Volume 34: The Hunting Ground of Divine Abominations
Chapter 678: The Deal with the Time Dragon
The moment the two strongest Faeani escaped, Loki, the supreme god, utilized the power of doomsday to break free from the constraints of time itself and emerge from its frozen state.
“Time power is truly formidable. Even though I am far stronger than them, I still face restrictions without preparation! Donald, you really surprised me—Order indeed ranks as one of the fundamental laws alongside time!”
Donald not only possessed time power but also held Order as his primary divine authority. This was a powerful realm, ranking among the four fundamental laws of the multiverse alongside time. It was no problem for him to escape the Faeani’s time-based abilities and counterattack.
Yet even with control over Order, falling into a time trap still required some time to escape. Though brief, this gave the Faeani a chance, which is why Donald chose to use his own time-domain power to avoid their time-stop effect—with very satisfactory results.
Hearing Loki’s remarks, Donald smiled without saying much. He had reaped great gains this time. Just those dozen or so Faeani were already of immense value.
The greatest reward was the ability to extract their divine essence related to time, thereby gaining more power in the time domain!
Although Donald had decided to follow the path of Order, he had no objection to acquiring more supreme powers—after all, these were the fundamental laws that could lead to becoming a supreme god!
Even if he didn’t use them himself, they could be crafted into divine artifacts for the time domain or given to those he cared about—both excellent options.
The Faeani weren’t the highest-ranked among divine abominations, but they were among the oldest and most powerful ancient abominations, with a danger level second only to beings like the Hundred-Armed Giants!
A group of Faeani, at most at the demi-god level, were suppressed within a powerful supreme god kingdom like the Land of Truth. How could there be any freedom there? Without Donald intervening, they couldn’t move at all. Only that single demi-god Faeani could move, but it was also heavily restrained, unable to use any of its abilities, and couldn’t even travel several miles on foot.
It was only through close observation of Donald that he realized this. These creatures were formed from mist, with cheetah-like lower bodies, human-shaped torsos, arms, and heads. Ripples formed in the air around them, and although they moved with feline grace, it seemed they struggled to maintain their cohesion.
As semi-ethereal beings, they had advantages such as immunity to physical attacks, but once these advantages were countered, they became less convenient than ordinary creatures. At least if human demigods were taken to a divine realm, they could travel far distances unless their masters actively suppressed or sealed them. In smaller divine realms, they might even break through the dimensional barriers and escape!
On the other hand, these Feani, who usually relied on their own ethereal advantages, had their ability to traverse time gaps restricted when the surrounding rules were limited. With nothing but their ethereal forms, they lacked any offensive power.
Under normal circumstances, these divine abominations were indeed difficult to kill, especially since they possessed the most powerful innate ability—time regression. As long as they weren’t completely erased from time, they could fully resurrect themselves through their past selves after being killed after some time.
This was also a very miraculous ability for true gods. It was hard to kill them, and it was impossible to capture them due to their ability to manipulate time; carelessness could lead to their escape. That’s why Feani were among the most powerful and troublesome divine abominations.
Just as Donald was about to catch one of the Feani to extract its divinity and gain control over the time domain, he suddenly changed expression. He stopped what he was doing and looked toward the distant meteorite nest.
As a higher god, Loki had naturally noticed the anomaly there earlier than Donald.
In the area where both Donald and Loki were staring, ripples suddenly appeared, and a strange and mysterious dragon appeared out of thin air.
This dragon had charcoal-gray scales tightly adhered to its body and a skeleton without a distinct spine, giving it a smooth appearance. Hourglass-shaped black scales covered its eyes like a mask, somewhat resembling the panda, a national treasure from Donald’s past life. Twelve irregularly distributed ring-shaped black scales radiated from its back like tree rings.
A spike similar to a sundial pointer extended from behind its skull, making its head appear twice as long.
Its pair of triangular wings stretched out from a narrow point on its back, giving it an overall shape resembling an inverted hourglass. Two protrusions of different lengths at the end of its tail gave it two tail tips.
Although its appearance was not brightly colored, the giant dragon as a whole possessed a beauty and sacred aura comparable to that of the quetzalcoatlus Donald had seen before. The gentle currents swirling around it gave one the sense of the mysterious cycle of the four seasons with just one glance.
Those were not mere air currents but the true power of time—power capable of making a young person instantly grow old with white hair, or reversing time to restore youth to an elderly person!
Donald immediately recognized the origin of this giant dragon: it was from the most powerful and mysterious dragon race in the multiverse—the Time Dragons!
“Do not attack. I mean no harm!”
Seeing the aura emanating from the supreme god across from him, the Time Dragon quickly sent its mental message through telepathy. That apocalyptic force, filled with countless signs of destruction and disaster, posed a great threat even to it, let alone to a great supreme god!
Donald gave Loki a look to calm him down, then turned to the Time Dragon and said slowly, “Would even a great Time Dragon resort to spying?”
Hearing the words of the true god, the Time Dragon, Qiaotelejiao, felt somewhat embarrassed. It chuckled awkwardly and replied, “Please forgive my rash appearance. I wasn’t trying to spy on you. I simply live nearby, and these Faeani are my prey, so I’ve been watching them, waiting for one to stray. I didn’t expect to catch them all at once today!”
At that moment, Thor, who was in a state of frozen time, suddenly burst free with intense lightning, breaking free from the constraints of time.
“Did I miss something?”
Upon regaining his freedom, Thor asked upon seeing the scene before him.
Loki sent him a thought, explaining what had happened earlier.
The reason they hadn’t intervened to help Thor counteract the time-stop effect was that allowing him to handle it on his own would bring many benefits. Besides becoming more familiar with the power of time, he wouldn’t be caught off guard if faced with such attacks in the future and could respond more effectively.
From the conversation between Donald and the Time Dragon, Qiaotelejiao, the three true gods also gained a general understanding of why this Time Dragon had appeared.
Feanis mostly exist in the ethereal seas of the star realms, but they can be found anywhere in the universe, moving from moment to moment while constantly hunting for prey. It’s incredibly lucky to encounter a Feanis in the vast expanse of the star realms!
However, this Time Dragon was clearly overly lucky—having discovered an entire nest of Feanis at once, which is a rare occurrence. Usually, these abominations tend to move alone or in groups of at most two or three; never has a group of Feanis been seen before.
Of course, this is also because the gods know very little about such abominations, and even their common knowledge isn’t entirely accurate.
For this Time Dragon, Qiaotuoleijiao, the group of Feanis before him resembled a giant cake hanging high in the air—tempting to eat but afraid of being crushed by it falling, and reluctant to leave despite that!
So Qiaotuoleijiao kept watching the group from afar, unyielding. Though he was only a lower-tier god, even higher-tier gods couldn’t do much to him. But against Feanis who also possessed time-manipulation abilities, he had few options. His previous ambush plans had been repeatedly seen through by the Feanis, and if he tried to attack head-on, they would outnumber him. With just one lower-tier Feanis and a demi-god Feanis distracting him, the rest could surround and attack him.
Although his exceptional physique and strength meant he wouldn’t die easily, Qiaotuoleijiao didn’t want to go through such suffering. If severely injured, it might not be him hunting the Feanis anymore—his roles as hunter and prey could easily reverse. After all, the Time Dragon’s time-related abilities were also a great boon to the Feanis. Being able to see them but not eat them had been an extreme torment for Qiaotuoleijiao over the years.
That’s why, after Donald captured those Feanis, he couldn’t help but appear, intending to exchange some of his collections for some Feanis.
“I see!”
After hearing Qiaotuoleijiao’s words, Donald nodded lightly, seemingly not very interested in the deal.
Seeing this, Qiaotuoleijiao grew anxious and immediately created a beam of light in front of him, containing dozens of items of various sizes, shapes, and colors. Unlike the dragons of the main world, who had an innate tendency to collect shiny objects, Time Dragons rarely bothered to enrich their collections of divine artifacts. But one thing was an exception—items related to time. Time Dragons would carefully protect every fragment in their collection, from an ordinary sundial to a beautifully crafted water clock or hourglass.
Upon taking a quick glance at the treasures spat out by the Time Dragon, Donald was filled with surprise, though he kept a calm expression. He knew that ordinary treasures were not significant collections for a Time Dragon that could freely travel through time. Indeed, over countless periods in time, Qiaotuoleijiao had accumulated many treasures, including several rare artifacts from different realms that were extremely precious even to true gods, but were merely decent collections for the Time Dragon with little practical use of their own. That’s why he could generously offer all his treasures for the other true god to choose from.
