Chapter 533: Loki’s Request
After hearing Donald’s words, Loki nodded. Having been trapped at the level of higher gods for countless years, he naturally understood the difficulty of pursuing the path to become a supreme god. It was somewhat better in that former universe—after all, the world of true gods was highly developed, with most divine factions having at least one powerful supreme god to back them up, providing a clear path forward.
However, aside from a few saints from the Pangu divine faction who rose to the position of supreme gods later on, almost all supreme gods originated from ancient, godly beings from the dawn of time—naturally immortal and formidable races with little to learn from. Thus, the path to becoming a supreme god there wasn’t much easier than in this multiverse!
“Well, then the only option I know of is the last one left. There’s only one path ahead of you. If even this fails, I’ll be at a loss!”
Donald nodded. “Prince Loki, rest assured. Even if this method still doesn’t work, I will definitely fulfill what I promised you!”
Loki nodded in response. “This method involves finding a way to traverse the temporal and spatial chaos and travel between various universe worlds. The prerequisite is that you must have the coordinates of another universe to use this method. You’ll also need at least a high-grade divine artifact for protection. Otherwise, even higher gods like us won’t be able to withstand the continuous erosion of time and space forces in those chaotic flows. We’re likely to perish in foreign lands, or at best, fall into a state like mine—trapped between life and death!”
Hearing this, Donald thought rapidly. This method seemed to be the most promising one known so far, though its success rate was still extremely slim—less than one in ten million. First, he couldn’t even locate the coordinates of his original universe.
But then Loki’s words brought him surprise and hope!
The Norse evil god said, “I left behind a trace of an indestructible aura in the coordinates of Yuanxing. That should solve the problem. But if you want to use that aura as a coordinate, you’ll need to leave behind a part of your own aura. That way, after you return to Yuanxing using my coordinates, I can use your aura to locate you as well!”
Donald was immediately delighted. “That’s no problem at all!”
With that, he opened a book-shaped projection on the spot and took out a glimmer of light like a firefly.
“This is my life divine artifact and my divine soul aura. These should be sufficient!”
Seeing what Donald had done, Loki said in surprise, “I didn’t expect you to possess a high-tier divine artifact! That greatly increases our chances of returning successfully!” With that, he reached out to take the light separated by Donald and integrated it into his own chest. “This is enough. Now, let’s talk about the task I need you to help with!” “Please go ahead, Prince Loki!” Under Donald’s watchful eyes, Loki sighed softly and drew out a ball of light from his own body. At a glance, Donald saw it was a sphere of divine energy, within which a constantly shifting human figure could be seen, entwined with threads of divinity resembling electric currents—apparently a soul. Yet this soul was not complete; it seemed damaged, leaving it in a dazed state. “This is the soul of my brother, Thor, the God of Thunder. Back then, during Enlil’s self-destruction, he protected me by using his own divine body to shield me from the explosion. Most of his divinity was destroyed by that extreme force. Even Mjölnir, the strongest mid-tier divine artifact second only to the high-tier artifact Gungnir, was destroyed in that explosion. Fortunately, I reacted in time and managed to save a part of his soul, but only his core personality and fragmented memories from his childhood and adolescence remained. Most of those later memories were lost, and since much of his soul couldn’t withstand the remaining divinity, I must constantly maintain it to prevent it from being destroyed!” “What I want you to do is take Thor’s soul away and find a suitable body for him to recover in. As long as he can regain a clear mind, that’s enough. As for other powers, he can give up some if necessary; there are many ways to address that later!” After hearing this, Donald asked in slight surprise, “It’s that simple!” Loki gazed tenderly at the soul sphere in his hands—a look that, to others, didn’t resemble that of a brother looking at his kin, but rather resembled a deep affectionate gaze at a beloved one! Even with Donald’s nature, witnessing this scene ignited his curiosity. After all, these two were figures from Earth’s mythologies—could there really be some unknown romantic connection between these brother deities? Lost in his own emotions, Loki didn’t notice Donald’s odd reaction.
As an illegitimate child with blood of the Frost Giants, the greatest enemies of the Asgardian gods, he was naturally rejected by them from birth. Only the kind-hearted Thor treated him like a brother and took care of him at all times. When the universe fell into a war among the gods, even their father Odin and the World Tree, the foundation of their divine realm, disappeared without a trace. Realizing his own strength was no match for those powerful higher gods, Loki did not engage in futile battles but retreated while fighting. If not for his reckless and bold brother Thor, who stubbornly focused on fighting Enlil, the king of the earth, he might have fled the battlefield long ago and avoided such a fate. By the time Thor’s divine body was destroyed and only a faint remnant of his soul remained, Loki would have vanished completely without his relentless efforts to sustain it with his own power. It was to preserve his brother’s remaining soul that he consumed vast amounts of vital energy, keeping his divine powers in a half-dead state. “Isn’t it said in legends that you intend to destroy the world and bring about Ragnarök?” Hearing Donald’s question, Loki sneered disdainfully, “What does it matter to me if those mediocre beings are destroyed? If it weren’t for Thor, why would I care about what others think?” Hearing this, Donald had an answer in mind. “I never expected that Loki, the evil god of destruction in Earth’s mortal myths, would turn out to be such a scheming brother controller.” The legends vary—some say Thor is the elder brother, while others claim Loki is older. But from their words, it seems that even if he is the younger brother, Loki has likely always played the role of the elder among the two. What a loving pair they are! Unaware of Donald’s thoughts, Loki would surely be furious if he knew. He continued, “I’ve been trapped in Ragnarök for thousands of years. If I hadn’t once possessed some of its power, I probably wouldn’t have been able to hold on. Once I hand Thor’s soul to you, I’ll be able to fully restore my strength. By the time this crippled divine realm reopens in a hundred years, I’ll be confident enough to break free and reunite with Thor! Until then, I beg you to ensure Thor’s safety…”
