Chapter 676: Mastering the Existence of the Past and Future
Flying unhindered through the void of the star realm, these several true gods could reach speeds over a hundred times that of the main world, covering thousands or even tens of thousands of miles in an instant. Moreover, as among the strongest true gods, Donald and Loki each had their own methods of movement—be it techniques or divine spells—enabling them to traverse vast distances in a single step.
For example, Thor, the God of Thunder, could transform into lightning and appear tens of thousands of miles away in an instant. Thanks to his innate speed advantage from lightning, Thor was the fastest among the three true gods.
However, the other two true gods were not far behind. Loki, who had just become the God of Doom, took a step that emitted an aura of destruction. Amidst the chaotic currents of doom, the void space of the star realm was instantly pierced, allowing him to appear right behind his brother Thor.
Donald’s embodiment of order also showed no weakness. His form suddenly became illusory, with countless line-like streaks of light flashing around him. He stood side by side with Loki, having traveled through the spatial structure using the laws of order, reaching their destination in an instant via these lines.
Traveling in this manner, even though their destination was deep within the star realm, they arrived there just a few days later!
“What’s the next step?” Thor asked anxiously after the three true gods stopped in a void.
Loki glanced at him and calmly took out a palm-sized crystal token, inputting divine power into it. Seeing this, Thor remembered his father’s instructions and realized his question was unnecessary, so he smiled sheepishly.
Donald also smiled and shook his head slightly. He could easily tell that although Loki seemed impatient, he was actually enjoying himself. Having a brother who could tolerate him and rely on him through life and death was truly enviable!
After inputting the divine power, the crystal token suddenly emitted a burst of starlight, conjuring a coordinate out of thin air—formed entirely of starlight. This starlight seemed perfectly suited to the environment of the star realm, allowing it to be projected over great distances with minimal energy consumption. Clearly, the other end was their target.
The three true gods said nothing more and headed straight for the coordinate’s direction. When they reached the first coordinate location, to their surprise, it was not the final destination but just a transit point. Once there, the previous coordinate disappeared, and the crystal token immediately generated the coordinates for the next location.
After seven such transitions, the three finally reached their destination.
Before them appeared a massive realm projection floating in the void, resembling a giant continent drifting in the starry realm. However, due to the special environment of the starry realm and its vast expanse, from afar it appeared merely as a faint glimmer of light. Had they not reached the last coordinate point, they would never have known such a large realm comparable to the main world existed here.
The bizarre realm seemed shrouded in an illusion, appearing highly unreal. This must be the realm barrier that required the power of two supreme gods to open, as mentioned earlier.
What caught Donald’s attention was that outside this realm, it wasn’t empty but filled with many irregular, honeycomb-shaped meteorites, resembling reefs emerging from the sea.
Smiling with interest, he said, “It seems we still face an obstacle if we want to enter this vast realm!”
What Donald saw, Loki and Thor, the two true gods, also saw. Right at the location of a reef along the straight line from them to the realm projection, there was a powerful yet hidden presence of living beings. Had Donald not pointed it out, even with Loki’s divine sense, it might have gone unnoticed.
“A creature that manipulates the laws of time? So this is a Faeani?”
Even the usually calm Loki couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise upon seeing the figure appearing tens of thousands of meters ahead.
“That’s right! It must be—”
There appeared a somewhat indistinct humanoid figure ahead, most of which didn’t resemble humans at all. Several pairs of emerald-green eyes burned brightly from within their shadows.
“I never expected there to be Faeani nests outside this realm. In the history of the multiverse, no one has ever discovered their nests. These little things are waiting for us to fall into their traps!” Donald said with a smirk.
Perceiving the implication in Donald’s words, Loki and the others also noticed something different about the void ahead, though they couldn’t identify any specific anomaly.
“This is a time trap. It looks like normal void on the outside, but its internal time flow is different from the outside world. Without power to break the laws of time, one will surely fall into the hands of these abominations and be at their mercy!”
Among the three true gods, only Donald had some knowledge of the laws of time. Otherwise, stepping recklessly into these abominations’ time traps would leave even supreme gods in a difficult situation to escape.
Legend has it that creatures like the Faini can drag their enemies into a field of stasis, temporarily isolating them from the outside world before attacking from outside the trap. Even if the enemy is too strong, they still have enough time to escape before breaking free from the stasis field. “A glance spanning ten thousand years” is no exaggeration when describing the Faini; those unable to control their time-based powers cannot see them at all and can only chase after the residual images they leave in the past. If Donald didn’t possess a certain level of mastery over time domains and a high-tier divine artifact, he would likely have been caught off guard by their ambush! “Let’s go!” Led by Donald, the three true gods bypassed those time traps and pretended to head toward the greater plane. Seeing their prey avoid the traps they had set, the Faini grew anxious. Highly intelligent, they knew this enemy was likely more formidable than previous ones. But being divine aberrations with relatively chaotic minds, they relied on their numbers and powerful innate abilities. Instead of retreating, they hid in the void and launched attacks on Donald and the other two true gods. Sensing a strange disturbance approaching, and thanks to Donald’s prior warning, the experienced true gods Loki and Thor also recognized it as the power of time laws. They immediately used their strongest forces to counter the Faini’s attacks. Although the power of time laws surpassed all the other law domains they controlled—even the laws of doom—time still held the upper hand, as doom represented the destruction and end of fate and time. It was a combination of several powerful laws, naturally subject to the control of time. Yet, on another level, the strength of a law depended on the power of the being controlling it. Thus, facing these attacks from time laws, Loki and Thor directly disrupted the rules to avoid being trapped. Whether it was Loki’s powers of doom or Thor’s mastery over the law of lightning, it wasn’t difficult for them to do so. Though Thor had just returned to the level of a newly ascended god, his realm and experience far exceeded those of ordinary true gods. With the Mjolnir, a peak-tier medium divine artifact, in his hands, as long as he avoided the Faini’s time traps, dealing with these ambushes was quite easy.
This is also because these three True Gods possess formidable strength and each has their own trump card. For other True Gods, just dealing with those invisible time traps would be enough to overwhelm them! Seeing that this approach didn’t work on these three prey before them, the shadowy figures drifting in the void suddenly let out silent screams. Then, Donald saw three familiar figures appear suddenly before him.
“What’s this?”
Seeing an exact copy of himself appear before him, the tall Thor was stunned.
“This is a scene from our past in a dungeon. It won’t last long, but their strength is almost on par with ours. Their weakness is that they lack true autonomy and cannot replicate powerful artifacts. Be careful of Faeani’s ambushes—they’re easy to deal with!”
Donald, who had once fought using top-tier legendary spells that harnessed the laws of time, understood this well. Faeani’s dungeon mirrors of enemies were different from their own mirrors; they could only summon remnants from the past through time gaps. They could be considered Donald and the others’ past selves, but they weren’t actually their past selves—just mirrors copied from the flow of time. Thus, they could only be summoned from the past, and their strength couldn’t reach their peak.
But for ordinary True Gods, facing such chaotic and complicated attacks would likely be overwhelming, and they might easily fall into Faeani’s schemes. This was the tactic favored by these abominations that controlled past and future.
They would also use spell-like abilities to create a copy of themselves from a different time to lead their true selves into battle, carefully protecting their own safety.
It was precisely this cautious approach that made creatures like Faeani among the few abominations never captured or hunted by their true selves. After all, True Gods who mastered the laws of time were extremely rare.
Fighting against their own selves was a very strange experience. The easiest among them was undoubtedly Donald. His Order clone had been created not long ago, so all Faeani could steal was just a few months of his past.
The hardest was Thor. Although he had been reborn, his soul still originated from the past. So he was facing his peak self—the second king of Asgard, the war leader against the Frost Giants, the strongest warrior under Odin, Thor, the God of Thunder and Strength.
Even though he was only facing a faint reflection of his past self, possessing less than one-tenth of his true strength, that formidable power of the supreme deity still caused Thor great trouble, leaving him in a mess. And it was all caused by himself, which made Thor extremely frustrated as he swung Mjolnir to defend against his own reflection’s attacks while shouting loudly.
