Chapter 454: Witnessed by the Gods
Having accepted Eilien’s invitation, Donald decided to get ready. However, he didn’t want to surrender even a fraction of his divine will to this goddess—feeling powerless with his freedom in someone else’s hands was something he, as a true god, refused to experience again.
Thus, the plan to create an avatar, which had previously not been on his agenda, was now set to be implemented.
Seeing Donald’s actions, the Goddess of Agriculture couldn’t help but ask in surprise, “What? Do you intend to create an avatar right now?”
Donald nodded and replied, “Indeed. Princess Eilien, rest assured—I never do anything without certainty. Please give me a moment!”
As he spoke, a glow of divine law appeared around him.
The process of creating an avatar was similar to bestowing divine laws upon mortal chosen ones or granting them divine artifacts. First, a divine core had to be created, serving as the source of the avatar’s power and will.
This wasn’t difficult for Donald. With his four major divine offices, and considering the numerous tests that would surely arise from meeting the gods, he decided to choose the most powerful natural guardian divine office as his first avatar.
In Donald’s hands, a fist-sized, brilliantly luminous divine core formed. Although its structural stability was slightly inferior to that of a divine essence, its power level was no less.
As a newly ascended god, he could only create an avatar at the demi-god level. Yet, thanks to the powers and domain forces of a true god, his strength far surpassed that of ordinary demi-gods!
As Donald infused his golden divine power, tinged with emerald light, into the divine core, a phantom human figure composed of divine light gradually took shape. Eventually, it solidified into a tall, muscular young man. If one didn’t notice the divine radiance emanating from his body, it would be hard to tell it was a body shaped by divine power rather than a real person.
This body had Donald’s handsome features, but the emerald-green robe wrapped around it, along with his bare feet, made the two clearly distinct.
The avatar’s stature was that of a normal human true god—about thirty feet tall—far exceeding that of ordinary demi-gods. This showed that the strength of this demi-god avatar was already on par with that of a true god.
This is because his divine aspect as a Law God is deeply hidden within his physical body, deep in his soul. Thus, even if most of the power of his Faith God is temporarily poured into this avatar, the safety of his true form remains assured. Anyone who tries to take advantage of this moment to launch a surprise attack will surely suffer misfortune!
Eilien, the Goddess of Agriculture, who watched the entire process, naturally understood the situation. Yet, she couldn’t help but admire Donald for his determination to endure the weakness of his true form just to create a powerful avatar to attend the Pantheon.
If Donald were the kind of cowardly person who relied solely on her support, she would surely be disappointed, right?
“Since you’ve succeeded, let’s set off!”
In fact, the Goddess of Agriculture could have instantly transported herself to the Pantheon through the imprint there, but she couldn’t do the same this time with Donald, who was going there for the first time.
So, she first transformed into a golden light that soared into the sky, with Donald’s avatar following closely behind. The two broke through the dimensional barrier of the main world and entered the void beyond it.
This was the gap between the main world and the various planes of the outer realms, or what could be called a buffer zone. Though it sounded small, it was actually incredibly vast. A powerful being at the legendary level might not even be able to reach the nearest outer realm plane from the main world by the time their lifespan ended, unless they used means of transportation.
After breaking through the dimensional barrier of the main world, Donald was amazed by the scenery before him.
It had a sense similar to being in space as he had seen in his past life—dark and empty, but not a complete vacuum. There were still some energy elements present, though they were extremely sparse compared to the main world!
This layer of dark void enveloped all matter and imaginary planes of the multiverse like amniotic fluid in a womb. Although vast, it wasn’t the true infinite outer void. The latter lay beyond the outermost realms of the multiverse. Due to the glowing energy particles within, it appeared as an infinitely beautiful starry sky from afar, which is why it was also known as the Star Realm.
Compared to the danger of the Star Realm, which was called the Graveyard of Gods, the void layers within the multiverse were much safer and more peaceful. There were hardly any creatures here, and those who came and went were all powerful beings who could traverse between different layers. Due to its vastness, encounters between them were extremely rare.
Since Donald was not yet accustomed to moving through the void, the Goddess of Agriculture carried him in her domain. Once she determined a direction, she transformed into a beam of golden light and vanished from that spot in an instant. Through Donald’s senses, he realized that the entity that had triggered his divine perception was located in some distant, unknown place. The speed at which the Goddess of Agriculture moved was beyond description; according to his calculations, with each flash of her light, she covered distances of hundreds of thousands or even millions of kilometers.
Along the way, the Goddess of Agriculture’s voice echoed in Donald’s mind. “The location of the Pantheon is not fixed, which makes it difficult for new gods to enter. For the gods who have already resided there, no matter where the Pantheon moves in the universe, they can instantly send their wills there. Of course, it’s more troublesome for their physical forms to go there—they must, like new gods, use perception to find their way in!” After hearing the Goddess of Agriculture’s explanation, Donald responded mentally, indicating he understood.
His understanding of the Pantheon was far deeper than that of ordinary gods. This existence, which existed between the virtual and the real, allowed gods to gather together and have their consciousnesses enter instantly because it was a projection of the core of cosmic laws. Although it didn’t possess the supreme power of a sacred artifact like the Destiny Tablet, which served as the carrier of the core of cosmic laws and could grant or take away the divine powers of gods, its mysteries went far beyond simply being a place for gods to meet.
Currently, Donald didn’t have enough strength to explore it further, but he was prepared!
When the lights of the two gods reached a mysterious, cheese-like void, Donald knew they had arrived at the Pantheon. From the outside, the Pantheon resembled the Dimensional Cube in the Land of Truth—both looked like metal cheese with countless passages and holes. However, the Pantheon was composed of layers of illusory spatial barriers, unlike the solid structure of the Dimensional Cube. This showed that the Pantheon was indeed related to the Dimensional Cube.
Upon entering the Pantheon, Donald found it to be completely different from its appearance. The interior was like an incredibly vast and magnificent hall, with a circular structure similar to a Roman amphitheater. The seats for the gods were arranged according to their divine rank, with the lowest tier reserved for newly born gods. Yet, there were only a few true gods in this tier—countable on one hand.
Of course, it’s not that there are only so many new gods in the entire multiverse; rather, most new gods don’t have the chance to enter the Pantheon in advance. Clearly, true gods who can enter the Pantheon during the new gods era are extremely rare—just looking at this tier, it’s evident that although many divine positions exist, they remain unoccupied. Among the new gods, Donald recognized King Charles of the North and the Sea God Bassetdo; the remaining one appeared as a thin, pale elderly mage, someone Donald had never met but had heard of. He was the once legendary archmage of the Great Arcane Empire, later a demi-god lich, and now the God of Liches—Palid Hand Palada. Donald bowed slightly to these three gods of his rank, and they returned the gesture. Then Donald turned his gaze to the third tier, the second tier, and the highest tier of supreme gods. The third tier had the largest number of true gods, most of whom were already seated there. Including empty seats, the number of true gods far exceeded that of mortals. By estimation, Donald arrived at an accurate figure: 6,383 divine positions. Adding the more than 3,000 positions in the fourth tier, this meant there were nearly 10,000 lower gods in the entire multiverse—no wonder it was called the Pantheon. Back in the main world, Donald had never heard of so many true gods, but he wasn’t particularly surprised by the number, because although people often confused the terms “main material plane” and “main world,” it was because the main world was the largest and most complete plane within the main material plane. Beyond that, the main material plane contained countless larger planes, subcontinental planes, and incomplete semi-planes, with old planes constantly being destroyed and new ones emerging. These material planes together formed the middle layer of the universe, namely the main material plane. And within those material planes, many powerful true gods were born—some even being those mighty beings who were deified at the inception of their planes. So it was within Donald’s expectations that there would be so many true gods in the universe! Compared to the large number of lower gods, the number of true gods in the second tier was extremely small—only 205 in total, with one-third of those positions empty, indicating that those true gods were not interested in this gathering. As for the highest tier, there were only a dozen or so—no more than twenty true gods, who were the greatest beings in the entire universe.
Donald examined the appearances of the gods one by one. Though these might not be their true forms—many gods preferred to appear in other shapes—his exceptional memory allowed him to easily match each god’s true appearance with their identity. It was impossible to greet all these gods individually, so Donald formally bowed to them as a sign of respect, and aside from a few exceptions, the gods above returned the gesture. This was a process every newly appointed god had to go through, as well as a way to show reverence for their existence—after all, each god had to endure countless hardships to shed their mortal identity and achieve an immortal status!
