted from white stones taken from Heaven Mountain by the Fallen Monarch. It is said that to obtain these stones, Grant deceived entire cities of Celestial Apostles, forcing them to enter the heavenly mines to dig for the white stones, only to unknowingly transport them to the Bottomless Abyss. If it were Grant’s own demons, they would likely be annihilated by countless celestial creatures even before reaching Heaven Mountain.
Most of those living in the Silver Palace are fallen creatures lured by the Fallen Monarch, as well as those who have not yet succumbed to corruption and are imprisoned by Grant. Demonic creatures, on the other hand, can only serve as guards, which reflects the preferences of the Fallen Monarch.
As the Fallen Monarch’s most favored son, the fallen prince Yasas has the right to travel freely in most areas of the White Palace, including the Tower of a Thousand Gates. Although the Tower of a Thousand Gates is one of the six major regions, as a portal between dimensions, it can be sealed to prevent intruders, so its internal defenses are not as stringent as those of the other five regions. It only guards against spies or slaves attempting to escape the Triple Kingdoms through it, without putting up defenses against high-ranking officials of the Fallen Monarch.
Therefore, if Yasas wants to travel to other dimensions through this place, he only needs to make a record with the guards, without having to go through the prior application and approval process required by other beings. However, this time Yasas is not coming alone, making it somewhat difficult to pass through the guards of the Tower of a Thousand Gates.
