Chapter 264: The Great Prophet, the Golden-Eyed One Who Sees the Future
Time flows around us at times fast and at times slow. Gazing at the faint light in the east, Liu Yi knew a new day was about to begin. Yet, such cycles held no meaning for him. From last night to this morning, some of the distractions in his mind gradually dissipated, only to be replaced by new troubles.
Though he didn’t know what the curse of the Lotus of the Other Side was, breaking the curse left on the Heavenly Maiden required those nine tears—tears shed by those in sorrow. Recalling “End of the World,” Liu Yi realized it was all predestined. Everyone there, and those who would come later, already knew what would happen.
This was fate—unchangeable fate. Liu Yi knew he would rather be a pawn of fate than let the curse remain on the Heavenly Maiden. As he watched the sun rise, his heart felt empty. Just then, a knock came at the door, interrupting his thoughts. He turned to open it.
Standing outside was Yu Chenxing. Seeing Liu Yi open the door, she smiled and said, “I didn’t see you last night. I still haven’t thanked you…”
Liu Yi looked at Yu Chenxing. She was dressed differently today—instead of her usual blue clothes, she wore a pink dress. With her slender figure, white belt, and long black hair unbound, along with a blue gem on her forehead, she truly resembled a noble little princess.
Liu Yi suddenly smiled and said, “I actually have something to ask you. Let’s go outside and talk.” With that, he headed outside. Watching Liu Yi turn away, Yu Chenxing was puzzled—what could he possibly want from her? Though she had countless questions, she couldn’t find answers, so she followed him outside.
The morning air was always fresh, giving people a sense of vitality and comfort. A gentle breeze blew from afar. Liu Yi stopped and said, “I want to go with you to see your Great Prophet. I still have some unanswered questions—some quite important ones.”
Yu Chenxing stepped closer to Liu Yi and understood what he meant. She replied, “Okay. My place is close to Brother Lei Jun’s, but… Blue Shadow is occupying that area now. I’m not sure if it’s safe to go there.”
Liu Yi shook his head and said, “Although those palaces aren’t far, they’re not exactly nearby either. The Palace of the King of the Underworld is at the end. Going to your place should be fine, but it’s better to be careful. Let’s return as soon as possible.”
Yu Chenxing nodded in agreement. Liu Yi flipped his right hand, and as black energy gathered, his hand shot upward. Black dots rose into the air, and with a roar like a dragon, a black dragon emerged from the ground. Liu Yi grabbed Yu Chenxing’s hand, and in a flash, the two stood on the dragon’s back, flying straight in the direction Yu Chenxing had indicated.
In the air, occasional clouds flew swiftly past the two of them before disappearing into the distance. Looking at Liu Yi beside him, Yu Chenxing’s hands began to fidget uncontrollably, as if deep in thought. He opened his mouth to speak, but words failed to come out, leaving him even more anxious as he continued to fidget.
Liu Yi seemed to sense something. Gazing into the distance, he suddenly asked, “Is there something you want to say to me?”
Yu Chenxing quickly shook his head and said, “No…” After a pause, he added, “Actually… well, there is something. I have a few questions for you.”
Liu Yi nodded and replied, “Go ahead.”
Yu Chenxing nodded again but remained silent. Although the morning air was cool and they were flying fast on the back of the flying dragon, his face was slightly red, as if he were hot. After thinking for a while, he finally said, “It’s this… um… do you still remember what you said in the Palace of theHades King?” His face turned even redder, as if on fire.
Liu Yi turned to look at Yu Chenxing. Seeing his red face, he suddenly understood and turned back to look into the distance, asking, “What did I say?”
Hearing this, Yu Chenxing quickly exclaimed, “Have you forgotten? Didn’t you say you wanted to marry me?”
Liu Yi turned around and looked at the anxious Yu Chenxing. He shook his head and made a strange face, saying, “Ah… I haven’t forgotten. Why, are you in such a hurry? Or are you afraid you won’t be able to get married?”
Realizing he had acted rashly out of anxiety, Yu Chenxing quickly adopted an unbothered attitude. Pouting, she said, “Hmph, I’m just worried I won’t be able to get married. It’s good that you haven’t forgotten.”
Liu Yi smiled at this changeable girl and said, “There’s nothing you can do about being anxious. I still need to finish these things. It’s not my fault. If you’re afraid you won’t be able to get married because of the delay, then go find someone else now. It might take me a long time to finish these things. By then, you might already be an old woman.” Though it was a joke, Liu Yi wasn’t sure how long it would take to complete these tasks, so there was some truth to his words.
Yu Chenxing looked at Liu Yi and replied, “Then I won’t worry about it. If I become an old woman, so be it. Anyway, when I’m an old woman, you still have to marry me. Haha, it’s the same anyway. I can just wait a little longer.”
Liu Yi couldn’t help but laugh and shake his head. What could he say? Since she had made up her mind, let it be. The wind blew through Liu Yi’s white hair once again. As the strands fluttered, his worries seemed to be blown away, yet they also seemed to be swept deep into his memories. What awaited him? Under the beautiful sunlight, Yu Chenxing’s smile accompanied him.
In that beautiful sky, the concept of time no longer existed. Half an hour had passed unnoticed. At this moment, Yu Chenxing asked Liu Yi to land. Clearly, they stopped in front of a mountain hundreds of miles away from the Leiri Star Palace. Liu Yi looked around; it wasn’t a very steep mountain, surrounded on all sides by blooming wildflowers, whose fragrance in the wind was intoxicating.
Yu Chenxing pointed ahead and said, “That’s where I live.”
Following the direction she indicated, Liu Yi saw a building as luxurious as the Palace of theHades King. Half of it was embedded in the mountain. From a distance, it didn’t appear imposing or tall, but it seemed very spacious. Its gray-brown appearance gave it a solid feel.
Liu Yi asked, “Are there any others here?”
Yu Chenxing replied, “There are some servants, and also the great prophet you’re looking for.”
Liu Yi nodded and smiled. “Then lead the way.”
Yu Chenxing naturally had her own plans. Even if Liu Yi hadn’t mentioned it, she would have taken him to the prophet. It was simple—from her perspective, as long as she helped Liu Yi complete these tasks, everything would become easier in the future. What she had in mind was naturally what Liu Yi had said in the Palace of theHades King.
Yu Chenxing led Liu Yi straight toward the building. Amidst the respectful greetings of the guards, they entered a corridor and headed inward. As Yu Chenxing said, inside such a large building, there were only a few servants and guards—perhaps too simple compared to monarchs. It must have been tough for this active girl over the past twenty-odd years.
As Yu Chenxing led him into the hall and then to the back area, a long corridor appeared. Liu Yi looked around. The corridor’s walls on both sides were smooth and tidy, with no gaps or stone doors. There was also a dead end ahead. Clearly, Yu Chenxing had provided her great prophet with a very hidden place to rest. It seemed this girl was quite clever.
Sure enough, just as Liu Yi had guessed, when Yu Chenxing reached the end, she pressed a certain stone on the left wall, then found another stone on the right wall and pressed it as well. Immediately, the closed stone door ahead swung open, revealing a bright room before Liu Yi’s eyes.
Yu Chenxing walked in first and sat down on a chair beside the room, while Liu Yi followed in. The stone room seemed ordinary, with nothing special about it. Its smooth stone surfaces were similar to those outside, but bright beads illuminated the space like daylight. There were three mats on the floor, and on each mat sat an old man. All three were bald, their wrinkled skin telling of their long lives. Their dull eyes were deeply sunken, and they wore gray clothes covered in layers of dust, making it impossible to tell what the original color was.
Seeing these three elders, Liu Yi’s heart suddenly trembled. He didn’t know why he felt that way—he had never doubted before, but now he began to question what the meaning of life was. The condition of these three elders was no different from that of the dead. Their task was to help Yu Chenxing foresee the future and the past. But what about their own souls? Under their completely subdued wills, what was the purpose of their existence? To serve the strong.
With great power and a dark heart, Liu Yi constantly changed his thoughts. He had never doubted before nor wanted to interfere in such elusive matters. But from the moment he turned into a demon, he changed completely. Life was so miraculous, yet the spiritual and physical aspects that composed it were utterly incomprehensible. The same person could evoke different perceptions and feelings. Past trivialities became insignificant, and those fleeting curiosities became deeper insights for him. When he turned to see Yu Chenxing smiling, he smiled too… Life—ignorant life could yet foresee the future.
Liu Yi’s hand suddenly turned gray, and a fierce hurricane arose instantly. In an instant, a vortex of wind swept from Liu Yi’s front toward the three great seers. As gray dust flew into the air, the three elders opened their eyes at the same time. Seeing Liu Yi, they also saw Yu Chenxing and bowed respectfully, saying, “Princess Chenxing.”
The words “Princess Chenxing” felt like a sword piercing Liu Yi’s heart. The name “Chenxing” was indeed meant for a person—the curse of the Lycoris flower existed to harm people. It turned out that unknowingly, he had already hurt so many people. After feeling moved, he realized it was his own tears that had dried…
Yu Chenxing smiled and nodded, looking at the three awakened elders. She continued, “My great seers, although I know you’re tired, we really need you now. From now on, I’ll ask each of you one question. Please give me the best answer you can with all your strength, okay?” At this moment, Yu Chenxing no longer showed her former fierceness. As a princess, she spoke to these three elders with such respect.
The three elders replied in the same tone, “Yes, we will obey the princess completely.”
Yu Chenxing smiled and suddenly noticed Liu Yi standing there in a daze. She got up from her seat and ran over to him, taking his arm and asking, “Hey, what are you thinking about?”
Eventually, pulled by Yu Chenxing, Liu Yi returned to reality. He shook his head and said, “I don’t know what I was thinking. Can we start now?” He was referring to the seers.
Yu Chenxing nodded. “Yes, we can. But they can only answer you three questions, one each, and then they need a long rest.”
Liu Yi listened to Yu Chenxing’s words and thought to himself, “Three questions are enough. There are still two Divine Dragons left to subdue, along with three remaining tears. If we exclude the tears of Pangu and the King of the Underworld, then only that mysterious Tear of the Earth needs to be explained. I guess I only need to ask three questions.” With that thought, Liu Yi smiled and replied, “Three are enough. Once I solve these three questions, I believe the existence of a true demon in this world will come to an end.”
Although she didn’t understand what Liu Yi was saying, Yu Chenxing was still happy to hear that solving three questions would end everything, so she smiled at him. Seeing her sweet smile, Liu Yi couldn’t possibly compare this beautiful woman to the previous stubborn and cruel Yu Chenxing—after all, how could he know that some kind of emotion could change a person?
Liu Yi glanced at Yu Chenxing, then turned to the first old man in front of him and said, “Then, let’s begin.” After Liu Yi spoke, the old man said nothing but nodded gently.
Liu Yi continued, “I want to know how many of the Eight Deserts Divine Dragons left by the Seed of the Earth still exist in this world, and their approximate locations.” His first question was straightforward and well-posed. He naturally knew about the remaining two deserts dragons, but he didn’t know their names, so he had to ask in this way.
A golden light flashed in the old man’s eyes, similar to the King of the Underworld’s gaze. Then, he nodded, raised his hands horizontally, and as his hands descended, a purple-blue light gradually covered them. The purple-blue light resembled flickering flames, slowly coalescing as the light from his hands grew stronger. Finally, he clasped his hands, and an irregular purple-blue light hovered in the air. It didn’t resemble anything specific—blue and purple lights drifted around as if alive. Suddenly, the old man’s eyes widened, and two streams of golden light shot into that object.
As the three colors merged, the purple-blue light vanished in an instant. Liu Yi quickly looked at the old man, who was now breathing heavily. His already pale face turned even paler, and his lips changed color. At that moment, Yu Chenxing asked urgently, “How? Did you see anything?”
The old man nodded, but he seemed very weak and didn’t answer right away. After pausing for a while, he continued, “Only two deserts dragons remain from the Seed of the Earth. One is near Tianshan in the human world.” After saying that, the old man could no longer speak. He closed his eyes and began to recuperate. Though it was just a brief moment, it left him completely exhausted, showing just how much mental energy such a great prophetic technique required.
But Liu Yi paid no attention to the old man’s frail condition; instead, he was thinking about the location of that Wild Dragon. Wasn’t Tian Shan in the human realm the very place where the Eternal City of the Demon Realm lay? Yet Tian Shan was so vast—how could one search there? Searching from the air might be fast, but such a search would be no different from not searching at all. It seemed that this Wild Dragon was truly difficult to find. Moreover, what he mentioned as “near the sky” included other areas around Tian Shan as well. It was clear that finding this dragon would take a long time. But at least now they knew the dragon’s approximate location. If they hadn’t known anything, searching through the three realms—human, celestial, and underworld—would have taken Liu Yi decades.
Liu Yi glanced at the old man on the ground, seemingly wanting to ask more questions. After all, Tian Shan was extremely large, and searching for a dragon there was like looking for a needle in a haystack. But the old man already looked very weak, seemingly lacking even the strength to speak. At that moment, Yu Chenxing said, “He can no longer answer your questions. After exhausting all his mental energy, only a trace of life force remains to sustain him. You’d better ask your second question.”
Yu Chenxing was incredibly intelligent; he could tell just by Liu Yi’s gesture. Liu Yi had no choice but to ask the second old man. After thinking for a moment, he said, “I need to know the approximate location of the last Wild Dragon.”
The second old man said nothing but nodded and repeated the same action—releasing all his mental energy and using his golden eyes to glimpse the future. In just an instant, the second old man, like the first, began to weaken, his body losing all support. Liu Yi urgently asked, “Did you see it?” Though he was a true demon, seeing the old man so weak, he feared he might not hold on and die.
The old man nodded but didn’t answer right away. After resting for a while, he finally said, “The last Wild Dragon is in the Divine Realm.” Just one simple sentence, yet it made Liu Yi’s headache even worse. Although the Divine Realm was smaller than the human and underworld realms, finding a dragon in such a space would still be extremely difficult—even harder than the first prophecy.
Seeing Liu Yi’s expression, Yu Chenxing said, “My seers are all great seers. If it were just ordinary prophecies, they might not even be able to answer your questions. Though these two questions are still vague, they’re better than nothing. It’s all about human effort—we’ve already saved a lot of trouble.”
Hearing Yu Chenxing’s words, Liu Yi thought of Tian Shan and the Divine Realm and smiled again. “You sly little girl—when did you learn to comfort people?”
