Chapter 341: The Book of Hell
“Damn it! You damned Celts, daring to kill my men! I originally only intended to give you a quick death, but now I’ve changed my mind. You’ll all suffer the most terrifying punishment—go and repent in hell!”
With eight of their men lost at once, the enemy leader, who had been hiding in the shadows, became furious. Suddenly, a gap in space appeared on the open ground a hundred feet away from the fire, and he appeared there.
The enraged man in black no longer hid himself. He threw aside his cloak, revealing a middle-aged human dressed in something similar to a priest’s robe, but made of black fabric. His eyes glowed with a bloodthirsty red light, and a dark energy surrounded him. In his right hand was a curved sword emitting a bloody aura, while his left hand held an object that resembled a book, about a foot square in size.
“Lord Hawk!”
The remaining three men in black gathered around their leader, still shaken.
“Useless fools!”
The capricious man kicked one of them, sending him flying. His gaze, like that of a demon, fixed on the people in the camp. Then his expression changed, and he said, “Let me introduce myself. My name is Hawk. You may call me Blood Hawk—I really like that title! Tremble under this name! Remember the great one who will decide your fate…”
As he spoke, he waved his hand, releasing a shadowy sword energy that shattered the defensive magic array outside the camp with a loud crash.
The magic array had been set up mainly to prevent the blood of those flame demons from contaminating their own people and to stop the flames from spreading to the camp. Thus, its defensive power wasn’t very strong—it could only hold off enemies below the Gold rank for a short time. Against those above the Gold rank, it would likely be broken in just a few strikes.
But as soon as this man acted, everyone present realized he was a legendary warrior beyond even the Gold rank; otherwise, he wouldn’t have broken the array with such ease.
Donald and the others, who already knew their opponent might be a legendary warrior, weren’t afraid. The moment the array shattered, they immediately took their positions and attacked.
Donald and Carlisle targeted Blood Hawk, the man in black who had appeared later. Meanwhile, the two Gold-ranked warriors, the old mage Messeur and Duke Adolph of the Sirens, led the rest to confront the two Gold-ranked enemies on the other side.
As for the remaining silver-clad man in black, he was unfortunately dealt with by the elusive half-orc assassin and the day elf mage together. Abel and Kelthas also intended to finish this opponent quickly so they could help the others!
“You really do have legendary warriors, hehe! Just a legendary sword saint and a gold mage to take on me, Blood Hawk?”
Blood Hawk, this legendary warrior, swung his curved sword to counter Carlisle’s sword energy attacks while using his book-shaped device to block Donald’s lightning summoning spell. The instant-release lightning spell already had the power of a level seven thunder magic spell, and it wasn’t a single strike but a continuous barrage. The series of lightning bolts struck the silver book-shaped device, only to be silently absorbed without causing any effect.
This was a divine spell containing the purifying power of natural laws!
Unbelieving, Donald released the group spell Fire Storm once again. A fierce and violent fire storm appeared in front of the man in black, Hawk.
Hawk wasn’t afraid at all and didn’t dodge. Instead, he held the silver book against his chest. As the raging flames approached, the silver book emitted a hazy white light that protected Hawk entirely. The explosive flames that hit that radiant light seemed to encounter the smoke from a range hood, being continuously sucked away. By the time the Fire Storm spell ended, this legendary warrior still stood there unharmed!
“Hahahahaha… Now you see! With this sub-legendary item, the Book of Hell, bestowed by the Great Lord of Dawn in my hands, your attacks are completely ineffective. Accept your fate, ants! If you surrender before Lord Hawk changes his mind, you might suffer less pain…”
Watching his enemy laugh arrogantly, Carlisle smirked. A dark red light spread around him, instantly covering an area of about 300 feet.
Within this space, Hawk immediately felt his strength suppressed to only 70% of its original level. He then laughed and said, “A domain? But do you really think this can turn the tide of battle? Blood Domain!”
Before his words faded, a blood-red domain unfolded around him and quickly spread throughout Carlisle’s entire Blood Battle Domain. The forces of the two domains interacted with each other, instantly reversing the previous suppression. However, the opponent’s domain force seemed to possess rules that were even more advanced than his own Blood Domain, so the suppression force remained at 10%. Yet this wouldn’t affect his own combat performance.
To Hawk’s surprise, his domain contained two powerful laws: slaughter and destruction. If the opponent could suppress his Blood Domain, it meant the opponent’s understanding of law-based forces was definitely more advanced than his own.
“What pure domain force! Haha! Once I devour your domain, I can reach the peak of legend status, even striving to become a demi-god. This mission is truly a stroke of luck for me!”
With that, Hawk moved. His figure was like a shadow in the darkness—extremely fast and elusive. Without the locking effect of the domain force, Carlisle felt he could never keep up with the opponent’s movements with the naked eye.
While Carlisle was deploying his domain, Donald wasn’t idle either.
He found it hard to believe that the enemy could absorb all external attacks. Such a ability must have its limits. No matter how powerful the equipment—be it a sub-legendary artifact or a true legendary artifact—it couldn’t defend against all energy attacks indefinitely. Especially since the physical form of a sub-legendary artifact wasn’t as inherently indestructible as that of a legendary artifact, making it very difficult to destroy. Therefore, he speculated that the silver book in the opponent’s hands was likely a spatial-type device that could divert external attacks to another space, or perhaps the sub-legendary artifact itself contained a space capable of absorbing and buffering many attacks.
With this thought, Donald immediately came up with a countermeasure, though it still needed to be tested.
He once again attacked the opponent with Lightning Summoning, a quick-type spell. As Lightning Summoning was released, another spell he had been preparing was also sent out immediately toward the opponent’s location.
