Chapter 667: Ascending to a Mid-Level God
Now that Donald had established his own domain, he needed to pay constant attention to both the Kingdom of Azeroth, the plane of Nordahl, and his own homeworld. It was naturally impossible for the God of Laws alone to handle everything. Fortunately, starting from the mid-level god stage, both the God of Laws and the God of Faith gradually converged toward the same ultimate path. Thus, the God of Laws, having merged his separated natural divinity, could now create avatars as well.
However, the God of Laws followed a path of self-cultivation, and his avatars differed from ordinary ones. Their existence did not depend on a divine core but rather on artifacts created through the powers he wielded. Realizing this, Donald thought of the powerful cultivators in the Pangu divine system of Earth’s universe, who relied on spiritual treasures to manifest their primordial spirits. Indeed, the great truth is simple—every universe’s path of cultivation ultimately converges, with many similarities.
As for artifacts related to natural powers, Donald currently only had “Wrath of Nature,” which carried some aspects of divine punishment. Therefore, the God of Laws could only create avatars of divine punishment for now.
During the process of creating avatars, Uther and Kelthas, along with other subordinates, were tasked with guarding the homeworld and the plane of Nordahl respectively.
The homeworld was not a concern—whether it was the Bronze Dragon King Nozdormu or the immortal demigod Magic Sword Carlisle, both represented the highest level of combat power there. Moreover, Master Messel and Archmage Chikofield, who resided in the mage tower, were formidable figures. Even ordinary demigods would struggle to succeed against these two legendary spellcasters backed by their mage tower.
Donald was more worried about Nordahl, the material plane. As a transit point between the homeworld and the Kingdom of Azeroth, this world-tree plane lay on the edge of the material world in the middle realms, near the void of the upper realms. This location made it frequently vulnerable to attacks from void creatures.
Normally, having at least one avatar to guard it was sufficient. But now, as the God of Faith focused all his efforts on consolidating his supreme divinity and ascending to a mid-level god, and the God of Laws had to stay in the kingdom while creating avatars, Nordahl was in an unprecedented state of vulnerability. Thus, Donald sent his strongest demigod envoy, the Holy Light Angel Uther, to guard it.
Fortunately, there were still two true gods, Loki and Thor, who could share some of the burden with Uther.
Ignatius had entrusted his two sons to Donald. As true gods from the same universe, they too were similar to Thor and Loki—although they had obtained divine positions in this universe, they had never entered the Pantheon to communicate with the other gods. It was only during the battle in Hell and the Abyss that the gods learned there were two such true gods hidden within the elf pantheon, one of them even a powerful supreme god. Basically, all the true gods developed a deeper sense of reverence for the Lord of Elves. Ignatius’s rivals and other supreme gods couldn’t help but admire the cunning of this veteran supreme god, who remained low-key most of the time but hid so well that all the supreme gods feared him. Since no one had guided him on the path of a Law God and there were no precedents, he had to figure it out on his own. Fortunately, he had learned quite a bit from the Lord of Elves and Loki about the true gods in the universe where Earth lay, especially various practitioners of the Pangu pantheon, and quickly found the right method to condense a Law God avatar. Unlike the avatars of ordinary true gods in this universe, a Law God’s avatar not only needed to create a divine core and endow it with law powers but also required complete integration of both with the sacred artifact serving as the avatar’s carrier to succeed. This carrier had to be a sacred artifact compatible with that set of divine powers—preferably a unique one—and only after the avatar was successfully created could it unleash its full strength. While this greatly enhanced the avatar’s power, it also had a drawback: if the avatar was killed or captured by an enemy, there was a risk of losing an important sacred artifact! Moreover, once an avatar was created and went out, the true body would lose a powerful artifact. Yet Donald wouldn’t let this stop him; such a powerful avatar was precisely his weapon for defeating enemies. Even if faced with an unstoppable enemy and unable to escape, he would decisively detonate his sacred artifact and avatar, leaving nothing for the enemy to use. As for the loss of the avatar and artifact, the true body could naturally retrieve them later! Unlike Donald, Thor, who didn’t have his own divine kingdom, and his brother Loki shared one divine kingdom, which had now been merged into the Avantide Divine Kingdom. This time, both of them were using their true bodies.
Due to their cultivation methods being similar to Donald’s Form of the Law God, despite obtaining divine positions in the multiverse, Loki and Thor still needed artifacts as carriers to create avatars. Loki had no suitable artifact for this purpose. Creating a unique artifact also took time, while Thor, who had just been re-deified, possessed Mjolnir but lacked the time to create one. That’s why these two brothers resorted to using their true forms.
However, because they were already extremely powerful and had Ignatius, the Father God, backing them, even using their true forms was like walking through a marketplace with gold—no foolish god or demon lord dared to challenge them.
With the help of Loki and Thor, a year later, Donald’s Avenger Form was formed once again, this time as the Form of the Law God, with strength on par with that of a lower-tier god at its peak.
As soon as the Avenger Form was created, Donald went to the Nodahl Realm to replace Uther, meeting along the way Loki and Thor, who had come to help him protect the realm.
“Thank you both for your help!” Donald said.
Thor spoke generously, “Donald, you’ve helped us so much. Without you, we would likely still be trapped in the ruins of Babylon! It’s only right that we repay you. Besides, the Father God has instructed us to follow you as our leader. In the future, you might even be our hope of returning to Asgard!”
Donald smiled and said, “That’s still too far off. Although I know the coordinates of Earth and how to cross the cosmic barriers, I’ll need to reach the level of an upper-tier god before there’s any real chance of returning!”
Loki, however, said seriously, “Given the Father God’s prophetic abilities, since you’re considered key, our return must depend on you! And since even the Father God can’t see your future clearly, that day won’t be too far away!”
Hearing this, Donald couldn’t argue and could only urge himself harder not to disappoint Loki and the others.
Besides, he himself wanted to return to Earth—after all, it was his home. But now, the multiverse was also his home, with so many people he cared about here. So unless he was absolutely certain he could travel safely between the two universes, he wouldn’t take the risk of not being able to return.
