Chapter 526: The Shocking Truth

Hearing Sphinx’s astonished words, Donald tried to restrain the demi-god puppet while speaking those words. The Book of Truth here was merely a projection, and it was unlikely to subdue this powerful demi-god puppet right away. Worried that it might break through the space, Donald informed the others before entering the projection space created based on the Land of Truth. “Damnous gods, release me immediately! Otherwise, the great King of the Earth will inflict the harshest punishment on you!”
In such a situation, Sphinx clearly didn’t sense any danger. It believed its opponent was also at the demi-god level and should be unable to do anything to it. After all, it wasn’t a naturally born deity but a masterpiece created by its former master. Its puppet body had been ignited with divine fire to become a demi-god—a situation extremely rare in the history of true gods!
Thus, it had many more advantages and far fewer weaknesses than ordinary demi-gods!
As long as it could hold out until its fallen master awoke in the divine tomb, they could work together to break free from this prison and capture all outsiders!
Sphinx had great confidence in its fallen master. Even if only a remnant of its vengeful spirit remained, it was far beyond the reach of ordinary true gods, let alone these demi-gods and legends with suppressed powers.
Donald had to admit that Sphinx truly had the confidence to act so boldly. The previous divine puppets had been easily trapped by the rules of the projection space after leaving the divine tomb, but this one still had the ability to move. If not controlled, it might indeed escape!
So he immediately imposed new rules on the space, creating layers of restraining forces around Sphinx.
He had done this many times before when creating his divine kingdom and refining its rules, so he acted without hesitation. Realizing the restraining forces around it were increasing, Sphinx struggled desperately to break free from the space’s constraints.
After sensing the presence of a higher-tier immortal being and witnessing its actions, it came up with a shocking hypothesis. “I get it! This place is a projection of a higher-tier divine weapon! Haha, you can’t keep me trapped for long—the great master is about to awaken…”

Hearing that the Sphinx had deduced the existence of the Book of Truth’s projection, Donald frowned, realizing his greatest secret had been exposed. Now, he couldn’t let this guy get away at all! Just as he was about to set up further restraining seals, Donald saw the God-Eating Insects trapped in a cage of faith power in the distance. A faint smile appeared on his lips. To the Sphinx, that smile seemed extremely evil, and it immediately sensed trouble. Donald waved his hand, moving the cage holding the God-Eating Insects closer to him. Although there were countless of these insects, their tiny size meant the cage was only about a foot square, with some space inside. With a light touch, Donald opened the cage. The freed God-Eating Insects burst forth like red fireworks, immediately attempting to attack Donald, who radiated the brightest divine light. Donald was prepared for this. A membrane of faith power appeared in front of him, instantly stopping the insects. As the God-Eating Insects tried to turn and flee in other directions, they saw light walls emerging from all sides, pressing in on them. As the membrane compressed, the space inside became smaller and smaller, until only an area of a thousand feet remained, trapping the Sphinx, who was struggling to escape, along with the insects. “Ah! Rule Devourer! How can you control these terrifying insects?” When the insects got close enough for the Sphinx to observe them clearly, it quickly realized their true nature and cried out in panic. It knew well the horror of these little creatures that had always existed in the ruins—once one entered its body, it would either have to sacrifice part of itself or face the destruction of its divine fire and soul. Although the Sphinx knew the weaknesses of these terrifying creatures, it couldn’t use any means to counter them, as it wasn’t a normal demi-god or true god but a demi-god created from puppets, with abilities in other areas. Without the protection of a divine kingdom, these little creatures were the greatest threat to divine puppets like it! Seeing the Sphinx’s terrified expression and its obvious recognition of the insects, along with its ability to name them, Donald spoke calmly, “It’s good that you know these little guys. If you refuse to submit, then you’ll have to stay here with them!”

The Sphinx roared in fury, only to realize there was no way to escape its predicament.
“Damn it! The great Earth King will not let you go…”
Donald smiled slightly and said, “Are you referring to that being who has already perished inside the Divine Tomb’s core? Don’t worry—even if it doesn’t come after me, I won’t let it go!”
“Foolish! Don’t you know how powerful Enlil is? Even the dead Earth King is beyond your little avatar’s ability to confront!”
The Sphinx spoke bravadoously, hoping to intimidate Donald into letting it go.
Donald couldn’t help but laugh slightly.
“Even if I’m no match for that being, can’t I take you away first? After all, though that being is the master of the Divine Tomb, it can hardly even leave its own temple, right?”
Seeing that its threats had no effect, the Sphinx’s face showed panic. The tiny insects were almost about to devour the power of rules surrounding it, freeing it from its imprisonment. Yet it dared not move, fearing that once freed, it would become prey for those terrifying creatures.
The struggle to transform from a soulless, mindless puppet into a powerful demi-god with free will was beyond ordinary beings’ understanding. Thus, the Sphinx cherished its life dearly. When the threat loomed, it finally gave in!
“I surrender! Please get rid of these rule-devourers…”
This was exactly what Donald had hoped for. With a light snap of his fingers, a membrane of faith energy rose from the Sphinx’s body.
Wishing to subdue this unique creature, he certainly wouldn’t let it be consumed by the God-Eating Insects. The memories in the soul of this puppet, which had existed for who knew how long, were a precious treasure to him. If those insects devoured it, that would be a huge loss!
“Sign this contract! Then you can tell me everything you know about the master of the Divine Tomb!”
After recalling what had just happened, the Sphinx’s soul trembled violently. Self-mockingly, it thought that if it had a physical body, it would likely be sweating profusely, with a pounding heart and heavy breathing.
Seeing a contract formed of mental energy floating before it, the Sphinx calmed down slightly and read it carefully—only to turn pale.
“It’s an Ultimate Contract!”
The Sphinx exclaimed in both shock and anger.

Yet upon seeing those red threads still swimming around it, along with the thin layer of light surrounding it, it had no choice but to reluctantly accept it. After signing the contract with a bitter smile, it watched as the contract silently vanished in a burst of flame, and an irreversible mark was placed on its soul—unless it could one day reach a level beyond ordinary supreme gods, it would have no chance to break free from this contract. Resigning itself to fate, the Sphinx lowered its head and bowed to its new master, saying, “Honorable master, the Sphinx offers you its highest respects!” Donald waved his hand and said, “Enough, time is running out. Let me tell you about your former master’s origins!” “Yes, my master!” The Sphinx obediently bowed and began to recount its earliest memories. Through the Sphinx’s account, Donald gradually clarified his thoughts and learned of a magnificent history that was little known. It turned out that the Totem Continent was not the material world he had previously assumed, but rather part of another cosmic material realm. That was a once-great and prosperous universe. Unlike the multiverse, which had a tree-like structure, that universe developed in a completely different direction. Its stars were real planets, not projections of the gods’ realms in the material world. That universe consisted of infinite voids and countless stars, forming a sea of stars—this was the material world, while the spiritual world existed on the opposite side of the material world, interdependent with it as two sides of the same entity. As for the realms in the multiverse, they were like bubbles attached to the branches and roots of this cosmic tree. In that universe, many planets harbored life, giving rise to countless gods, both innate and acquired. At the core of the material world lay a huge blue-green planet, called the Prime Planet by the gods, meaning the most primitive place where all life originated. These gods were divided into various factions, spreading from the spiritual realm on the opposite side of the Prime Planet into the void beyond the sea of stars, giving rise to numerous powerful true god realms. Yet everything that is born must eventually end; no matter how magnificent a building, it will collapse someday, and no matter how prosperous a nation, it will eventually split. The universe itself is no exception.

Where there is life of wisdom and flesh, there will be conflict and war, even among the gods. The various contradictions between mortals and mortals, mortals and gods, and even among gods ultimately lead to irreconcilable conflicts, resulting in a great war capable of destroying the universe.
The pantheon to which the Sphinx’s master belonged was defeated in the war of gods and was forced to separate the realm where its followers lived from the main material world, withdrawing from the battlefield along with its divine realm in search of another world free from strife in the outer void.
Yet their enemies did not let them go. Gods sent by their opponents and their armies pursued them not long after their realm separated from the main world.
