Chapter 532: Hope of Returning to the Earthly World
Outside the ruins of the Volcanic Island Divine Tomb, where volcanoes erupted and lava surged, a group of ten people along with a demi-god puppet suddenly disappeared, leaving only one figure behind. That figure transformed into a dim shadow and swiftly landed on the island, heading toward the tallest volcanic temple.
“Can Prince Donald’s plan really work?” asked the God of Warhammer within the projection space of the Book of Truth.
The King of the North shook his head. “I don’t know! But if Donald goes in alone, it will be much more covert than if all of us acted openly. It’s also less likely to draw the attention of the master of the tomb—the powerful Upper God of Dusk—increasing our chances of a successful ambush!”
Donald’s plan was to have everyone enter his space, and at the right moment, release them all at once to create an advantageous situation.
Although the Gods of Dusk were not like those chaotic, mindless fallen deities; they had clear wills. It was likely that as soon as they stepped into the tomb’s territory, they would attract attention. But it would take some time for the slumbering Gods of Dusk to fully awaken. Donald was counting on this time gap, hoping his plan would succeed.
The shadowy Demon Hunter rushed forward at full speed, ignoring the unique creatures and divine materials found in the tomb. If they could capture the master of the tomb, would those things still be able to escape?
However, when Donald arrived at the foot of the high mountain at the center of the tomb, he saw this scene: a rainbow bridge of unknown length—wide enough to accommodate ten legendary dragons side by side—extended from the temple plaza atop the mountain down to his feet, as if welcoming him and inviting him to ascend to the temple on top!
“Given such preparations, it seems the master of the tomb is in better condition than we initially thought!” Donald had several thoughts, but dismissed them all.
“Since the master is eager to meet me, I might as well act grandly. Hesitation might only annoy him!”
And in the face of an Upper God—even a declining Upper God of Dusk—without using his ultimate trump card, he had little chance of resistance. It would be better to go and see what plans this master of the tomb had!
So as soon as Donald stepped onto the Rainbow Bridge, without any further action, the rainbow beneath his feet propelled him at nearly three times the speed of sound. In an instant, the scenery around him changed, and when he looked up again, he found himself on the temple plaza at the top of the mountain! Before he could marvel, Donald heard a magnetic voice full of masculine charm by his ear.
“Amazing, isn’t it? This Rainbow Bridge is a divine artifact I obtained from the true god of a powerful pantheon in another universe. Though it doesn’t have any great powers, it’s extremely impressive and grand when used to welcome guests!”
Hearing this, Donald stepped forward and stood in the center of the plaza. He realized that the suppressive force of the Twilight God Tomb on outsiders wasn’t very strong—it seemed as though the rules governing it were intentionally relaxed!
Next, he entered the vast and magnificent temple and saw the owner of that voice—the ruler of the Twilight God Tomb.
Sitting on the throne was a fair-skinned young man with frost-blue black hair and deep blue eyes. His long hair fell over his slender shoulders. One hand rested on the armrest of the throne, while the other held a scepter adorned with magnificent gems. His demeanor exuded great nobility and ease.
“Prince Loki?”
The young man raised an eyebrow and said with a somewhat sinister smile, “You know me? You must have heard about me from that lion puppet, right? I really doubt how weaklings like you dare to invade my realm. Do you really think that just because I’ve fallen into twilight, you can confront powerful higher gods with your strength?”
Instead of retorting, Donald simply smiled gently and said something that even this powerful being couldn’t help but be shocked by.
“Prince Loki, don’t you also have your own goals? If you really wanted to eliminate invaders, you wouldn’t have needed to meet me in person!”
“Besides, I know you’re not just known through the Sphinx. Even when I was still a mortal, I’ve heard many legends about you and the gods of the northern lands. I’ve also watched plays performed by mortals. To be honest, those actors couldn’t even mimic a fraction of your elegance, Prince Loki! But after all, they’re just mortals—so long as the plot makes sense!”
“You… How is that possible? I’ve never spread my faith in this universe…”
As a higher god, even though he had been waiting for thousands of years for a turning point, he was only briefly surprised before returning to his usual composure.
“So does that mean we come from the same homeland?”
Loki asked in confusion.
Donald smiled calmly.
“If I’m not mistaken, Your Highness, this Rainbow Bridge of Five Colors was created by those who worshipped the gods in the country I once came from!”
“Really?”
It wasn’t surprising that Loki doubted it—Donald’s appearance closely resembled that of the dark races from the dark regions of the main world.
“Your appearance is quite similar to those Dark Moonclan members under Artemis, and it also bears a resemblance to the Mountain Ghosts of the Pantheon!”
“Your Highness Loki, are you referring to the Moon and Hunt Goddess among the Olympian gods?”
Donald asked with considerable interest.
From novels and game forums he had read in his past life, some ideas about the Night Elves were inspired by those pure girls under the Moon and Hunt Goddess Artemis. It seemed there was indeed some truth to it.
As for the Mountain Ghosts mentioned by Loki, Donald remembered having read about them in Qu Yuan’s works and other supernatural novels during his youth. After becoming a true god, one gains an immortal soul and body, with brain function and memory developed thousands or tens of thousands of times more than ordinary people. All past memories are stored like data on a hard drive, accessible at any time.
In Chinese legends, the Mountain Ghosts are usually depicted as female figures. Since ancient times, they have been known as mountain gods, the closest to deities among monsters. As natural daughters of the mountain gods, they can control two spiritual beasts by birth—the Wenli and the Red Leopard. They often wear plants with spiritual properties like osmanthus branches. In terms of racial traits, they closely match the elves!
Donald didn’t explain anything but instead asked, “Have you never seen someone reborn with a soul transplanted? It seems you’re behind the times, not knowing about something like interdimensional travel!”
Faced with Donald’s teasing, even a legendary powerful god felt embarrassed. A bit awkward, Loki quickly changed the subject: “Since you know about the Olympian Pantheon, your origin must be clear. But I don’t understand how a mortal like you, uh, ended up in this world?”
“That’s my personal secret. I can only say it was an accident and coincidence. I thought that even if I became a true god in this life, it would be very difficult to find my way home. Unexpectedly, I stumbled upon news of my hometown here. It’s a pity that Your Highness Loki arrived in the multiverse many years before me. As for me, I was caught in a spatial storm and ended up here by chance. Even if I could find a way back, I don’t know how much time has passed!”
Learning that they came from the same universe, both Donald and Loki felt a sense of joy at meeting an old acquaintance in a foreign land.
There was more warmth between them, less of theprobing from before.
Loki said with a smile, “There’s still a way to return to the universe where Yuanxing is!”
Donald was immediately delighted. “Could it be that Your Highness Loki knows some method…”
Loki nodded then shook his head. “The few methods I know are probably beyond your ability to carry out!”
“Please tell me the way back, Your Highness Loki. Donald will surely repay you!”
Loki waved his hand. “No need for repayment. I just need you to do me a small favor as a way to fulfill a wish of mine.”
Donald couldn’t figure out Loki’s intentions. Though he had long realized that this fallen supreme god must have some request.
“I don’t know what you want me to do. Even a powerful supreme god needs help from outsiders. My abilities are probably not enough at the moment!”
Loki laughed. “Don’t worry. I won’t put you in any trouble. It’s just that I’m in such a state right now that I can’t be distracted! As long as you agree, I’ll tell you the few methods I know right away!”
Hearing this, Donald didn’t hesitate much and seriously nodded in agreement.
Loki didn’t ask him to sign any contract, clearly either because he trusted Donald’s character or because he was very confident about this matter!
“The first method is that I heard Emperor Taiyi of the Pangu divine lineage possesses a powerful flying ability, allowing him to reach speeds almost as fast as light. It’s said to be a supreme divine talent that transcends the laws of time. If one had such an ability, returning from this universe to where Yuanxing is shouldn’t be too difficult!”
Upon hearing this method, Donald immediately wore a wry smile and said, “Your Highness, are you referring to the ultimate talent for teleportation—Hua Hong? That’s an innate ability of the ancient Golden Crow clan, the rulers of the day. Even the Supreme God probably can’t imitate it.”
Seeing that Donald understood this method and realized it wouldn’t work, Loki continued, “The second method is to reach the realm of a Supreme God oneself, so as to deduce the most suitable and relatively safe path through the chaotic currents of time and space, making it possible to return to the Prime Universe! However, I don’t recommend this method. Even if one becomes a Supreme God, safety within those chaotic currents cannot be fully guaranteed—after all, a Supreme God is merely someone who escapes the rivers of time and fate, not someone who controls their source!”
This method also disheartened Donald somewhat.
“Your Highness Loki, you’re overpraising me. I still have some confidence in becoming an upper god, but an existence like a Supreme God—no gods in the entire multiverse have ever achieved such a status, generation after generation! Even if such a being exists, it’s beyond our comprehension. Let’s talk about the next method instead!”
