Chapter 498: Abundant Rewards
After Uther repeated the process several times, Donald waved his hand to signal him to stop.
Although the healing power of holy light was milder than that of some true gods’ healing spells, it still relied mainly on stimulating the wounded’s latent vitality to promote recovery. Thus, it couldn’t be used excessively to avoid draining lifespan.
Of course, such losses had little impact on true gods who had already achieved immortality. Donald stopped Uther because the holy light’s healing effect on him was merely to alleviate superficial injuries—only achieving the current results. To fully restore to peak condition, aside from slowly nourishing and repairing with divine power, precious medicines at the level of divine artifacts would be needed!
“Serr and the others are coming. Hold them off for a while; I’ll be back soon!”
With that, Donald vanished instantly, leaving only the future version of himself behind.
Bassedo and the others naturally understood Donald’s intention and knew what they were going to do. The only one unaware was the Dawn Messenger, who had stayed at a distance, not participating in the battle nor gathering with Carlisle and the others, and thus hadn’t heard Chikofield’s words. He thought Donald’s some kind of miraculous clone ability had reached its time limit, causing the copy to disappear.
A few seconds after Donald left, the powerful figures from other factions arrived at the scene and saw the brutal traces of battle, leaving them all greatly astonished!
“Your Highnesses, have you already dealt with the God of Chaos?”
“That’s right!”
Sea God Bassedo spoke up first.
“Although the God of Chaos is powerful, his mind isn’t as sharp as ours, the true gods. Moreover, these totem gods lack the advantage of having avatars. Despite paying a certain price, thanks to our three of us working together, the mission was successfully completed!”
“Your Highnesses truly are the finest new gods in a thousand years. It seems the time to ascend to the throne isn’t far away!”
The powerful figures from various factions praised them with envy. It would be a lie if they weren’t jealous of gaining someone on par with a mid-tier god!
By now, ten minutes had passed since Donald used his time replication technique. The future version of himself left behind knew he would disappear soon, so he deliberately said to everyone, “Apologies, I have some matters to attend to! Please wait a moment!”
As soon as he finished speaking, he dispersed into a cluster of light dots and vanished.
Everyone thought Donald had teleported away, and they had already plundered all the loot they wanted, leaving nothing extra, so there was no issue at all with whether Donald stayed or left.
Ten minutes later, Donald reappeared in the same spot, virtually unchanged from before he disappeared.
Only the other two true gods and the powerful warriors from Celt knew that this period of time was actually time Donald had borrowed in advance; he had truly disappeared from the current timeline and returned to the past ten minutes.
“Since the mission is successfully complete, let’s prepare to distribute the loot!”
Donald, having returned, immediately said what everyone wanted to hear.
The forces of the Gods’ Church and several kingdoms had come mainly for the land and population of the Storm Tribe. As for the divine artifacts obtained, according to the prior agreement, they would be distributed among the true gods and demi-god warriors who participated in this operation.
Celt, having contributed the most—sending two true gods and even jointly defeating the most powerful target, the Storm God, with Basedo—was unanimously agreed to let them choose the loot first.
Almost everyone agreed, except for the representatives of the Dawn Kingdom.
After discussing it with everyone, the King of the North, representing Celt and all those who participated in the operation, designated the Stone Bear God’s territory in the northwest, closest to the Chieftainship of Sili, along with the surrounding uninhabited mountains. This area accounted for less than one-fifth of the total Storm Tribe territory, a decision that surprised the other factions.
Given Celt’s contribution to this mission, no one would have objected even if they had taken most of the profits. By doing this, they were clearly giving up a large portion of their gains.
Donald explained, “We Celt don’t need much land or population. But my lord Charles and I are in a critical phase of establishing our divine kingdom. I hope everyone can contribute some of the divine materials and the totem bodies obtained as payment for these lands!”
The powerful figures among these forces came for the divine artifacts and sacred relics, but their main goal was to acquire the sacred relics. After dealing with the totem gods of the Storm God clan, they had already divided up a considerable share of the spoils, so providing some materials for the divine artifacts was not a big deal. After all, to create complete sacred relics, these demigods needed to exert great effort to transform those materials into lesser sacred relics; due to their limited strength, they could only forge such lesser relics, with most of them remaining in their own hands.
If they sought other true gods to help with the creation, the resulting sacred relics might not meet their expectations, and the cost would also be enormous. Therefore, it was better to owe a favor here—after all, if they needed help from these two Celtic true gods in the future, it would give them an advantage!
Thus, all parties agreed to the Celtic terms.
In the end, they divided the territory of the Storm God into six parts: five demigod domains and one core territory—the Storm Tribe—of roughly equal size.
The Sea God Kingdom acquired a demigod totem god’s domain near the west, belonging to the Rain God, along with its tribal population. This area was mostly coastal, which satisfied Prince Basedo greatly.
The three kingdoms of Gardrel, Polin, and Kurt divided the central plains region, adjacent to the Stone Bear God’s domain where the Celts lived. These regions also included a few smaller demigod totem domains. These three forces joined forces to deal with one of the Storm God’s demigod sub-gods, the Eagle God. The remaining portion was obtained from the Celts as compensation.
Several dark factions, such as the Fallen Tharlin and the Shadow Demon City, united to defeat another Storm God sub-god, the Night Fire God. After sacrificing many divine artifacts and the Night Fire God’s demigod totem, they received a portion of the Storm Tribe’s land equivalent to half of the Night Fire God’s domain.
The elven demigod, the High Elf Day Chaser Ksak, along with several other forces other than humans, also joined forces to defeat the Rain God, another demigod totem god. Since Basedo had already chosen the Rain God’s domain, they were given the Red Demon God’s domain, which was mostly forested, along with a portion of the Storm Tribe’s land. As for how these factions divided up the remaining land, that was their own business.
Only the Church of the Three Radiant Gods received little contribution and failed to eliminate any demigod-level totem gods. As a result, the land they obtained was roughly the same as what they had previously occupied—retaining their original island and a few nearby territories belonging to legendary and golden totem god tribes.
This is still considered as the contribution of the Dawn Messenger in helping Charlie hold off the God of Turbulent Winds. As for the people from the Land of Dawn, they simply cannot compete with those powerful demigod warriors.
In the end, everyone was satisfied, each receiving more land than they deserved.
Only the Dawn Messenger was dissatisfied with this outcome. After all, what they had gained was less than one-tenth of the entire territory of the God of Turbulent Winds, yet it had to be divided among the three factions of their Church of the Three Glorious Gods. Since the main goals had already been achieved by other factions, he had no reason to argue.
But there was nothing he could do about it. After all, the demigod warriors from their Church of the Three Glorious Gods stayed in the main world to defend against orcian attacks, sending only him here!
With his strength, even with the power of a true divine artifact, he couldn’t defeat a demigod totem god with strength on par with a newly ascended god within the enemy’s territory!
So, despite his frustration, the Dawn Messenger had nowhere to vent it and could only defend the territory he had occupied, negotiating with the other two allied churches regarding the distribution.
After the main spoils were divided, each faction left markers on their own territory before preparing to return to the main continent to arrange for the development of their new lands.
The Celt and Ciri United Kingdom was undoubtedly the most successful in this regard, having magic teleportation gates that allowed instant travel across vast seas between the two continents, making the transport of goods and people extremely convenient.
After most of the powerful figures from other factions left the Totoem Continent, Donald, Charlie, and Basseto gathered in the temple of the God of Adventure and Seafaring, Ciri, in the capital city of Golden Sands, to divide their jointly acquired personal spoils.
Apart from the Stone Bear God, which Donald dealt with on his own, the three newly ascended gods together defeated a lower-tier totem god, the God of Turbulent Winds, and a demigod totem god, the God of Red Demons.
Besides the territories and populations of these two totem gods, which had already been divided earlier, all other divine essences, divine bodies, divine artifacts, as well as the collections of the two totem gods and various divine materials now floated inside the temple, forming a light sphere dozens of feet in diameter, filled with divine radiance!
These should all be distributed according to each of the three gods’ contributions.
Of course, both Charlie and Basseto, true gods, knew that Donald had played a decisive role in successfully defeating the main target, the God of Turbulent Winds. As those who contributed the most, they both insisted that Donald should choose first.
“Since both of you insist, then I won’t be polite!”
Donald wasn’t fussy about this either; he simply raised his hand and separated a large portion of the light sphere, causing it to float in front of him. The True Gods, the King of the North and the Sea God, were not dissatisfied at all by Donald separating so much, but rather surprised. The Sea God, Bassetdo, asked in confusion, “Your Highness Donald, what are you doing…” Although Donald had separated a large amount, most of it was divine material and all the totems. The two most precious divine essences and three primary divine artifacts remained within that small sphere of light.
