Chapter 56: Destiny, Section 8
The light spot was small, but it grew rapidly. In just a few seconds, its size expanded by many times over. Seeing this, Black Hair let out a soft sigh and stopped in his tracks.
What was meant to happen would happen sooner or later. The end of this journey had arrived.
The light spot continued to enlarge rapidly, soon forming a huge luminous ring. At this moment, Black Hair’s fleet also began to slow down. Under the automatic adjustment of the optical brain, it formed a serpentine formation. The reaction engines at the front of the virtual puppets all activated simultaneously, producing a cacophony of mechanical friction sounds. Finally, at the front of the ring, the fleet came to a complete stop. At the same time, the hibernation pods inside each warship opened, and amidst the icy cold, the Blood Wolf warriors one by one opened their eyes. Soon, they heard the mechanical synthesized voice of the optical brain.
“The space tunnel has reached its end. All crew members are requested to exit their hibernation pods and return to their posts. From now on, the ship will enter full life support mode. Fifteen minutes of free time will be provided. Please hurry to prepare your equipment. Battle pods will open in five minutes. Good luck.”
“Head! We’ve already reached the end?” Amidst the synthesized voice echoing throughout the ship, Monkey, who had just emerged, pushed the door open and asked in confusion.
“Didn’t you hear it?” Black Hair replied with a laugh. He stood up and walked to the large screen at the main control panel. He began typing quickly, and soon the huge ring on the screen was enlarged again, revealing every detail. In the void, the diameter of the ring was astonishing—over 3,000 kilometers. It was composed entirely of blue flames, and through the screen, Black Hair could even see the flames flickering. The deep blue flames danced under the refraction of electric light, as if they might break free from the ring at any moment.
“Hmm… As expected, it’s a manifestation of energy.” Black Hair assessed briefly, his expression growing increasingly serious. “It seems the space we’re about to enter isn’t part of the normal universe.”
“Huh? What does that mean?” Monkey was about to order the deployment of reconnaissance mechs when he suddenly heard Black Hair’s words. He froze, his fingers hovering over the buttons.
“That was my speculation some time ago. I always thought Emperor Moore wasn’t ordinary. After all, space tunnels are a new phenomenon, and none of us are familiar with them. So I specifically studied the memories of the Grand Duke of Tarot and discovered that there are actually three types of tunnels. The common ones are those controlled by the Grand Duke of Tarot; they are anti-space variants and not particularly rare. Another type is the tunnel used by Emperor Moore last time—it’s also an anti-space variant, but more advanced. As for the third type, it’s the one we’re experiencing now.”
“The entrances and exits of this tunnel aren’t ordinary spatial splits but rather products of energy solidification. According to the Grand Duke of Tarot’s memories, such tunnels are also legendary in the Moore Empire. It is said that by solidifying energy, one can create a new space outright—forming a new world at one end of the tunnel, a world completely under the control of its creator. Since they can’t be classified, they’ve always remained just legends. Who would have thought we’d encounter one today?”
By this point, Blackhair’s expression had become as stern as iron, with not a trace of a smile left. Glancing at his most trusted companion, Blackhair slowly spoke, “So from now on, I can’t predict what we might encounter. Tell the brothers to be extremely careful. You take ten members of the Wolf Fang team to scout.”
“Understood,” Monkey nodded readily before leaving the room.
As Blackhair’s most trusted companion, he understood what Blackhair meant. Given all the unknowns associated with such tunnels, it would surely be extremely dangerous. Ordinary scouting methods wouldn’t work in such a situation. Instead of sending those who would face huge risks, it was better for the elite Wolf Fang members to go ahead and scout. At least with their Primal Power Armor, they could escape even if they couldn’t win.
After all, warriors equipped with Primal Power Armor could directly enter anti-space. There was no more convenient means of escape in the universe. So Monkey wasn’t worried about any risks at all. After personally selecting ten subordinates from the ship, they quickly leaped out of the warship and into that massive energy ring.
Bright light, darkness.
In just an instant, Monkey felt as though he had gone through a cycle. After passing through that huge ring, his vision suddenly brightened. A brand-new universe appeared before him—the deep starry sky and bright stars resembled a perfect abstract painting, stirring his heart deeply.
But the beautiful sight lasted only for a moment. Before the monkey could adjust his posture, an unprecedentedly huge pressure suddenly hit him, striking his heart with force.
“Ugh!” With a muffled groan, the face beneath the mask turned pale instantly. Despite being an experienced veteran warrior, even he was severely affected by this immense pressure. His heart pounded violently, and breathing became difficult. His primitive power armor, which had been charging forward, seemed to have hit an invisible wall, preventing him from adjusting back.
“Lord Monkey, what’s going on?” came the cry of his subordinates over the channel. Monkey could tell that the warrior was likely coughing up blood, as his voice was extremely hoarse, with slight wheezing.
At this thought, Monkey was shocked. After all, the warriors who could enter Wolf Fang were the elite among the Blood Wolves—unmatched in both physical strength and skill. Given the strict selection criteria for warriors among the Blood Wolves, it was no exaggeration to say that no human society had stricter standards. The warriors of Wolf Fang truly represented the pinnacle of humanity.
Yet even such warriors were coughing up blood. What exactly was this pressure? Why was it so terrifying?
For a moment, Monkey felt overwhelmed. But as a captain, he still fulfilled his duty. He quickly organized reconnaissance missions. Tiny primitive power armor units dispersed under his command, each heading in a different direction, while Monkey himself rushed straight toward the massive galaxy in the distance.
It was a huge galaxy spanning the entire star system, the most prominent feature in this sky. As soon as Monkey emerged from the tunnel, he had noticed this galaxy at first glance. Now was the perfect time to investigate it. Flying like lightning through the vast starfield, he got closer and closer to the galaxy, but the closer he got, the paler his face became.
For he realized in horror that the pressure was coming from the galaxy itself. The closer he got, the greater the pressure. At his flying speed, it had doubled in just a few minutes. By now, he could hardly breathe smoothly. But an unyielding determination drove him on—he must find the source of this pressure at all costs!
With this belief, Monkey accelerated once more. Finally, when he was about ten light-years away from the galaxy, he made a discovery.
In the galaxy, there was actually a huge crystal planet, as large as a diamond!!! According to calculations, it was also the source of that pressure!!
It was unclear whether it was bad luck for the monkey or fate. The moment he discovered the giant crystal planet, it seemed to sense him as well. A powerful beam of light suddenly erupted from within the planet, instantly making it as bright as the sun. The monkey felt the pressure surge violently, as if an invisible fist were striking his chest hard.
“Damn!!” A mouthful of blood gushed out instantly. The monkey couldn’t care about reconnaissance anymore and quickly turned to flee. With all his effort, his Primal Force Armor moved at lightning speed, leaving a long trail of light in the universe.
But even more astonishing scenes unfolded after that light. After the intense light from the crystal planet, the entire galaxy seemed to come alive. Planets left their original orbits and rushed toward the monkey. The terrifying pressure was like raging waves, even distorting the light. Invisible waves of pressure followed closely behind the monkey, surging violently.
Seeing this, the monkey’s face turned green with fear. Just looking at it from afar had already dealt him a severe blow from the pressure. Now, it was even chasing after him. If he were to be directly hit, wouldn’t he die on the spot?
Faced with such pressure, the monkey ran even faster, ignoring the effects of the pressure on his body and constantly activating his Primal Force Armor. Within just five seconds, he reached his maximum speed. He quickly sent out messages, ordering all reconnaissance team members to return immediately.
But this could only ensure his subordinates escaped safely. Sensing that the pressure behind him kept increasing, the monkey knew clearly that he might not be able to escape. The speed of the pursuing pressure had surpassed the flight limit of his Primal Force Armor. Unless he entered anti-space right away, there was no hope.
But that was now impossible. He had already tried before. The anti-space here was different; although still accessible, it required several times more time than usual. And with that time, the pressure waves behind him would have enough time to catch up and crush him!
With a deep sigh, the monkey resigned himself and closed his eyes. The speed of his Primal Force Armor gradually slowed down. He waited for the pressure behind him to catch up. Then he would vanish completely from the universe.
Time passed swiftly. The pressure waves behind the monkey had reached his ankles. Just as they were about to engulf him…
Suddenly, a brilliant light flashed in the sky, and a figure appeared out of nowhere like a ghost, swiftly moving behind the monkey. With a stretch of his arms, an enormous shield appeared around them as if out of thin air, followed by a thunderous explosion.
“Boom!”
Blinded by the light, the monkey fainted under the powerful shockwave…
