Chapter 79: Heartbroken Yet Traceless, Tears Fall Amidst Peach Blossoms

Liu Yi and the Wolf King headed toward Lotus Town. Along the way, Liu Yi recounted to the Wolf King his experiences in dreams over the past ten years. His story left the Wolf King increasingly astonished and stunned, leading him to sigh at how the vicissitudes of life could turn a mere scholar into the master of true demons.

The Wolf King asked, “Now that you’ve mastered demonic powers, why haven’t you gone to seek out the demons right away?”
Liu Yi replied, “That’s exactly what I want to ask you. I’ve heard many things have happened over these ten years, so I still need your guidance.”
The Wolf King looked at Liu Yi and smiled, “It’s good you’re not so reckless; otherwise, you’d suffer greatly. You should know that seven years ago, the demonic sect launched a surprise attack on the Divine Sect and seized control of it. Later, the former leader of the Divine Sect, Qiong Ba, led nine top experts from the Divine Sect to retake it, after which significant changes occurred across the three realms.”

“The three major sects of the immortal race and the three major sects of the human realm formed the Human Righteous Path. Rather than a union, it was more like the rise of a new sect. There’s no leader among the Human Righteous Path’s experts—they all gather on Kunlun Mountain, and their strength cannot be underestimated. Meanwhile, the three major sects of the demonic race, along with the newly formed Tianlong Shentan Alliance, form the Dark demonic Path. All their experts gather in the demonic sect. There’s also the Ghost Race, always lurking behind the demons. I imagine the demonic sect has set up layers of traps and formations inside and outside. Even if you’re highly skilled, you’ll be detected before entering. Even if you manage to kill two of their leaders, you won’t be able to escape their combined attack. Moreover, with your current status, you’re the real demon. If your whereabouts are exposed and you anger the demonic sect, there’s no guarantee they won’t ally with the Human Righteous Path. Then, with everyone in the world turning against you, it will be hard to avenge yourself.”
Liu Yi nodded.

The Wolf King continued, “Your resurrection shouldn’t be driven solely by hatred. Don’t let one mistake lead to eternal sorrow. Since we have the ability, let’s slowly eliminate them.”
Liu Yi said, “Thank you for your advice, Master. Liu Yi definitely won’t let them die easily. I’ll make them suffer slowly, experiencing the horror of death bit by bit.”
The Wolf King replied, “If we want to expand our influence, we need two things.”
Liu Yi asked, “What are they?”
The Wolf King answered, “First, we need a stronghold—what you call the Eternal City. We must turn it into something real and tangible. Second, we need allies. That way, we can avoid many troubles and make your revenge easier.”
Liu Yi asked, “Then, Master, what should we do now?”
The Wolf King said, “I’ll go find Bai Hu, Qi, and Lin, and try to persuade them. I’ll also contact my own clan members. Additionally, I know of a master craftsman who’s been hiding in this Lotus Town. Go find him and ask him to create the Eternal City for us.”
Liu Yi nodded. “That’s good. Acting separately will increase efficiency.”
The Wolf King nodded. “Lotus Town is ahead. As for that master, I don’t have any information about him—we’ll have to search slowly. Although Lotus Town isn’t large, it’s crowded, making it hard to find him.”
Liu Yi nodded. “I’ll definitely find him. Alright, you go now.”

The Wolf King nodded and said, “Yes, Lord of Demons.” He turned, waved his folding fan, mounted his flying device, and soared into the clouds.

Liu Yi placed his left hand on the ‘Sorrowful Dream’ sword and his right hand behind his back. Looking up at the heavens, he said, “The ocean is but a mere ripple; my devoted heart follows the gentle breeze. Through countless rises and falls, ten years pass like a dream. I never expected that the scholar of today would return to Lotus Town.” Gazing at the unchanging sunlight, Liu Yi strode into Lotus Town.

Ten years had passed since he last visited Lotus Town, and it had become even more prosperous. Liu Yi felt aimless. With so many people around, how could he find a master craftsman? Without any clue about such a person, it seemed like searching for a needle in a haystack.

Suddenly, a red light flashed before Liu Yi’s eyes, and he saw a familiar figure. Was it her?

Turning around, Liu Yi saw a fortune-teller under a peach blossom tree by the street. An idea struck him.

Liu Yi sat down under the peach blossom tree and began to imitate the fortune-teller’s words: “Predict the heavens above, the earth below, and foresee the past and future…” At that moment, a girl in black passed by him.

Such a familiar figure—was it really her? The girl in black was dressed in form-fitting attire, with a dark blue silk brace wrapped around her right arm. Her left arm was bare, revealing smooth, healthy skin. Her black top accentuated her perfect curves, her flat, slender waist was fully exposed, and she wore a short black skirt. Her long legs were clad in black knee-high leather boots. A shoulder cape made her walk even more gracefully and attractively. In her hand was a beautifully crafted long sword, its dark silver hilt exuding nobility.

Who else could it be but July? She still wore the same outfit, though the colors had changed. After ten years, July had become even more beautiful and charming.

Liu Yi called out, “Miss, I see you walking aimlessly with a gloomy expression. Is there something troubling you? Let me help ease your worries.”

July stopped in her tracks and looked toward the peach blossom tree. There, under the tree, was a man in black with white hair, his face covered by a silver mask, revealing only his eyes, which were fixed on her.

July looked at Liu Yi and asked, “Are you a fortune-teller?”

Liu Yi nodded. “Indeed. It seems you have some sorrow. Could it be that you’ve come to Lotus Town because you miss an old friend?”

Hearing this, July walked over and sat down across from Liu Yi, nodding. “You’re right, sir.”

Those few simple words stirred Liu Yi’s heart. He had guessed correctly. That silly girl, July, still hadn’t forgotten him. Like the Wolf King, she had also come to see him.

Liu Yi continued, “I think the person you’re here to see is the one you love.”

July stared at the fortune-teller in surprise before nodding.

Moved, Liu Yi added, “The person you love has now gone to another world, yet you can’t forget him.”

July nodded. “How do you know all this?”

Liu Yi’s eyes shifted slightly; his expression was invisible. July thought perhaps he was mocking her. Liu Yi replied, “If I didn’t know, how could I be a fortune-teller?”

Liu Yi continued, “Have you ever asked yourself if you truly love him? Can you tell me what love is?”
Qiyue smiled sadly, like a holy maiden from the heavens, and said, “It’s just one-sided. How could I have the right to define what love is?”
Liu Yi shook his head. “Love knows no bounds. The barriers in your heart are what define your love. Speak it out, and I’ll help you remove them.”
Qiyue looked at Liu Yi, thought for a moment, and said, “I’m not sure. It’s vague. It happens in an instant—my heart beats fast. I think it’s a feeling; even in pain, one feels happy. Maybe it’s an experience; even when heartbroken, one still feels sweetness. Or… it’s an ordeal; even when shattered, one still finds beauty!”
Liu Yi felt as if something was blocking his heart, causing a sense of suffocation. Looking into Qiyue’s eyes, he seemed to remember something and said, “Do you think it’s worth it?”
Qiyue smiled faintly. “Whether it’s worth it or not can’t define love. In love, I’ve learned a lot. Perhaps love is about tolerance. I’m happy to see him die with the one he loves. Or maybe there’s a kind of love called giving up.”
Suddenly, Liu Yi understood something—the difference between demons and humans doesn’t lie in their nature. It lies in the heart. Demons have human hearts, and humans have demonic hearts!
Qiyue suddenly took out a gold ingot and said, “Sir, since you’re so accurate, could you help me predict whether he’s doing well in the other world?”
Liu Yi glanced at the gold ingot and then at Qiyue’s hopeful eyes. He really didn’t want to hurt her anymore, so he nodded.
Liu Yi stretched out his right hand, covered in black leather gloves, and raised it abruptly. He channeled the true power of “Lanerfina Qing,” creating a whirlwind centered on his palm that swept up the peach blossom petals from the tree. When his hand stopped moving, forty-nine peach blossom petals arranged themselves in the shape of the Big Dipper.
Liu Yi looked at the petals and shook his head. “He’s not doing well in the other world. Moreover, he’s not with Jilier. That damned fate has separated them into two worlds.”
Qiyue stared at the petals on the table and said softly, “It’s been ten years. Every time it’s quiet at night, I pray for him and bless him. But now he’s not doing well. That fate really deserves to die.”
Suddenly, Qiyue took out another gold ingot and said, “Sir, please help me predict one last time. I want to know… has he thought of me in the other world? Just once would be enough.” Her eyes were filled with hope.
Liu Yi looked into her eyes. He really didn’t want to hurt her anymore. He gently turned his right hand, and a gentle breeze caused the petals on the table to float and rearrange themselves…
Qiyue watched the pattern formed by the petals on the table and could no longer hold back her pain. Tears streamed down her face. After the breeze passed, the petals settled again, forming a single word—“Think.”
Liu Yi looked at the crying Qiyue and suddenly sensed something. He continued, “If I’m not mistaken, he once said something to you.”
Qiyue quickly wiped away her tears and asked, “What did he say?”
Liu Yi replied, “Find someone else you love who also loves you, and live a happy life.”

July suddenly gave a sad smile, a smile tinged with tears that made one feel even more the pain in her heart. She continued, “Do you know? He once said something, and now I finally understand that sentence.”
Liu Yi asked in surprise, “What sentence?”
July looked into Liu Yi’s eyes, paused for a moment, then said, “Once someone’s image is etched in your heart, how can you accommodate another person? Thank you for being able to see these words; I’m already very satisfied.” With that, July turned and ran away quickly.
Liu Yi knew she was heartbroken. What she needed now was to find a quiet place and cry her heart out…
