Chapter 369: Widespread Slaughter
“Ahab! Do you intend to die with me?”
The King of Force Demons completely ignored the Duke of Bones’ cries. Now in a frenzied state, Ahab’s mind was filled only with thoughts of killing and fighting.
With no other choice, the Duke of Bones had to tighten his defenses, ready to leave the battlefield at any moment and flee back to his territory. Once inside the Ninth Layer of the Bone Wasteland, his strength would increase significantly. Though not as powerful as in his own castle, it would still be enough to repel the King of Force Demons’ attacks.
“Once the news that Ahab has been deified spreads, other demon lords unable to resist the temptation of true godly power will come to trouble him. Then I can reap the benefits—maybe even gain a lot!”
Although undead creatures lack the ability to think rationally, a semi-god like Yasin, whose Soul Flame had awakened and made him an undead being for countless years, possessed wisdom far surpassing that of ordinary humans. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to hold onto the Ninth Layer of the Abyss, fight against the King of Force Demons for so long while preserving himself, and even steadily growing stronger.
Yet, fleeing in such a humiliating manner filled Yasin with resentment. So he decided to make Ahab suffer greatly before leaving.
Soon, a three-foot-long black blade-shaped dimensional rift appeared, slashing toward the King of Force Demons’ massive body like a sword harvesting lives.
It was a Level 9 spell, Catastrophic Black Blade—a spell that used arcane power to tear space, creating spatial rifts as weapons. It could be used multiple times until its power ran out. The terrifying spatial rifts could produce powerful annihilation effects similar to dissociation spells. Even the strongest enchanted weapons made of refined gold couldn’t withstand two attacks from it.
In just a few breaths, several terrifying wounds, seven or eight feet long, appeared on the King of Force Demons’ body. Even for his current giant size of a hundred feet, these wounds were severe enough!
Dark red blood with a golden glow dripped heavily to the ground, causing strange changes in any land touched by it!
This was the blood of a true god!
The two spellcasters outside watched sadly as the divine blood was wasted on the ground. Especially alchemists like Donald knew how many powerful legendary or even godly potions could be created from such blood!
“Argh…”
The severely wounded King of Force Demons let out a agonized scream. Its massive body, created through the transformation of divine power, was just as vulnerable as its own body—any injury or damage would be reflected in its true form, and even after recovery, these wounds would remain.
Severely injured, Ahaz became even more frenzied. With a few fierce attacks, he shattered the already fragile armor of the legendary mage. His attacks, fueled by immense divine power, snapped the Bone Duke’s lumbar spine in half—Golden Bones, though made of steel, were as fragile as wood under the overwhelming force of divine power.
Of course, the King of Force Demons also suffered additional wounds from the Bone Duke’s counterattacks. With all his strength expended, the divine power that had been suppressing the necrotic toxin was withdrawn, allowing the toxin to spread throughout his body. Now, Ahaz’s strength had diminished to less than 30% of its former level, making him even worse off than the seemingly more pitiful Bone Duke.
“Damn it!”
The Bone Duke cast a level-9 spell that not only failed to give him an advantage but also plunged him into an even more dangerous situation.
But as undead creatures, their advantage was that as long as their soul flames remained intact, the injuries to their bodies could heal slowly. The Bone Duke Yasin, with only his upper body left, though somewhat hindered in movement, still retained at least five layers of his original strength, enough to deal with his long-time rival, the weakened King of Force Demons, Ahaz.
Relying on the strength of his arm bones, the Bone Duke let out a triumphant sneer from his soul flame, ready to use one of the artifacts to finish off his opponent.
“Now is the time! Attack…”
Before Donald could finish speaking, two figures dashed forward, appearing like lightning on the battlefield between the King of Force Demons and the Bone Duke.
“Hahaha…”
“Ahaz, you never expected this day, did you?”
Amphus, in his true demonic form, mercilessly inflicted fatal wounds on the King of Force Demons, shouting arrogantly as he did so. The King of Force Demons, now back to his normal size due to his injuries, appeared like a child beneath Amphus’s 45-foot-tall frame, completely at the mercy of his opponent.
A century-long grudge was settled in an instant. Amphus unleashed his fury, venting centuries of resentment and anger. Meanwhile, Carlisle fought alongside the Bone Duke, swinging his long sword.
Every move was deadly precise, every strike targeting vital points. For him, what better training partner and target could there be than a half-god opponent already half-disabled?
When Donald appeared, he didn’t launch any attacks. Instead, he instantly placed a dimensional anchor on each of the two Abyssal Lords, disrupting their attempts to teleport away after detecting the intruders. Though this was only a fourth-level spell that couldn’t affect beings above half-gods directly, it could block all teleportation spells targeting those beings.
For others, it would suffice to wait a few minutes until the dimensional anchor’s effect wore off and then use teleportation again. But for Yahsin, whose body was shattered and most of his combat strength lost, and the Bone Duke, who was physically disabled, time was exactly what they lacked the most. Just a few minutes could be enough for their opponents to kill their already weakened selves!
At that moment, the spell the Bone Duke had planned to use succeeded. A faint glow emanated from its crown, and a voice from its soul level spoke, “I wish my body to return to its state from five minutes ago!”
Although the Bone Duke didn’t possess many spell abilities, it had heard of wish spells—spells with unstable effects that could lead to unexpected outcomes. Thus, it wisely avoided wishing to become a true god or become extremely powerful, to prevent disastrous results. Wishing for its body to return to its state from five minutes ago, when its spine hadn’t been crushed in half by the King of Force Demons, had a success rate of over 99%, with less than one in ten thousand chance of failure.
A beam of light enveloped Yahsin’s two severed halves and the scattered bones, guiding them to reassemble. It would likely take just a breath’s time to fully restore him.
Just then, a clear voice came from not far away, plunging the Bone Duke’s heart into icy despair!
“I wish the wish before me fails!”
With that voice, the light surrounding the Bone Duke’s nearly reassembled body vanished instantly, and its scattered bones fell to the ground.
