Chapter 662: The Ambitions of the Abyss (1)

With the precise spatial coordinates provided by the calculations from the Book of Truth, Donald successfully completed the task of splitting the first layer of the Abyss. While this portion of the realm was merely a tiny fraction of the Vast Abyss Plains—the largest layer within the Abyss—it still expanded Hell’s size by at least one-fifth all at once. The Abyss could only watch helplessly as this act carried out by Donald’s godlike incarnation took place, a humiliating situation for the demon lords.

However, with the intervention of higher gods on Hell’s side, even the three major powers refrained from taking action. After all, these three powers were also in a state of hostile competition among themselves; none wanted to risk an attack that might allow the other two to strike back at their own territories. This led to the strange situation we see now.

Since the three major powers remained inactive, the lower-level demon lords dared not move either. They lacked the strength of the three demon monarchs to confront higher gods head-on!

In this battle, Hell had only one mid-tier god, one lower-tier god incarnation, and two newly risen gods. By normal standards, they were no match for the powerful forces of the Abyss.

The Infinite Abyss contained 666 known layers, with even more realm lords than that. Just in terms of numbers, Hell could easily be overwhelmed. Even with the presence of two elf gods, it would be difficult to reverse this disadvantage—perhaps only to buy some extra time.

Yet the true god-level warriors on Hell’s side were far stronger than they appeared on the surface. Thus, when the Abyss sent a team of demon lords, they were swiftly defeated in Hell, with only a few escaping. Even a powerful figure like King of the Undead, Oscar, fell to the enemy’s hands!

By swallowing thousands of square kilometers of spatial realm, the newly formed will of Hell was overjoyed. It even absorbed the power from Oscar’s fallen incarnation, accelerating Hell’s growth by at least several hundred years.

“Not bad! By plundering the power of the Abyss, Hell will soon grow into a realm strong enough to confront the forces of the Abyss’s lower layers head-on. By then, you, King of Hell, might not be inferior to the three giants of the Abyss!”

Hearing Donald’s praise, Astymos was equally excited.

In less than a year, he had grown from a semi-god demon to a realm ruler capable of matching even a powerful mid-tier god. This was something he could never have imagined before!

Now, the only ones still fighting in hell are the King of the Frost Giants and Thor, the God of Thunder. Surrounded by the powerful forces of hell, Koschei, the demon lord influenced by the will of rage, though limited in wisdom, is not foolish. In past battles, whenever his strength was reduced by more than half, this enraged ruler would use teleportation to retreat to a safe place and plan his revenge. Only in a state of fury would Koschei never retreat, until he destroyed his enemies or perished himself. And now, Koschei is in such a state. Once a day, driven by extreme anger, he could enter a frenzied state akin to a barbarian’s berserk ability. During this time, his strength and physical condition would multiply, and his willpower would soar, allowing him to stand firm even under the pressure of higher gods. This frenzied state of the Frost Giants usually lasted a few minutes, and they did not suffer from exhaustion afterward. However, using this ability at such a time was clearly unwise on Koschei’s part—this was precisely the critical moment when the powerful beings of the two higher gods were locked in battle, and the avatar of the King of the Undead was about to fall. By the time Koschei returned to his normal state, he found himself deep in hell, surrounded by its powerful forces. What an enraged ruler! Truly worthy of being a demon lord whose mind had been twisted by the will of rage—after realizing he was trapped with no way out, he simply chose to self-destruct. After all, Koschei had come in his true form, not as an avatar. How powerful would the self-destruction of a being at the level of a mid-tier god be? Even the expanded hell dimension might not be able to withstand it, so Loki, a higher god, acted swiftly to defeat the King of the Frost Giants before he could explode. Yet even with the intervention of a higher god, only the self-destruction of Koschei’s divinity and physical strength could be stopped; his soul’s destruction could not be halted. After the explosion of the King of the Frost Giants’ soul caused a small-scale energy storm, the attack from the abyss was finally quelled, and the bloody battle between hell and the first layer of the abyss came to a temporary halt. As for when the abyss would launch its next attack, that was no longer up to the forces of hell to decide.

After its soul self-destructed, a powerful demon lord and archdemon like Koscherchi did not perish completely like ordinary demon lords merely because of the self-destruction of its core body. Instead, it revived in the 23rd layer of the Frozen Ruins dimension. As the ruler of this dimension, a part of its soul essence and power had merged with it, so that unless it could be killed again within a short time, Koscherchi’s presence could not be completely eradicated, and the King of Frost Giants could not be defeated.

This alone shows the gap between Koscherchi and beings like the King of Werewolves that Donald had encountered before!

However, after this destruction and revival, Koscherchi’s strength had diminished by at least half, barely maintaining the power of a newly ascended god. In this weakened state, it still had to be wary of the covetous gazes of surrounding demon lords and no longer had the ability to take action outside.

After the battle, the demons held a grand celebration before sending the reinforcements from the main world back to their own dimensions.

As for the two elven deities, Loki and Thor, they left early to visit the Kingdom of Azeroth. It couldn’t really be called a visit—according to the Elven Lord, these two brothers would become Donald’s greatest assistants after he left, so for now they stayed by Donald’s side under his command.

Not to mention the shock felt by the powerful beings from various multiverses who were watching this battle in secret—they all realized that the hierarchy of true gods in the multiverse was likely to change significantly after witnessing today’s events!

After assigning some tasks to Astymos, Donald went alone to the coastal area where the dimensional ocean lay and encountered once again the remnants of the ancient demon Bachard.

This Lord of Storms had separated itself from the 422nd layer of the Abyss to become part of the Hell dimension, but its remaining will was still trapped here.

Upon seeing Donald arrive, Bachard joyfully writhed its willful spirit body within its remnants.

“God, as agreed before, you should fulfill your promise and liberate my will!”

Hearing Bachard’s mental voice, Donald smiled and said, “I don’t recall making any such promise!”

Bachard’s will immediately erupted in fury before it calmed down after a while.

“God, what conditions do you require to fulfill my wish?”

Seeing that this ancient demon was sensible, Donald stopped teasing it and said directly, “I’m very interested in those ancient secrets from your memories. As long as you let me copy a complete set of them, I’ll help you be freed!”

After hearing Bachard’s will, it remained silent for a long time before sighing softly and making its choice. In truth, for it that had already perished, those secrets no longer mattered; it still clung to them out of stubbornness from its lifetime. After Donald reviewed all its memories, this ancient demon monarch, freed from its obsessions, naturally fulfilled its desire for liberation. Without Donald needing to intervene, it smiled as its remaining will dispersed into the world around it. As Donald replayed the memories of Storm Lord Bachard in the consciousness space, his expression grew serious. However, Bachard’s memories were already somewhat incomplete—after all, they were merely remnants of a being that had perished, and it was already remarkable that such secrets had been preserved at all. The leader of the Cursed Throat Fleet, the Cannibal King Unos, who had obtained some of these secrets, could not fully comprehend their importance. But Donald, as a true god, was entirely different—his vision and understanding far surpassed those of a mere legendary wanderer. Realizing the significance of these secrets, he immediately set off for another destination. Due to the incompetence of the Wolfman King and the strong will of the previous lord still lingering, it was unable to fully take control of Layer 422. The area north of the Screaming Peaks refused to submit to Yenogu’s will and retained its original desert landscape. This was the ruins of Azar, the fallen land of the Obsessed Azar, once the seat of his throne. Azar was a powerful fallen angel, once a hero of the heavens. But since his fall in ancient times, he had been chained to the crumbling foundations of a vast square, from where he ruled this layer of the realm—back when Layer 422 was known as Barbaric Withering. Though imprisoned, Azar still ruled an empire that extended far into the primary material plane. Yet even the mightiest beings can suffer disasters; despite once reaching the level of a higher god, none of this could save Azar’s life. All that remained of this once-mighty demon lord was a greasy black stain. But Azar’s fall left a bleeding wound in the Abyssal Will, and though he no longer existed, his influence still lingered here. Unlike the Storm Lord, who retained a semi-conscious will, the remaining will of the Obsessed Azar, under the pressure of the Abyssal Will, remained in a dazed, unconscious state, allowing it to preserve its will and avoid being erased by the Abyssal Will.

Upon arriving at the ruins of the former Azar throne, Donald immediately used the Book of Truth to absorb the remaining will of this powerful fallen angel.
“I really want to see what kind of profound secret could drive these two mighty demon lords to their downfall!”
All of this would be revealed to him.
