Chapter 455: The Reversal of the Totem God

With the birth of each True God, a divine seat automatically appears in the Pantheon to denote their rightful place. Even if one is extremely powerful, they won’t be recognized by the gods unless they have a seat in the Pantheon. When a True God perishes, their corresponding seat disappears until that god revives or a new True God gains control over the same set of laws.

Just as Donald sensed his own seat and prepared to take it, a shrill female voice rang out.
“Damn you, male! Though you’ve become a True God, I won’t forget the insults you inflicted on me when I was still a mortal. You must repay this with an immortal life!”

Hearing this, Donald calmly turned to look at the speaker. On a throne covered in grotesque black spider patterns—part of the second tier—sat Flora, the Spider Queen in her dark elf form.

Donald had already anticipated Flora’s provocation. The Pantheon was a place where all beings in this universe who could be called True Gods and possessed rule-based powers could reside—except for those pure demon lords, including the natural gods. However, since most gods disdained these natural gods, they rarely projected their will into the Pantheon. The main world’s deities weren’t foolish enough to discuss plans to deal with the Abyss there either; there was a tacit understanding between them.

A handsome True God in human form, who had been on the first tier, was about to speak but stopped himself. The Spider Queen had already taken the lead, and Rops, the God of Death who was assessing this natural guardian’s strength, dismissed the idea. He didn’t even want to team up with the Abyssal gods, whom he despised, to attack a human True God. As one of the representatives of the Order-Neutral faction, Rops had his principles.

Facing the Spider Queen’s provocation, Donald seemed unfazed. With noble dignity, he said, “If Princess Flora has the courage to challenge me in a fair one-on-one fight, I’ll give her that chance!”

At Donald’s words, the Spider Queen’s expression changed. She wanted to speak but hesitated, eventually swallowing her words and failing to respond to his offer.

Seeing this, the gods could easily tell that the usually arrogant and extreme Spider Queen clearly hesitated due to Donald’s formidable tactics as a true god, lacking the courage to confront him head-on. Thus, they began to regard Donald, the new god, with renewed respect. It was rare to see a new god make an established true god hesitate to this extent—something that hadn’t happened in hundreds of years. That was indeed what Flora thought; in reality, she was afraid of being outmaneuvered by Donald. Even before he became a true god, this detestable man had managed to put her at a disadvantage time and again, leaving her with no outlet for her anger. Now that he was a true god, his true strength remained even more elusive to her. “Don’t try to provoke me. I’ll show you what happens when you mess with the great Spider Queen!” If the Spider Queen wanted to take revenge, now was the perfect time—when Donald held high his throne and lifted his divine realm to the outer realms. At that point, not only would Donald face the backlash of the plane’s rules but also have to devote most of his strength to lifting his realm above the main world, leaving him with no time for anything else. The gods naturally understood the situation, but seeing Donald, who showed no fear at all, casually vanish into light and reappear on one of the seats in the fourth tier—seemingly a seat shaped like a green plant world—they stopped worrying. Even those among the gods who had initially been concerned about this human true god with great potential gave up thinking about it. Only Flora, the goddess, didn’t know why, but every time she saw Donald’s calm and composed demeanor, her anger surged uncontrollably, as if ready to erupt like magma. As for Donald, he could basically ignore the Spider Queen’s vicious gaze as she chose whom to devour. If it were any other new god, the hostility from a mid-tier god far stronger than themselves would surely be unbearable, making every move uncomfortable. Just as the supreme gods at the head of the first tier prepared to speak at this meeting of the gods, suddenly, the expressions of more than a dozen of them changed. Then most of the mid-tier gods sensed it, followed by about a third of the lower-tier gods. If any true gods paid attention, they would notice that those whose expressions changed were those who originated from the main world or had followers there.

Among the four newly risen gods present, Donald’s perception was slightly ahead of that of most lower-ranking gods. A few true gods who noticed this couldn’t help but ponder further and reassess Donald’s strength. Due to this sudden change, the gods’ attention was temporarily diverted from the conflict between Donald and the Spider Queen to the other side of the Totem Continent. Since the believers had arrived on the new continent, the gods could easily extend their vision there through the threads of faith—just like in the single-player RPG games Donald had played in his past life, where only explored areas appeared on the screen, with unknown regions usually remaining in darkness. Donald also had many believers on the Totem Continent and was one of the few true gods to establish altars and temples there first. Moreover, his abilities far surpassed those of ordinary newly risen gods, so it wasn’t surprising to the few true gods who knew him that he could sense changes there ahead of time. The gods paused their meeting because the stalemate in the war between the gods and kingdom forces on the Main Continent and the tribes of the Totem Continent suddenly took a new turn. A powerful force composed of a lower-ranking Totem God, several demigods, and dozens of legendary Totem Gods had just launched a surprise attack on the territory controlled by the Sendel Kingdom forces. Due to the initial success in the war, the Church of the Dawn, seeing great profits in the Totem Continent, had deployed members from the other two major alliances—the Church of Justice and the Warriors’ Church—and the Church of War—to the already conquered areas, while they themselves continued to send troops to seize more vast and fertile lands. This time, because of the Church of the Dawn’s selfish behavior, the War God’s Envoy, who was the strongest force on the Sendel side, did not join the battle. The Church of the Dawn’s contempt and arrogance toward the indigenous forces of the Totem Continent led to their suffering! Faced with this powerful surprise attack by the Totem Gods, even though the War God’s Envoy rushed to aid with a true divine artifact, he was no match for their numerical advantage. Only some high-ranking church members were saved; the rest perished under the furious attacks of the Totem Gods. The gods of the Main World were angered by this, while the Church of the Dawn, which had suffered significant losses, seemed indifferent, showing no expression or reaction.
