Chapter 599: Unknown Threats
“Beautiful Dreams is one of Alois’s relatively important domains, but it isn’t her core sacred duty. This goddess’s core sacred duty is love, from which other domains such as desire and marriage arise—domains that, though not very powerful, are extremely important.”
“Yet Beautiful Dreams is also a domain with great potential. With the emergence of the Nightmare God’s remains, this goddess must be quite interested!”
Before even leaving this sacred tomb site, Donald had already found a market for his gains!
“As for the King of Lies, Bansen—the evil order god who controls domains like lies, deception, intrigue, sorcery, and illusions—he’s clearly not a good partner for trade. Unless it’s absolutely necessary, it’s better to avoid such an enemy-causing behavior!”
The last powerful being who might be interested in the Nightmare God’s remains is the Fallen Monarch Grant. Even mid-tier gods are reluctant to deal with this abyssal monarch who wields evil thoughts, desire, greed, and is skilled at manipulating people, for fear of falling into his traps. While it might not lead to destruction, it could result in a stain that can never be washed away.
Thinking of the Fallen Monarch’s preferences, Donald felt chilled. It was better to stay away from such beings and avoid dealing with them!
Within this sacred tomb, Donald discovered seven remains of Nightmare Gods. Aside from six being demi-god remains, the most powerful one was actually a fallen Nightmare God at the lower godly realm.
However, the twisted wills left by these fallen Nightmare Gods couldn’t have any impact on Donald. Once one became immune to the Nightmare Gods’ most powerful abilities, even a mid-tier Nightmare God could be easily defeated by a strong demi-god, let alone their fallen remnants.
Despite being prepared for such findings, Donald was still surprised!
Although these spiritual and illusion-based divine artifacts of the Nightmare Gods weren’t of much use to him, they could serve as excellent options for trading with suitable gods or for crafting divine weapons.
After collecting all seven Nightmare God remains, Donald ignored the scattered immortal materials and prepared to return.
As the ultimate resting place for the god-tier powerhouses of the Nightmare race, this place, due to the strong remnants of twisted willpower, did not gradually collapse like ordinary divine tomb sites that lost their master will. Instead, it remained as a vast island, awaiting the birth and downfall of the next Nightmare God!
Passing through the area where Gisank built his fortress once again, this time most of the Gisanks, upon learning of the situation, exercised great restraint—knowing that this being had no interest in invading and destroying their tribe—they allowed Donald to leave their territory unimpeded.
Even so, along the way, Donald continued to absorb a great deal of Word Spirit energy.
After leaving this Nightmare Divine Tomb site, he glanced back, recorded its coordinates, and then headed back in the direction of the Outer Realm.
While Donald’s two avatars left the divine kingdom to explore the secret realms of the stars, a major incident occurred in the main world that enraged him.
Like any ordinary human father, Donald wanted to provide the best environment and education for his children. To this end, he created a body using the Book of Truth and descended as a saint to accompany his two children and wives as a mortal.
With the Book of Truth, it was much easier for Donald to descend as a saint than other true gods. He didn’t need to rely on the efforts of church organizations to cultivate suitable holy sons as vessels; he could simply create one using himself as the base.
This way, even after his divine will left, that vessel could still exist like a chosen one—having its own will but fully aligned with Donald’s consciousness, following solely his path as a true god. Even the established higher god church forces would need a long time to create one such being.
However, since it was ultimately a saintly avatar, Donald’s avatar’s strength was usually at the legendary level, only temporarily reaching beyond demi-god strength when borrowing power from his true form. As for Catherine, though already in a demi-god form, she was not a professional warrior, so her strength remained at the legendary level, just like Cornelia’s.
This created opportunities for certain entities to take advantage.
Half a month after the departure of the two avatars, Donald’s avatar, who was playing in the courtyard of the manor on Lakeheart Island with two children who had just learned to walk, received news from voter Clinton that an avatar of the God of Liches, Phalarad the Pale, had come to pay a visit.
The God of Liches sounded like an undead being from the realm of evil, but that was not the case. This deity had once been a legendary lord of the Arcane Empire. During a catastrophe that affected the entire main world, he lost his mortal form while fighting against an invasion from the abyss. Decades after everyone thought he had perished, he survived in the form of a demi-god lich. With the destruction of the Arcane Empire, Phalarad then embarked on a path to become the God of Liches.
Donald, who was a mage by background, held great respect for such a former great archmage, so he decided to receive and entertain him personally.
Phalarad was a neutral order deity whose domain lay in a demi-plane outside the underworld. His power ranked between that of a newly risen god and a lower god. However, due to his lack of ambition and his focus on his own research, he was not only not expelled by Rops, the nominal ruler of the underworld, but that underworld god even recognized Phalarad’s demi-plane as an affiliated realm of the underworld.
Thanks to this nominal status, Phalarad was able to steadily evolve from a demi-god lich into the God of Liches without being disturbed by other entities seeking to exploit this demi-plane.
The moment Donald saw Phalarad’s avatar, he realized its uniqueness. Clearly, this God of Liches avatar had not created itself like ordinary deities but had shaped a demi-god lich body for itself, giving the avatar the advantages of an avatar while also making it a true demi-god warrior. Moreover, thanks to the special life form of liches as undead beings, as long as an enemy did not completely destroy the lich’s soul core—what is known as the soul chest, which could take various forms, usually existing as a soul gem for demi-god liches—then the lich could survive.
What Donald’s avatar didn’t know was that an evil entity had already sneaked onto Lakeheart Island, where his family lived, at the same time as Phalarad’s avatar arrived. Its target was his two children.
