Chapter 393: The True Power of the Sword of Honor
“Great Ancestor, your descendants earnestly pray here for your descent to destroy the enemies who invade the lands and people of the great Celt… Honor be with me!”
As Prince Duri finished his invocation, the sacred artifact in his hands emitted an unprecedented brilliance. High above the Celt Palace in the capital city of Kosovo, a intense golden light suddenly appeared, rising like a dazzling sunrise. In the blink of an eye, it covered a distance of over a thousand kilometers. In less than a breath, the golden glow reached the battlefield above Bitter Water Town.
The intense golden light formed a golden cloud above the allied forces, instantly driving away the radiance of the Divine Messenger on the opposite side. All the legendary warriors present felt a powerful pressure on their domains. Those on the Celt side were instantly affected, while the legendary domains of the Dawn Church were suppressed to the point where they could barely cover their own bodies.
Seizing this opportunity, Colin and Donald immediately left the battlefield and returned to their own camp.
A majestic figure clad in golden armor appeared in midair, his appearance extremely similar to that of King Celt I’s statue in the square of the Celt Palace.
The attitudes of Prince Duri and Count Dawson also confirmed the suspicions of most of the allied soldiers.
“Duri? Celt pays homage to the great Ancestor!”
As the legitimate heir of the Celt royal family, Duri carried the pure bloodline of the Celt clan, naturally sharing a blood connection with this being who had descended here—even though he had transformed into a sacred spirit.
The Celt people present immediately cheered loudly, while even the soldiers of the rebel side felt both reverence and fear.
King Celt I nodded in satisfaction at Duri, then raised his hand in response to his people.
“Servants of the Lord of Dawn, it’s not too late to retreat now! I give you a chance to leave…”
Yet, in response to King Celt I’s words, the Divine Messenger on the opposite side wore a strange smile.
Many of the high-ranking allied leaders, including Donald, felt a chill. Faced with the clearly superior sacred spirit of King Celt I, this Divine Messenger not only showed no sign of retreat or fear but also smiled eerily, as if filled with pride. Could there be some scheme behind this?
At that moment, the radiance on the Divine Messenger’s body surged violently. In just a few breaths, it became as blinding as a small sun. Then, he spread his wings and rushed toward King Celt I, who had descended.
It was obvious to everyone that this Radiant Divine Messenger intended to self-destruct in order to destroy the Holy Spirit of Celt I. Below were Celt’s next heir to the throne, many important officials of the kingdom, and tens of thousands of royal soldiers. Apart from those powerful enough to wield gold-level weapons, no one else could escape the self-destruction of the Radiant Divine Messenger. Clearly, this was a surprise yet logical trap. The main purpose of this Radiant Divine Messenger being sent from the divine realm was likely to perish together with Celt I.
It was similar to the terrorist attacks using human bombs in Donald’s past life. Donald hated such terrorist activities carried out in the name of so-called faith the most. These attacks often involved innocent ordinary people, which precisely reflected the incompetence of the organizations or regimes behind them. If they had the guts, they should target the enemy’s army. Using the slaughter of innocent people to force the government to compromise on their demands was nothing but exploiting justice for personal gain.
Just as Celt I had protected this land for hundreds of years, aside from the Agricultural Goddess Church with no intention of aggression, any other church members who dared to interfere in Celt’s affairs were expelled or destroyed. Thus, Celt I had always been a thorn in the side of those extremist True God Churches that strongly desired to wage faith-based wars of conquest!
If they could overcome this biggest obstacle to spreading their faith in the northern lands, not to mention just one Divine Messenger, even the Lord of Dawn would likely be willing to pay a higher price.
Just by seeing the members of the Dawn Church evacuate to a safe distance several miles away even before Celt I arrived and the Radiant Divine Messenger self-destructed, it was clear they must have had a plan all along.
Celt I, as if expecting this, simply waved his hand, and the knight’s sword originally in Duri’s hands came into his possession. Once this sacred weapon, known as the Sword of Glory, was in Celt I’s hands, its power changed dramatically.
“Duri, take a good look at the true power of the Sword of Glory!”
A blazing white sword light, as if splitting heaven and earth, shot out from the knight’s sword with Celt I’s swing. This sword light, resembling an energy cannon, struck the approaching Radiant Divine Messenger at speeds comparable to light. It was like a comet hitting Earth, on the verge of unleashing an unimaginably intense energy reaction.
At that moment, Donald, who had been prepared earlier, unleashed his own tactics.
“I hope that where there is light, there must be darkness; the sun will surely set, its brilliance will fade, and day will give way to night!”
The explosion caused by the collision of these two powerful energies lasted less than half a second before bursting outward like a star explosion. Yet, the terrifying energy seemed to encounter an invisible barrier, failing to spread even a fraction beyond a hundred feet in diameter. A huge sphere of light, also a hundred feet in diameter, formed in midair, as if all the energy from the explosion had been absorbed by its inner walls.
It was actually Celt I who took charge of countering the Radiant Messenger’s self-destruction. Without his timely detonation, the many mortals present would have been destroyed by that immense radiant force.
Donald’s legendary wish spell merely prevented the energy from the self-destruction from spreading, protecting the surrounding mortals from its aftermath! With the power of his legendary spell alone, it was likely insufficient to completely stop the self-destruction of a semi-divine being. But by choosing a method that aligned with the laws of order, he transformed the overflowing radiant energy into dark energy, which was then used to create an inner defense barrier against the explosive radiant force. Since such reactions were impossible for mortal eyes to detect, it appeared as though he resolved this massive threat effortlessly.
In truth, Celt I was also prepared to use his own power to protect all his people, bearing the terrifying energy storm of the explosion alone.
However, if he did that, even if he fell for the schemes of the Church of the Dawn, his semi-divine spiritual power would still be severely weakened after resisting an energy attack comparable to a semi-divine self-destruction. At that point, the remaining legendary warriors of the Church of the Dawn could seize the opportunity to launch a surprise attack and eliminate this thorn in their side—or at the very least, severely damage Celt I’s spiritual energy, preventing him from regaining his semi-divine strength for centuries!
But their plan clearly had flaws—they failed to account for someone like Donald, who possessed such a powerful legendary spell involving higher laws as the Wish Spell, capable of neutralizing most of the energy released from the explosion. As a result, Celt I retained most of his strength and was still able to deal a decisive blow to their remaining forces!
